What these compilations don't show you is the HUGE contrast between Adam's performances and the others competing. He was and IS in another league. Loved him then and love him now!

Same! By the time, RoF was done, I was standing in front of the tv and a full on Adam Lambert super fan. When Simon said people were going to throw their tvs out the window, I wanted to throw my tv at Simon. It was perfection!
He can sing anything. I never get tired of his version of "Ring of Fiire." He was SOOOOOO much better than any previous contestant. Nobody ever took over the stage like he did. Such a natural.
It's crazy he hit those G5 notes like it was nothing to him.
Yes, this is Adam, huge vocal range, full stage performance, can change his look very often - hairstyle, makeup, clothes, mostly he does everything himself. Even changes to song arrangements are his ideas. Thank you so much for your great reaction!! Can't wait for the second part of it!

Ooooh….I’m in heaven🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰Yeah you guys need to go to season 8 of American Idol and watch all his performances. He changed up every song and was miles ahead of the others. He ENTERTAINED. He was the first contestant on idol that got clearance from Led Zeppelin to cover one of their songs. You haven’t seen anything yet. Thoroughly enjoyed this one guys. Can’t wait for part 2🤗

Adam was such a star from the start! He has said that he selected his wardrobe for these performances, and how he put together his outfit for the finale performance with KISS is hilarious, his own platform shoes and the shoulder cages from from a local drag store. He was and still is the complete package.
Adam has proven that he can sing any genre of music. His goal on the show was to total contrast the performance from the previous week. The staging, wardrobe and hair styles are Adam providing a complete image for each show. I love when Adam sings Rock, but I thought Tracks of my Tears was brilliant. The breathe control needed for that was extraordinary! Thanks Madison. Can’t wait for part two!!
Smokey was there and gave him a standing ovation. I think it was Barry Gordy beside Smokey!

Each week the contestants are required to sing from a theme like country, Motown, pop, and have to pick from choices of songs available to them. Adam was truly an amazing talent and did better coming in second. He was picked up immediately without the rules set upon the winner. He continues to entertain us today.

The Ring of Fire performance was during country week and he was definitely not a country guy, hence the different version of the song. I loved it, but it was very controversial. He got VERY HARSH criticism, to the point Simon called it "absolutely indulget rubbish". But Adam being Adam... guess which were the only two songs from his Idol days that he kept performing during his Glam Nation tour? Yep, Whole Lotta love (you'll see why) and Ring of Fire! 😂
And repeating the AMA kiss on tour! How can you not love him?! 😂
Back to Adam's Idol performances, really going down a rabbit hole. LOL They are in order by the way. But he changed it up every week, including his looks. It was an amazing journey.
I must have voted for Adam a hundred times (we did it by phone back then). Although I watched American Idol for years, Adam was the only person I ever voted for. He's got it all: amazing vocal ability, a unique treatment of each song, creativity, looks, moves, confidence, energy and stage presence. Can't ask for more.
I remember being so excited and looking forward every week to see what Adam was going to do next. Voted as much as I could for him. Stopped watching Idol when he didn’t win. I’m over it now though. I think Adam’s success makes up for it.

You guys need to watch “The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story”. It’s how they came together and I think one of the best documentary I’ve ever seen.
You should react to Adam covering Believe by Cher at the Kennedy Center Honors, honoring Cher and some other people. My favorite performance of his and I've been watching him since American Idol
What I always found funny was how quite a few of us followed him prior to American Idol and when hearing Simon call him theatrical we just couldn't stop laughing. Anyone who ever saw the Ten Commandments musical with Val Kilmer and Adam would easily realize that the word theatrical wasn't an insult when used for Adam. He embraced theatrical and it's what helped him win so many fans over.
Ahhh, the memories. 🤗😄🤗😄 Great request Madison. He truly can slay any genre. I forgot how much I loved his Idol performances. What an amazing talent. Thanks guys, great reaction, as always. ✌🤗

I love watching your reactions to Adam! 🤗 I feel very strongly that he could sing Born to be Wild even better now. He sang Ring of Fire in some shows in 2021 and he can still hit the high notes, but his lower register is more full so it makes the high notes seem even more impressive. And the low notes make it feel almost like a spiritual experience. His 2021 Ring of Fire is the peak of perfection. My dad's first album was Ring of Fire and when I showed him Adam's 2021 version he was not on board at first, but after a few days he texted me and said, "It's growing on me." Same thing happened when he heard Whole Lotta Love. 😄

Adam is certain growing on us two as well.
We were not sure when we started off with this solo song "Velvet", but it didn't take us long to realise Adam is a great singer and he also showed a great sense of humour in the video for "Velvet".
We were on board after that and have been very impressed with all the songs we have since heard.

Adam is the most successful contestant to ever be on American Idol
Kelly Clarkson is really successful too. It's fitting because I would say they are the two best singers that were ever on that show. Two of the most talented singers I've ever heard, actually.
Adam was on another level of talent compared to everyone he was up against that year. It is very interesting how many of those people who were on American Idol and did not win went on to have great careers and how few of the winners did.
I think Adam is one of the best singers to ever come around! The voice, the artistry, he is amazing. Great choice Madison!

I think Adam was a force that some ppl watching the show back then weren't ready for! It all worked out well for him ending up touring with one of the best bands of all times~Queen, as well as producing his own music. He's super nice guy also. One of the most polite, down to earth ppl when interviewed. Happy for his success!

I remember being so excited before he took the stage each week! He was a master at making a song his own so you never knew how it would sound…other than amazing, because it always did! I never thought I’d hear a sitar used when listening to “Ring of Fire” ha!

MJ lyrics (not cheese, lol!) -- Thanks for the reaction, this is a great way for people to see Adam Lambert's start, and, by the way, it was during his Whole Lotta Love performance that Spike Edney called Brian May and said you gotta see this guy, and the rest is history!! To answer some of your questions, the Ring of Fire production was Adam's version, as well as all the takes and outfits he wears throughout the competition, the only thing is getting his song choices approved by the artist or American Idol as the case may be. There is only a couple of times during the competition that it was the producer's choice but that was closer to the finale.

Saldly, they cut off his performance of "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", by the Rolling Stones. That one was a BANGER too. He blew everyone out of the water. Every performance he did on idol was a banger, I don't remember a single bad one (although Ring of Fire was controversial because of all the changes). Maybe you guys could continue this journey checking out a video with all of his performances (they are short anyway) and not just the "best ones". You may fall victim of a personal choice from who selected the clips and miss super incredible performances! I swear all of them are worthy!

Honestly, Adam ruined American Idol for me. When he came out the first night and said he was going to sing "Satisfaction" I was like, oh no... there's no way... and then he slayed it... and I was like this guy can not just sing, he has music in his soul.

How he did not win this competition is beyond me. He was by far astronomically than anyone else. I love Adam's grin at the end of born to be wild. He is just having fun it seems.
Homophobia most likely. I'm pretty sure they didn't want a gay guy to win 2009 American Idol. There's no other explanation for it because he was better than the other contestants by a long shot and wildly better than the guy who actually won.
It was a good thing he didn't win. It gave him an open to join Queen. No contracts to hold him back.

Glad you're reacting to these performances, they're still so amazing even so many years later... Simon Cowell loved Adam, thought he was the best performer ever on that show, and the only performer on American Idol he ever gave a standing ovation to. All the judges loved him. It was a travesty that he didn't win cause he was miles ahead and above everyone else on that show, but I guess America wasn't ready for his brand of different. Still, he got hundreds of thousands if not millions of fans out of this show. Not a bad way to launch your career! Even great voices and performers struggle to make it in the music industry, which is probably more about who you know & who you've got pushing you than about talent (there may be exceptions, but just in general)

Do I remember right that he actually took second in this competition (I kind of remember some controversy since some thought that the fact he was openly gay skewed the results)? Despite that, I think that was probably the best possible thing since it freed him up to work with Queen. If he’d gone on solo I’m not sure he’d have gained the audience he has today.
It’s fun to watch this old stuff-he’s matured so much as a singer and performer since then.

Deserved to be there. Picked perfect song for the first big stage. Next song I didn't really care for (ring of fire). Changed look for nest song but seemed too proper for today. Ended with another great song.

Adam Lambert was the first on any of these shows to change songs himself. Many of his takes on songs were subsequently performed by others on The X Factor and other such shows, most notably Ella Henderson's version of Believe in The X Factor 2012.

I’m so glad that Adam didn’t “win” Idol. He would have been made to do what the producers wanted instead of the success he’d had and continues to have. Does anyone even know the name of the winner?
Still think that Adam coming in second was due to his personal life being outed the week? of the final and it was ‘controversial’ 🙃 a lot of homophobic backlash. Worked out amazing in the end with him not being tied by the winner’s contract
