    Perfect video. It has all the information needed without being overly long, or technical. excellent work.

    Hi FixitSam, thank you so much for posting this video. I have a Black Max 3650 generator with the Chinese version of the GX200. When I first got the machine several years ago it started fine but approximately two years ago (out of the blue) it wouldn't start. Of course it was really cold out so I preheated the cylinder with a torch and it started right up. I never dreamed that an engine with as few hours on it would need a valve lash adjustment so I looked for other reasons for the problem. After I couldn't find any other reason for the refusal to start unless hot, I popped the valve cover off and eureka!!! The exhaust valve had no lash at all. I adjusted the valves per your video and the engine started with one pull on the cord. Thanks again for posting this video.

    Just what I was looking for. This Honda clone engine is on a pressure washer and the recoil ripped out of my hands and back fired, so I knew it had to be the valves. I've been doing valves on tractors and mowers but never a pressure washer so knowing now that I have to find TDC with this particular engine. Thanks again

    Be careful if you over tighten the valve clearance on the feeler gage you can ruin the accuracy of the gage, as it gets deformed Always remove the feeler gage before tightening the lock nut, afterwhich recheck the clearance Do not crush the feeler gage. The gage may flatten and become dished then the accuracy is ruined.

    U should have shown how to determine TDC Top Dead Center.
    Using both the screwdriver method
    And the
    Finger over the spark plug hole method.

    Does anyone know the lash adjustment measurement number for a car feeler gauge oppose to the numbers on small engine feeler gauge don’t want to mess it up and seems as if I have different units of measurement

    Hi man, great video, do you have the service manual for this type of engine ? if yes are you willing to share it with me ?

    Much easier way, turn the flywheel(engine) until one valve is fully down for example turn it untill the exhaust valve is down then adjust the intake valve, and vice versa

    Would the valves cause the engine to refuse to start, and possibly backfire? Just replaced the carb, the engine has been sitting for like 15 years...

    • @FixitSam
      @FixitSam  Před 4 lety

      Does it have good compression. Backfire could be a timing issue, check the flywheel key

    This video is useless because it is missing steps. You can't vocally tell someone to do something that they've never done without showing them first. You need to show how to get to TDC.

    • @petecatch
      @petecatch Před 10 měsíci

      The video is far from useless, anyone attempting to check the valve clearances should already know how to get to TDC

      @@petecatch You're comment is an oxymoron seeing as it's a "How to" video. Stfu. You people are damn near retarded nowadays.
      You're wrong, deal with it by yourself.
