  • There are many ways to catch stoked trout, but this lure has trout right there in the name. But how do you use a trout magnet? That is the question that inspired this video out at Boulder City's Veteran Memorial Park. Join me to learn about the versatility of trout magnets.

    Thanks for teaching me something new Vernon! I’ve really only used power bait and spinners for trout but am excited to try these. Very informative and thorough!

      Any time James! Give them a go. It helps to have another thing in your tackle box when the bite is not on on power baits.

      Thanks Suzette. Some days it is easy and you get your limit in 15 min. And sometimes it takes the whole day. This was an easy day.

    Good stuff. I've heard the trout magnet catches them. I have never tried that bait before even thought I bought a trout magnet "kit" last season for fishing the Utah steams/creeks. Maybe next year up there i will try one. Thanks for the lesson.

    Hey Vernon! Looks like good fun! Might have to head out to Boulder soon! Don’t use jigs much for trout but might have to! I love casting spoons and spinners when it comes to trout in lakes and ponds! Tight lines!

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  Před 3 lety

      Hi Michael. When you aren't getting any bites on the spoons, the trout magnets are a good sub. If the big trout are all caught early on, some smaller lures work great for the smaller stocked trout. But I have to say, I have been catching some decent fish on the magnets.

  • @RonMTube
    @RonMTube Před 3 lety +1

    Trout Magnets catch EVERYTHING. The trick is being able to cast them and keep then close to bottom (sorry, but no split shot, reduces sensitivity), which requires very light line. 2# floro or ester is ideal. True 4# (.16 mm) is also acceptable. 1/64 or 1/32 jig heads. UL ,or even better an SUL, rod. If you're worried about bigger fish, don't be. Have brought in 7# catfish on 2# line just keep the drag set very light.

    • @FinallyFishing

      Thanks Ron! What you are saying makes sense, will try scaling down my line size.

      What if the water is too deep? How would you get it closer to bottom with no weight?

    • @RonMTube
      @RonMTube Před rokem

      @@justinvasquez4524 you look for a shallower location. 20' is just about the practical limit and you'll need to use a heavier jig head, 1/16 oz at most.

      Wow, good question Kari. I have never thought about it. I prefer natural colors like the green and watermelon, but I have caught more fish on the yellow. It seems smaller fish prefer yellow things. So let's go for yellow.
