  • “Ever wondered why we react so differently to the same situations in a relationship? Attachment styles - anxious, avoidant, and secure - are one of the factors that determine how we operate in our relationships and life. Someone with an anxious attachment style may be needy and keep feeling anxious; someone with an avoidant attachment style may shut down in difficult situations and those with a secure attachment style may be more understanding. These attachment styles stem from how we were raised as children, and indicate how we’d behave in our day-to-day exchanges with people.”
When it comes to navigating the complexities of relationships, Ekta Dixit, a relationship coach, is a beacon of light, passionately guiding individuals on the journey of self-discovery and growth, ultimately leading to fulfilling relationships.
By creating content on love, childhood traumas, and healthy and toxic patterns in relationships, among several other topics, she offers eye-opening insights that initiate conversations and even help people cultivate a deeper understanding of their relationships.
Delve into a conversation that’s all about love! Ekta shares her insights and expertise on varied topics-from the definition of love to how it has evolved, from the ‘orange peel’ theory to ghosting and how to deal with it, and lots more. Ekta also decoded some modern millennial slang for us, and we had fun talking about red, green, and the gazillion-colored flags there are!
The conversation will leave you with a little more understanding about love and relationships than you began with… So, do not miss it!
    We also spoke about:
How to build meaningful relationships today
Why is it difficult to find love today?
    Dating apps and boundaries
    Attachment styles
    Communication advice for couples
How to find and attract love?

I really appreciate the work done by Humans of Bombay and while I really liked this conversation, I think that the explanation of attachment styles is quite reductive. It is A- not secure, avoidant and anxious. Attachment styles fall under the broad categories of secure and insecure and then insecure attachment consists of avoidant, anxious and disorganised attachment. B- There are several models that define attachment under which you can look at attachment from a dynamic and a categorical perspective, however, Ekta completely convoluted the point here. I am pointing this out because she mentioned research quite a few times. C- It is high time, we take the onus away from the mother in fundamentals of attachment and instead put it on both primary caregivers, which includes same sex parent, fathers etc. It is not fair to quote mother as an example every time we are talking about attachment because research shows attachment also stems from father being distant or proximal as well. I understand that you are trying to communicate complex ideas to a broad audience, but I do feel that our facts need to be right and well-informed otherwise this can very easily go into mis-information.

I don't think so because unemployment is uncertain. This can happen after you get married too. There are some girls who are ready to commit and do not care about the financial status of a guy. If they both want, they can build their empire from scratch and I think we all should normalize this.

Came here for the thumbnail only: Bunny wasn't a red flag because he didn't know himself or got into casual hookups (everyone is not self aware and perfectly put together and serious from the get go, and they don't have to be!), but he WAS a red flag because he was extremely self involved. He was an absolute dick to Avi, even after coming back. If exploring the world was Bunny's "growing up phase", coming back to India wasn't his "mature phase" which should have been. Insulting his friend while knowing absolutely nothing, and not even being genuinely interested in what's up with him, or Aditi for that matter. Even his confession to Naina was all about himself - I want this, I felt this, bas ho gaya. He's not a bad person, but as a friend or a partner he's awful. These kind of people are so much better off alone, and I don't say this unkindly. Not everyone is made for relationships.
IMO Naina loved Bunny because Bunny loved himself, unlike Naina who hadn't yet learned to love herself. He was confident, passionate about his dreams, and those are really good qualities in a person.

I learnt about the attachment styles . Cause I was very curious on why things were not working.
I told him that this is the reason as to why we are fighting a lot.
I talked to him about it. I talked about our attachment styles.
He learnt about them and went back to square 1.
So yeah. It’s really going to be hard for a person who has anxious attachment. Cause the other person doesn’t care. No matter what you do.
Anxious attachment style should face their fears of being left alone, or the fear of cheating, or whatever insecurity. Cause no matter how much you want to work upon your relationship if the avoidant person has zero intention or is too scared to work on it. Then u better leave the connection.

And also everyone not every genz is same or have same kind of actions n not necessarily every mellennial is always right...
