i watched this video a year ago just for fun and never expect myself buying it since the price is crazy. But today i just picked up the fle 2 after selling other lenses. so exciting and can't wait to go out with it.
Just a side note. Something ALL CZcamsrs do these days and I have no idea why it started, but it's this: "I, personally..." "I personally own this camera ..." No need for "personally." It's simply: "I own this camera..." Love your video. It inspired me to buy the 35mm. Mine isn't a commentary on your video, but more a statement on the many tropes in the millions of CZcamsr created review videos. It's right up there with: "What up CZcams" "welcome back to my channel" and the gloriously worn out "so let's get into it."
Very nice review. I was interested in this lens for several years and decided on the Zeiss 35mm F1.4 Distagon for my SL2-S because of the way the Zeiss isolates subjects from background. It's also razor sharp. The only thing I don't is the weight penalty, so again I'm thinking about the Summilux 35mm FLE v1 or 2.
I was about to buy the V1 used, then found out about the new version so I have it on order. Very few actually shipped out, so I've been waiting... waiting... HOWEVER, I found out recently that production has been halted on it due to technical problems so we may be waiting a LONG time... bummer...
The reason why I got into Leica was the experience and size. I wanted a small, fast 35 but I still find this 35 FLE V1 lens too big and heavy for daily carry. The 35 summicron is about the same size with the hood on so I find myself going back to my 35 Nokton, again for daily use. Hell, even the Nokton was too big so I just got a 40mm Summicron C. Loving the size of this lens and ad f2, it is fast enough.
Love my 35 Summilux FLE rendering. The subject in fokus is rendered great, and it has a rare kind of bokeh with a mix of soft dreaminess and great painterly fussiness that I have not seen in any other lens.
Nice video and pictures, although I was missing a bit more comparison of their bokeh. For example, I am not a fan of the APO-Summicron-M 35 exactly because of the bokeh. But does the old FLE have more emotion to its rendering and bokeh, or has the FLE v2 improved that? Does it still feel as dreamy as the v1? Or has it become a bit too clinical?

I don’t know but I think the v2 also renders a bit different. Much more to my liking. And I am not talking about bokeh only.
