In this video, I discuss how West Africa's most beautiful city was created and why Nigeria moved its administrative capital from Lagos to Abuja.
Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria is arguably the most beautiful and the most developed in terms of infrastructure in the West Africa region.
Abuja is known for being one of the few purpose-built capital cities in Africa as well as being one of the wealthiest and most expensive but there’s more to the city of Abuja than meets the eye.
Abuja lies in the central part of Nigeria, in the Federal Capital Territory. It is one of the few capital cities in the world that is built from scratch, from an architectural plan such as Brasilia in Brazil and Canberra in Australia. It was built mainly in the 1980s based on a master plan by Japanese Architect Kenzo Tange.
Abuja replaced the country's most populous city of Lagos as the capital on 12 December 1991 under the leadership of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, the president at the time. The initial work for Abuja's planning and implementation were carried out by the Military Government of General's Murtala Mohammed and Olusegun Obasanjo and carried over into the Civilian Government Administration of Alhaji Shehu Shagari. Construction started in the late 1970s but, due to economic and political instability, the initial stages of the city were not complete until the late 1980s.

@@IamAfrikan it's an unbiased opinion and I want it to be better... The visuals are good but you also need to improve by matching the title with the narrative, you seem to concentrate more on the history and the reason Abuja came up than the beauty you made the topic... Cheers!!!

Beautiful city. Pakistans Islamabad too was build in 1960s and became a capital of Pakistan. I've heard somewhere that Abujas map was taken from Islamabad. Islamabad was kept in mind to make Abuja. Can't wait to visit someday ❤🇵🇰

It was a smart move to move the capital to Abuja looking at Lagos now…..but how i wish the government can plan Nigeria as a country, so well the way they planned Abuja

I agree with you brother. It shouldn't just be only about the capital city. Every part of the country should be functioning with the right infrastructure. Thanks for the comment.

This Abuja video is very educational. Good thing I didn’t scroll past your video, owing to my usual assumption that your focus topics is mainly anything Ghana. I personally wonder why would a Nigerian focus to project another country in a positive way when the same people he promotes does the exact opposite to portraying negativity to his own country Nigeria. Again, thats just my personal thoughts. Its your prerogative you chose to do what you do. I just can’t fathom the level of hatred some Ghanaians exhibits toward Nigeria. ..it’s baffling. Anyway, In a nutshell, nice educational video on Abj👍🏾
