I love this, you did such a great job! Very cute and could be done in a number of different mineral styles like quartz, marble, white cement/stucco or even alabaster.

how could that be done? with quartz or marble?
@@lishr4536 I'm certainly no expert, but some people are good at figuring out what materials and techniques to use to mimic quartz or marble for these kind of craft projects. There's quite a few YT creators who have tried and have had pretty good results, I recommend searching for how-to videos with that kind of content.

This is definitely one of the best cardboard furniture videos I've seen. What a wonderful way to reuse all those extra boxes we get these days. Such a unique design and it looks amazing! Reminds me of the cubbies in primitive caves. I'm going to have to try this! How heavy is it? Do you think you could make one that is larger? Like one that stands as a piece on its own?🤔🤨😃

My is not that heavy and quite steady. I've seen people doing bigger projects buy they were using wood instead of cardboard.
I think bigger shelf would be to fragile and healthy to carry it's own weight. 😉

this is incredible, well done. How much did it weigh in the end. I would like to try make one that is about 1.8m high, but I am concerned about the weight. Your's look amazing!!

it's about 4kg. So if you plan making such a tall one, make sure the structure is strong enough to hold its own weight. Maybe thicker cardboard and more plaster around. It's one of this thing, you have to try out to see if its going to work. 😀

Hi! Thanks for the video! I will try this. Do you think using a glossy masking tape will make a difference when you apply the jointing tape and glue? I noticed that you used a paper masking tape.
I think the glossy tape my effects on how well the plaster sticks to it.
@@simplybya yes this is the case 😅 it is adhering but a paper is much better. I will definitely have to seal it. Any suggestions? Thank you 🙏🏾
Would mod podge work instead of PVA glue? I have been using that throughout my cardboard dollhouse build so I was hoping that would work as a sealer instead
Mod Podge and PVA glue are both polyvinyl acetate (PVA) based adhesives, but they are not exactly the same. Mod Podge is a slightly thicker and more fluid version of PVA glue, and it also contains other ingredients that give it a glossy finish and make it more durable. So, I think you can either use pod podge or PVA glue.
Can this method still work if I use already built shelf and add on top of that the cardboard on top then the plaster?
Of course. You can put plaster on almost anything. Just prepare it well with the tape and PVA glue. 😊
Does it feel secure like it won’t cave in over time? Theres not a lot of support between the shelves
It's pretty solid I would say. Holds well all the small decorations. 😊
What is the material for plaster? Is it different from brick wall plaster?
It's exactly the same thing. Plaster you would use on the walls.

Yes

It's a multi-finish plaster.

Of course there is some weight to it. But I could easily move it from place to place. ☺️
