Thank you for being you bud. Always good to see some honest fishing
You bet, thanks LetsGoFish
We’re never bored with your videos. Nice fish.
I appreciate that! Thanks Joe.
Love your channel Vernon! Have you looked into Grove's Pond or Eagle Valley Reservoir? Both are a little way north of Vegas but are nice spots to fish for trout in the spring/summer :)
Thanks ArchAnaObso. I have caught some bass at Eagle Valley a few years back.ButI have not heard of Grove's. Is that a pond or lake?
@@FinallyFishingMy mistake Vernon, I wrote the name down incorrectly. It's called Grove's Lake and it's near Kingston Canyon. Keep up the great work!
Great video 👍
Thanks Inge 👍
Interesting to see a jerkbait attached with a swivel, I've heard that can mess with the action of jerk baits and glide baits. But if it works it works, nice video man
Hey Connor. You are right, and I would not recommend using a swivel with a jerk or glide bait. The little jerk bait I was using is really light. That swivel was the only thing that could add a bit of weight without changing the movement. I would not recommend it with any old lure, small changes can make a big difference.
Great video 👍. Las Vegas fishing sucks! Very few options on where to go and the same five species or so. On the other hand would you rather be working or fishing? That's what I thought 👍
Thanks Tim, you know I would take a lousy day fishing over most jobs.
😢grooves pond or lake south of Austin right
Nope, this is Floyd Lamb Park in Las Vegas, Nevada.
What side of the pond is this on? Is this on the first main pond ?
Yes, on the eastern side. That's close to where they stock them and the deeper side of the pond.
@@FinallyFishing let’s go fishing. would love to learn from someone experienced such as yourself. Are you there a lot?
@@Glocktavius_the3rd Sadly, I am no longer in Vegas. But the fishing is hard, but once you get them, it's good fun.
Vernon,
What is a trout magnet? What is the purpose of it. Thanks
George Bonafiino
Hey George. a Trout magnet is a small plastic lure. It's a slightly weighted hook with a small 1 inch plastic worm. It looks like a leech, small fish or insect and the trout will often try and see if it is edible. In this video when I say trout magnet, I am referring to the weighted hook, I am using that in side the tube for better casting.
You might be getting bored because of the CZcams videos because it’s turning into almost work, I bet before you started recording your fishing experiences you would get skunked or if you caught something it would be nice to be outdoors and enjoying the moment instead of having the pressure to catch a fish, Just my thoughts. Keep having fun fishing 🎣
I had to think about this for some time WeekendHooker. You might be right that the pressure of catching fish has an impact. But I do feel the fact that these trout eat powerbaits and not natural foods kind of takes some of the "hunting" or "stalking" aspects out of fishing for them. But that is just me being spoiled and picky. Getting skunked is ok but sucks, even without a camera. But I like making the videos, I just sometimes forget that the fishing is what its about and not the fish. These types of videos are part of my process, so I share them. So thanks for sharing your thoughts, they do help me stay grounded.
@@FinallyFishing i enjoy your videos as well
I said it and will say it again, it's not the lures, the technique or you...Fishing in Las Vegas is lousy. Local ponds are highly pressured and most fish are caught a week after they stock, the trout they stock are small and limp. Much better luck in Utah or Cali, Vegas simply isn't a good fishing spot. Not being negative simply calling a cat....a cat.
I hear you Frederic, fishing in Vegas can be lousy. A 4 hour drive in any direction can over some form of better fishing. But Is it not the challenge of finding the fish here that makes each catch worth it?
@@FinallyFishing For me fishing starts with a road trip, exploring new places and seeing new sceneries are part of the joy of fishing. Utah I think is underrated and offers stunning landscapes and great fishing spots. Vegas city ponds are I think quite underwhelming, so to answer your question, yes the challenge is to find fish but exploring new spots and seeing beautiful lush vegetation and landscapes as well as beautiful water bodies or rivers are part of the experience.
Can't argue with that Frederic. Utah has good fishing, even all the way up to salt lake. We both like to see new places and see what's lurking in the waters. Weird thing is, my travel to other places videos, they tend to do the worst. The amount of people I have met at city ponds that have not even been to lake mead is astounding. But if we where all the same things would be boring. At least this helps that the way out there spots don't get that crowded. Where I am from in South Africa, the fishing sucks way more than it does here in Vegas. Some people might never see those beautiful rivers or lakes, and that is where the city ponds offer a little bit hope. Not good fishing, but hope.
Change it up, thats why I only do finesse trout fishing nowdays which cali guys do (mini jigging tubes/mini senkos and dropshotting minnows). My homie makes custom baits and I have never been skunked in floyd lamb and even willow yet this season finesse fishing. Lol always slamming them at floyd lamb and usually giving the fish away. Even had an almost 50 fish day last month.
I use a phenix elixir with a shimano vanford but the phenix rod has been crazy sensitive and been a huge difference.
It's insane how much the right gear and tweaking things can changes you experience out there. Guess that is part of the fun right.
