your missing or discounting the point on the whole PSN account thing, nobody likes making an account, you might think it's as simple as making an account but at the end of the day, when will this kind of practice end?
on PC it is beginning to feel like every damn game requires this nonsense, we should just be able to purchase the game on the one account via steam and not have to go through these hoops constantly for every god damn game in existence, i hate doing this for Ubisoft and i hate doing it for EA, and the same for Rockstar, an on and on, i have outright not purchased games for some game developer's for this very reason alone, back when i first joined steam yeah i did the whole Ubisoft signup nonsense thing but after that i have seen more than just Ubisoft participating in this idea and to be honest i'm literally sick and tired of it, gaming shouldn't be this damn complicated, it should just work by the first account via through steam and no other game should force the player to make an account to play their game on their launcher either, especially if it's a single player game for crying out loud.
then there are some other issue from PlayStation on this idea of the getting scanning tech to scan your face and to know your full identity just to play a fucking game, again when does this nonsense stop? it seems to have no end, and to be honest it's about damn time people start fighting back on this nonsense, PlayStation can go suck a bag of dicks for all i care i will not be purchasing any of their games so long as they keep pushing this nonsense, but this is only one topic that we are talking about, you have to understand within the gaming industry that some of these things have been a long time coming, we hate the fact that every game that has been made is all about spreading the DEI ESG message and damn the art, we play games to get away from this shit, not be forced to endure it within our entertainment, like seriously gaming is a escape or at least it used to be, now it's just straight up indoctrination and endless politics, we fucking hate this shit in our games.
all i can say is it's been a long time coming and finally people started paying attention and started fighting back, which was needed for over the last decade but i suppose with things like this, it takes time before people have had enough, it takes time for them to notice the issues before they hit their threshold of they can't take it anymore, i hate the indoctrination i hate the forced behavior's i hate the sanitized censorship in every media we consume, it first started in music and then it moved into movies and then tv shows and now it's in the very games we play, i want everything woke to go broke, which means i'm willing to sacrifice my hobby in gaming for a little while so that these company's stop with this nonsense, and if a few companies go bankrupt, so be it, sometimes you have to purge out the filth in order to start over a new.
what's most sad is we gamers kind of allowed this nonsense to happen until it broke down the infrastructure enough that it started to weigh heavy on our hearts to the point where we just want a great reset of the gaming industry because so much of it is already destroyed due to all the infused nonsense.
most people that i have heard from who have played Valhalla don't like the game, this listing of how many people purchased a game doesn't really mean anything, when you look at how many people purchased starfield and regretted it after some hours, do you look at the game as a success? or do you look at it from a realistic view that the hype made it so people were praising the game when it came out even when it wasn't that great.
the game is very mid or mediocre, but it sold fuck tons right? people have to liked it right? look it's not like someone can give the game back after playing after more than 2 hours of gameplay, so this idea that they sold a shit load of copies is bullshit reasoning and you know it, you are simply only going off of the idea of sold copies when a lot of people are having huge regrets in purchasing the game, but it's now too late to give it back now isn't it?
now take that same concept with this idea of Valhalla, it might have been great in the beginning but it took players some time playing the game to notice it's main issues in why it's so bad of a game, some people enjoy it but they are not the majority from what i have heard, and you would think it was hard to find people who hated the game but it's super easy for some reason, it defies all logic somehow.
here is what pisses me off the most about Ubisoft, it's the fact that the company wants us gamers to not own our games and you can see this mentality in the way they have been pulling some games or content off of steam that people have outright purchased, plus their CEO states that gamers should get comfortable with not owning their games, well since i know their game and what they will do no matter what even when they denied this before making these decisions a year earlier.
i for one have began to realize that the games i purchased will one day be pulled off of steam simply because Ubisoft wants to force people to purchase these games again or get on their unlimited subscription service, so you end up never owning your games and you just end up paying for the privilege to play these games via subscription fees for the rest of your life, that to me is outright stealing and now i just want the company to go bankrupt, i will not purchase anything from them now or in the future, i would rather extend the same message to them, Ubisoft are going to have to become comfortable with going bankrupt due to this one stupid thing they started out of greed.

As a Japanese individual, I am saddened that my 13,000-year history is being used as fodder for foolish American politics. They were supposed to make a single game that accurately portrayed Japanese history.
Yasuke is an interesting character in Japanese history, and his story should have been treated separately as a historical figure. But as you mentioned, all characters in Assassin's Creed games are fictional. So why do they suddenly decide to make the character historical in AC:Shadows ? It's because Ubisoft knows that by making the character Black, they have to add historical material to give their argument a defensible basis.
This is no different from whitewashing. In trying to combat racism, you've created a different kind of racism yourself.
I know how you're feeling man. I am Italian and till Ezio we italians were just a mix of Super Mario and Mafias. To be honest i hoped you guys could get a character that would negatively represent your nation, but this... this is worse. Is like if someone was trying to be racist to you by saying 'fLied Lice, order 103' , 'BTS are soo cool ' and 'Tokyo is beautiful, best city of India' together .... how do you even answer to that kind of Ignorance?
The thing about the adding the ACTUAL yasuke as playable is that historically he was very restricted by oda nobunaga as his literal trophy as a shogun. So to make it "IMMERSIVE" like AC1's crossbow removal, Yasuke needs to be a limited character just like haytham in AC3. Most people would be interested if the game heavily focused on Naoe instead of him.
In AC Odyssey, I fight a minotaur and Medusa. Also, Pythagoras is the father of Kassandra. He should be dead for hundreds of years but is kept alive by a magical staff. He passes it on to Kassandra, and she lives for 2500 years.
Ezio is a white Italian protagonist in the Ottoman Empire.
Eivor is the reincarnation of Odin and is the protagonist in the Anglo-Saxon period. The assassins are Arabs. There is no Anglo-Saxon assassin in Valhalla. After Eivor finishes conquering all of England, he goes on to be the protagonist in "Siege of Paris."
@@dailyhubranx the problem is Yasuke is a person who exist in our reality and his well-known history must've been recorded accurately in the animus database by abstergo before Codename:Red(AC:Shadows event). Inaccuracies of ezio's record is because he is abstergo subject 17(desmond)'s ancestors and you are simulating his memories based on desmond's DNA WITH animus glitches and no historical record in the animus database.

Like all I wanted from an AC set in japan, was to be fictional version of one of famous samurai throughout their history but with a fictional twist like being able to fight Yamato no Orochi and recreating the Kusanagi no Tsurugi. If inserting diversity into games is so important make a game about the countless of African kingdoms throughout history, those would be badass and probably get love if done correctly. Not everything has to reflect the world we live in today, but that's probably why ubisoft is losing more and more fans each year.

See I have the opposite perspective, all I want is to play a ninja and sneak around taking out samurai from the shadows and here it is, so I would never touch the samurai option no matter who it is so I just don't care. My advice, if it matters that much to you just wait a bit and check to see if the pc release gets any mods for swapping character models, they can make the game better, I know I enjoyed Jedi Fallen Order alot more when I swapped Cal out for Ahsoka and GTA V when I changed Michel for Faith from mirrors edge and Trevor and Franklin out for some more generic female bodies from the online. Yeah, it won't change the story beats, but since more then 90% of the game is outside cut-scenes I never really minded those moments of disconnect myself.

I don't personally mind Yasuke being a main character in the game, neither do i mind Naoe and i can't for the life of me understand why people would ever do so. However, i feel for the Japanese male crowd who might feel like they've been robbed of the chance to play an assassins creed game as a person who can represent their heritage, much like i felt hyped about playing a Viking, being a Swedish person.
On another note, i feel like a lot of people in the comments are missing the point. A lot of the media you guys watch are meant to rile you up, they're meant to steer you away from a healthy middle ground in social politics and this goes BOTH WAYS. Don't be racist, sexist, or any of the millions of isms. But neither should you force an agenda on to people, much like what we can see from the politically extreme bloggers and "unlicensed journalists". Again, being from Sweden i am sick and tired of being dragged in to US politics where EVERYTHING has to do with either race, religion, sexual orientation or any of the other topics that frankly wouldn't even have any kinds of regulations surrounding them if people could just learn to respect on another.
Diversity is good when it is done with authenticity and respect and this is indisputable, none of you could possibly disagree with this. But a lot of the time i feel like it is implemented with the sole purpose of pissing off white men of America so you guys can get further pushed as a common enemy of the left. I understand why some people who aren't even Asian might be a bit cranky that Ubi has broken consistency. My thing is why does being black mean DEI. Could it not be just because he is a cool character with a blank slate that can be molded for a great story surrounding his time period. Could it not be because his story revolves around the 3 unifiers? Why does his skin color determine the content of the game? Can it not be that this Ubisoft team just wanna differentiate themselves from the competition that has come before it?
Prolly the reason why people hate on this shit so much is because it’s freaking Ubisoft making the game and we know how much people would shit on Ubisoft(for valid reasons of course). If it’s another studio from a company that has a good reputation making this game, people’re gonna be okay.
Edit: What people should be mad about instead is the pricing, which is insane. $130 for the quote on quote ‘Ultimate Edition’. Fuck Ubisoft.
Perhaps if a more beloved studio did something like this people would indeed not be as hostile about it. But that doesn't change the fact that this is just blatant racism. Well it's a nice and well constructed criticism.
But i agree that a lot of people didn't even have played the game.
I even went to ubisoft japan trailer of AC shadow and translated the comments it was funny to see that a lot of it weren't japanese people.
However we can't denied that the entertainement industry is tainted with propaganda and activism istead of art. ( no talking about Ac)
But in general. So i get why some of it are quick to judge nowaday due to overall saturation.
Wheither it is movies, school teaching, work policies and more.
So sometimes it gets in people's nerve. And some take advantage of it.
As for the game on itself i wait for 3 things:
1) gameplay
2) lore and if the game is interesting enough to me.

usually, i would be up in arms for something like this but unlike...other individuals. I know that you cant win every battle nor should you try to. The fact of the matter whether you like it or not, is that Yasuke was both a black man and more importantly REAL A PERSON.
While this should absolutely not be used as a shield or a sword to deflect/reflect any valid criticism of his use in the game. It is important to keep in mind. If he wasn't real all this criticism would be entirely justified, however in my personal opinion its not really up to us. If japan is fine with it (judging by pre-orders they are) tjrn we should be too, regardless of your political affiliation or personal opinion.

look I get what you're saying and it's true a lot of channels that claim to be in favor of entertainment over agenda trieve on drama, for example I will never forget how channels like clownfish tv tear the "x-men 97" apart before it came out, but never talk about it after it came out, why? the show ended up being pretty good and had very iconic scenes, it would be embarassing to admit they were wrong, and literally screaming "woke" to everything that has a gay or black character is truly non-sense...Having said you lost me the minute you started defending microtransactions it makes you sound tone deaf to the whole gaming issue at best, company mouthpiece at worst.
Look it's true that companies require revenue to continue making games but what if I tell you that does not justify reducing the quality of a product because "meh, they'll buy it anyways, let's just add a $50 dollar armor later" and since this way of thinking is working they go "oh cool they didn't care we reduced the quality... let's lay off 50% of out staff we don't need that many people for this quality of game" so you see being complacent to the scummiest practice in the industry has real world consequences, also let's go back to the yasuke drama, in the past Ubi only used historical figures as either supporting characters or enemies yet all of the sudden, Yasuke of all historical figures suddenly is playable, doesn't that strike you as odd? to me at least is planfully clear why they did this, it's the same logic that made a black jarl in vikings and a black cleopatra only this time is historically justified.

I wanted to keep it short, and just address it a bit for context. But I didn't want to sound like I was defending Microtransactions. And in my personal experience I never felt like missing out by not buying a premium or deluxe edition. And I did say what would really suck is if they'd make us pay extra money for the ending of the games.
look, the Odin Story line in Valhalla could have been a whole separate DLC but they kept that in. Contrast that with Odyssey Atlantis dlc that we had to pay for.
Lastly, I wanna emphasized how those mythical skins sucked and took me out of the immersion.
When I play assassin's Creed, the last thing I wanna do is ride a bear, huge would, flaming horse ,or a dinosaur.
I probably should've also mentioned that nobody should ever get the 17 a month subscription either. Hope that clears it out.
@@dailyhubranx The fact of the matter is that you don't seem to think AC quality has been on a nose dive since black flag, ever since origins the franchise has lost what made the game unique that is a parkour action game with assassinations, now they just copy every other action rpg under the sun hoping something sticks the microtransactions are just the cherry on top, overly expensive DLC, and many other things tactics to keep selling stuff after the game's release, THAT'S the main issue here, that's what ACTUAL GAMERS have a problem with, people are focusing on the wrong part of the problem, both pople that are complaining and praising yasuke are not talking about how ubisoft is getting away with yet another half-assed game riddled with micro transactions.

BG3 was "woke" af, with canon LGB main and side characters, pronouns, etc, and nobody cared.

As for the people white-knighting for Japan... Japan is the 4th largest economy in the world, makes anime and games more popular than anything the West does.

also thought i would mention, people did have issues with some of these things you listed but it never became viral like this recent event, but it was back when people didn't take notice as often as we do today, why all the diversity representation in every media we consume suddenly?
but it's not sudden, it's been going on for a while now and people have always talked about it but it was never viral except on the other side of people demanding more representation, but it's becoming more of an issue because it's being forced down the pipeline more than ever before and that's why it's starting to hit that metaphorical threshold of annoyance.
people are sick and tired of it, they are sick and tired of the subversion of history and the race swapping and forced diversity, they don't like how quickly things are changing or escalating into this direction, back in the 90s i used to love watching an old show called star trek and that show was progressive, but they were far more subtle about the propaganda back then, fast-forward to today and it's everywhere and it's being forced on people and weaponized to attack people who don't like it, if you want people to accept the message perhaps the wisdom is subtly as they once did back in the 90s, because when you force change on people at large, they begin to want to reject it at every turn as they feel the walls closing in on them from every direction.
i remember back before Obama ran as president, the whole race tensions were not an issue, but the moment he came to office he started to use race diversity politics he campaigned on the idea and he caused the race wars to start again like it was the 1960s again, when everything was going good before he was elected or at least they were better in race relations, and today everyone is so damn divided because they won't stop or slow down.
part of me feels like they want a war because they won't let go because they keep causing this division, people are finally taking notice and finally fighting back, like holy shit when they brought up the idea that you can't be racist against white people that is unheard of simply because it's still racist and people keep trying to gaslight that it's not the same, but this is bad for the entire nation because it only means war the further we go with this idea and mentality.

Assassin's Creed is not a documentary, it's fiction inspired by history...
the main story yes, but everything else is supposed to be real historical value, go back to assassins creed within the Ezio trilogy, the main story was fiction sure, but everything else outside that was based in real history even down to the city architectural buildings and layout to the politics and character's to the people and language, of course they sort of had to abridge the whole animus translating the spoken words.
i'm an OG assassins creed fan, i have tried some of the new stuff but i feel they are very lacking in the ways that matter the most, but they are nice looking games at least.
i liked the slightly more realistic fighting of the older games, the new ones you have to stab a motherfucker 99 times to take him out lol, it's just a slogfest in the new games where every NPC is a tank hit sponge.
