Cryptic self penned almost D-Day memorial to my late father , who was in the Navy from the age of 16 and who was actually passing by Monte Cassino (qv .. Italy ) in a truck on D-Day, 1944 . Hence the references to ' Benbow , Victory , Renown ' ( all pretty well known RN ships ..). These things get under your skin . He never did actually open a wine bar in Bermuda :-) .
There's a verse cut from this version as the live vesrion came out pretty lengthy .. see if you can spot the join ..
The end screen links include some video from the Anzio landings ( Jan 1944 ) in which the old geezer DID partcipate , where his unfortunate c/o got his leg blown off .
