The upgrade is usually 1 step upgrade from whatever room you have booked. Meaning you will be upgraded to deluxe room if you booked a standard room and you won't get a suite upgrade from standard room even if you are an IHG ambassador. I worked for IHG, handling rewards club program and ambassador programs for 6 long years.
At my hotel, the suites are one-step upgrades from standards. And we upgrade several people a day, at no cost, just to keep some cheap rooms open. Even without that, upgrades are often available for our members, which is a free program. IHG hotel btw ✌️
It kinda depends on the hotel's policy and what is available. The hotels are franchise after all, so they can say "We don't care as long as we have rooms available and no other bookings coming in." Like if a reservation is only 1 or 2 nights, current availability for that suite is showing nobody coming in for it and lots of availability, I will just upgrade to that rather than a deluxe anyway so I can ensure that the platinum and diamond get their upgrades.
There are at least a hundred reasons the staff that's checking you in can upgrade you and one that works all the time is being dressed well, super polite and having a genuine conversation. Works all the time!
My mom is a member of IHG rewards, and it’s honestly one of the most underrated hotel groups in the world. They have really great perks for their members. I stayed at the Intercontinental in Porto Portugal, and the room overlooked the main Boulevard. It was definitely one of the nicest hotels I stayed in in a long time.
Uuuummm...yup! This is true and definitely works. Though make sure you check the hotel/hotel chains policies and special programs, cause some require that you be a member for a at least a few months to a year. I know other tips as well. I worked the front desk of a Marriott, as the Night Auditor, so I ran the whole hotel overnight, by myself. In the downtown area of my hometown beside the large sports fields and concert and convention venues. 😘
Is delta by Marriott included? We were told we can do our stay at Delta and pay daily resort fees, or upgrade for a fee to vacation village resort but I wanna know is there other options if we stay Marriott
Of course, they give you an upgrade, but when you pay $200, there's a good chance that you'll choose Intercontinental on every trip, and won't look at other hotels and their prices. Win win situation 🤪
2:30:00 or so. Wax is fairly easy for sealing bottles but more messy and more time to set up (melt time and cool time). There's wax made for sealing food items, like cheese & bottles, and you just melt it in a crock pot and dip your corked/capped bottle or brush it on. It cools pretty quickly but will drip for a few seconds which can get everywhere. A silicone work pad is recommended. Homesteading or food preservation stores sell the wax, sometimes called cheese wax.
You have to be a social media or content creator to be able to be accepted as embassador because the free upgrade is not really free it means you promote their hotel for free in exchange for that. It'd up to them to weight the benefit. If you have no social media or little presence in the platforms they may not accept your sign-up.
For Intercontinental hotels, you can sign up on their website for free and then pay $200 to become Ambassador member for 1 year. They will guarantee room upgrade.
I never stayed at a hotel with an upgrade option because all the rooms of all hotels I stayed were basically the same. The difference was in the number of beds.
Depends on availability. I work at a property with a little over 100 rooms and sometimes have 20+ ambassador members checking in and we only have 3 suites on property. I do my best to accomodate any guest, however it is impossible to upgrate every elite member. The entitlement some guest have when I tell them I can't upgrade them to a suite is absurd. Please treat the hotel staff with kindness, even if we don't place you in a room you didn't pay for lol
I actually worked for Intercontinental Hotel's reservations center. They told us not to promote this LOL but since we had commissions on how much revenue we secure, I would ALWAYS offer it to our guests. It comes with other great perks too like free access to their "VIP" lounge, definitely something I wanted to try for myself
These high membership tiers often guarantee what industry insiders call "force upgrade", but pending suite availability of course. The perk is useless if the hotel is out of suites to sell. They will still upgrade you to the next best roomtype assuming they weren't sold out, and they have to have enough room types that allow the Front Office team to upgrade the guest. Interesting fact is hotels oversell rooms, as airlines oversell seats and will upgrade the customer to business class. Now when the hotel oversells and every booked guest shoes up and the hotel is out of rooms, SOP is to "walk the guest" to the nearest most similar tier hotel. "Walk the guest" is an industry term that means all of the above.
Ehhh, Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts isn't as common as their other hotels (Mostly just in major cities), so if you get an opportunity to book at one and they have a suite available, I guess? But otherwise the IHG One Rewards Platinum and Diamond memberships are more useful since you get the suite upgrade potential, it works at A LOT more hotels of IHG's, and your points don't expire so you can build those up and get free stays. - [I work for IHG brand hotels.]
I used to work for Marriott. As far as I was aware, at least for Marriott brand hotels, one must earn points over a period of time to become higher tiers. Couldn't just pay $xxx and get instant higher tier perks.
Being an ambassador is different than member loyalty status, basically it makes you like a “promoter” for their hotel - it’s like an exchange of services
Okay that makes sense, I was a bit confused about what it means exactly to be an ambassador or how you become one, but being an influencer of sorts makes sense
I work for IHG. Yeah, this is one way we get people to join the programs as a marketing ploy. That and the late check-outs. Usually, they want to offer these things at the desk because we get benefits for signing people up.
If you had told them before "I am an ambassador, i want an upgrade" They would say they are sold out and cant upgrade. Its because you were ready to pay $1500 initially, they were ready
Yep when I used to travel for work, we always stayed at a specific brand so that we would get the points and free upgrades. We paid on our personal cards and the company reimbursed us.
I work in hospitality and I can say these are the most annoying people to deal with lmao next to the people who demand more for having a membership from staff that aren't even authorized to give them a lot of the stuff we do , neat trick tho
I think it should be worded as "guarantee an upgrade if one is available". If someone else is paying for it or has called ahead to request before you, you will not be getting that upgrade.
I was a front desk agent in Las Vegas and NO this will not ALWAYS work please do not be upset when the front desk person tells you that it’s not available it varies upon the business day and whether or not we’re slow thank you:)
Worked for an IHG hotel and please know it’s often subject to availability. But most likely you will get an upgrade unless there are some special things going on such as being overbooked. The beat membership is not listed on their website nor can be bought or collected with points through their membership. It’s called the “Spire Royal Ambassador” which is an invite-only membership usually reserved for important corporate, government or royal individuals. I have only encountered 1 in my time there. The hotel practically loses money with their stay as everything is 1. Heavily discounted 2. Big upgrades usually and 3. They can raid the mini bar in their room as much as they want as it costs them nothing also other benefits within the hotel services can apply but I don’t know all the benefits other than it’s a lot and being told we lose money on those guests.
yeah, this works if you have a massive influence on the internet, the made so much more money off of you posting their hotel than the money they lost upgrading you.
Slightly related. Harbor freight does a deal where it's 10% off for normal customers, 20% off for their members. Membership was $20/year, saved $100 with the extra 10%, so i saved $80 overall
I have worked in IHG for some time at the front desk and its true. Especially us as from front desk we are the ones advising this for the guest itself cause in the end the guest wins with it and the person who sells the ambassador too 😁
I have worked for IHG for almost 10 years. This is one of the tricks I used for signing up the new members… Every enrollment, i will get points. And… i can redeem points for free night stays at any IHG hotels….. 😊
Just to be fair, intercontinental hotel trains their front office to actually invite guests to be an ambassador member. Im sure that, that personnel would have already suggested you an upgrade if they know you are an ambassador member, but if you ask a question like that of course they will answer accordingly.
This works for Accor hotels also, I get a free upgrade almost every time unless there are no upgradeable rooms available like on a long weekend or a big event. Has some really excellent upgrades.
There's a few hotel chains that let you buy memberships for cheaper upgrades and such. Same for cruises. My mom and stepdad pay like $500 a year to be included in cruises round the world whenever they wanna join one, foodz lodging, etc paid for with the membership
Sometimes you can spend a little to get a lot more. It also can pay to be nice. This was pre 9/11, but I was boarding my flight and hanging out in line. I asked the attendant out of curiosity if someone can get a free or low cost upgrade and how. She looked at her clipboard and said this way. I got upgraded from economy!! She made my whole year+ ! CZcams hasn't recommended me your videos in a long time... I missed seeing them in my feed.
Same here
Uuuummm...yup!
Why is there like 20 people in her hotel room??🤣💗
EDIT: Oh my god, I'm famous!!! 1.6k likes!!! Thank you SO SO much my lovelies 🥰😘💗😊
Because most Asians, like me, like to go out with their immediate family members... which is about 20 other people. 😆
(I literally have 10 siblings 😆)
There was like 4 people lol - it was a soundtrack
@@andydietrich3689 there was way more than 4 people even without noise, use ears
@@justjqshing we can't use ears without noise/sound lol. U mean use eyes?

She's not just an Ambassador to the hotel, she's An Ambassador to the Community!
she’s got a full studio audience in her hotel room
“Hey can I get a free upgrade?”
“No”
*EMOTIONAL DAMAGE*
Lmaooooo
That works for pretty much all the chains, not just IHG, so always check, it's usually worth it! :)
How do you do this? Become an ambassador of a hotel?
@@Soccertz1 You can just sign up online. It's not that difficult
Girl got a whole audience in that room💀
THE WAY SHE SAID IT IN THE END SHE WAS SO HAPPY
How to become embassador of the hotel?
Why has nobody replied to this?
You become an embassador if you go to the hotel site and sign up!
You have to be a social media or content creator to be able to be accepted as embassador because the free upgrade is not really free it means you promote their hotel for free in exchange for that. It'd up to them to weight the benefit. If you have no social media or little presence in the platforms they may not accept your sign-up.
@@TheRiseOfIslam-2022 Ohhh so basically this video is how she got the suite?? Wish she explained HOW to be an ambassador
For Intercontinental hotels, you can sign up on their website for free and then pay $200 to become Ambassador member for 1 year. They will guarantee room upgrade.
"thank you very much"
"turns around"
"whyyyyy 😭😭😭😭😭"
I never stayed at a hotel with an upgrade option because all the rooms of all hotels I stayed were basically the same. The difference was in the number of beds.
Depends on availability. I work at a property with a little over 100 rooms and sometimes have 20+ ambassador members checking in and we only have 3 suites on property. I do my best to accomodate any guest, however it is impossible to upgrate every elite member. The entitlement some guest have when I tell them I can't upgrade them to a suite is absurd. Please treat the hotel staff with kindness, even if we don't place you in a room you didn't pay for lol
Aaah! We match in our LifeWorks outfits! ❤ enjoy Korea~~ hotels are so nice there
All I thought was that LAWYER TAUGHT YOU hahahahah
Her entire community enjoying that suite
I actually worked for Intercontinental Hotel's reservations center. They told us not to promote this LOL but since we had commissions on how much revenue we secure, I would ALWAYS offer it to our guests. It comes with other great perks too like free access to their "VIP" lounge, definitely something I wanted to try for myself
It’s THE move if you travel a lot! It’s genuinely cheaper in the long run, especially if you’re flying to different cities multiple times a month.
“Hi can I get a free upgrade?”
“No.”
Emotional damage 😂😂😂
Stevenhe 😂😂
"And... How do I know this works?"
"¡Porque sigo a Baijavier!"

It's giving 'Your rich bff' vibes
Her: We’re in Koreaaaa!!!
Me: Why are there so much people in one hotel room??
"she doesn't know I watch Jeenie Weenie. Watch this" *AcTuAlLy I rEaD yOuR TeRm AnD...*
Looks like we should all become an ambassador of intercontinental. Thanks, Jeenie.
**her friends casually watching her in front of the green screen**
ok so they have a ridiculous upgrade fee to make you feel like youre getting an amazing deal, while theyre just extracting another $200 from you
I used to work for Marriott. As far as I was aware, at least for Marriott brand hotels, one must earn points over a period of time to become higher tiers. Couldn't just pay $xxx and get instant higher tier perks.
Being an ambassador is different than member loyalty status, basically it makes you like a “promoter” for their hotel - it’s like an exchange of services
it thought she was gonna be like : ("I've secret life hack she doesn't know") *pulls up a glock * "now please upgrade my suite 🤣🤣
I think for that I need to be an influencer lol
Right
Okay that makes sense, I was a bit confused about what it means exactly to be an ambassador or how you become one, but being an influencer of sorts makes sense
Thank you Jennie I'll remember this when i go to Japan
I work for IHG. Yeah, this is one way we get people to join the programs as a marketing ploy. That and the late check-outs. Usually, they want to offer these things at the desk because we get benefits for signing people up.
If you had told them before "I am an ambassador, i want an upgrade" They would say they are sold out and cant upgrade. Its because you were ready to pay $1500 initially, they were ready
Okay. Now , all I need to do is to become an influencer.
Good for you. Thank you for letting us know. All the best regards to you 🙏
Yep when I used to travel for work, we always stayed at a specific brand so that we would get the points and free upgrades. We paid on our personal cards and the company reimbursed us.
Everyone trying to clown but she's right. 200 bucks and you get free upgrades for the year.
That's a way they get you to spend money with them no matter what
I work in hospitality and I can say these are the most annoying people to deal with lmao next to the people who demand more for having a membership from staff that aren't even authorized to give them a lot of the stuff we do , neat trick tho
“Cuz i just did it here in koreaaaaaa”
I don’t have the nerve to that
You go girl
i like the act especially when she went like ehhhhh enjoy ur stay 😅
am i the only one who realized that the cheering was a sound effect? 😭😭
I think it should be worded as "guarantee an upgrade if one is available". If someone else is paying for it or has called ahead to request before you, you will not be getting that upgrade.
Aaaah finallyy someone didn’t say because i follow asfdhffkflshitt😭😭💗
How do you know that?
I follow Jeenie and she is an expert so I don’t have to read the fine print 😂
Hahahahaha
Jeeniee!!❤️ Love 💓
I was a front desk agent in Las Vegas and NO this will not ALWAYS work please do not be upset when the front desk person tells you that it’s not available it varies upon the business day and whether or not we’re slow thank you:)
i never believe when people make videos like this but i feel like i could trust jeenie with my life
Jeenie Weenie is too cute🥰
How self aware can you possibly not be
Worked for them, it's not 100% guaranteed if all suits are already booked + it will be hell to actually get them to give you the upgrade
Bro, last part sounded like a whole crowd of people, and there was like only five people there😂😂😂😂
“ and to tell you that this actually works, I broke in!”
Everyone:”YAAAAY”
The girl at reception after watching this video
'you're done'
I have worked in IHG for some time at the front desk and its true. Especially us as from front desk we are the ones advising this for the guest itself cause in the end the guest wins with it and the person who sells the ambassador too 😁
Technically you're wrong and you're right too. It's not a free upgrade if you have to pay $200. However it's way better than paying $1500.
-Hi, Can I get a free upgrade?😊😊😊 "No"
Best quote ever.
"THIS IS THE FBI! UR UNDER ARREST FOR TRICKING THE HOTEL PPL"
So if you’re a ambassador, does it mean you have immunity for committing crimes in their hotel?
I have worked for IHG for almost 10 years. This is one of the tricks I used for signing up the new members… Every enrollment, i will get points. And… i can redeem points for free night stays at any IHG hotels….. 😊
“hi can i get a free upgrade 😄”
“No.🤪”
Just to be fair, intercontinental hotel trains their front office to actually invite guests to be an ambassador member. Im sure that, that personnel would have already suggested you an upgrade if they know you are an ambassador member, but if you ask a question like that of course they will answer accordingly.
This is how you define a ✨️✨️✨️Typical Asian SAVAGE!!!❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥✨️✨️✨️✨️

Me: Hi, can I get a free upgrade?
Them: No, but 😂
„One second please“
*pulls out fully loaded gun*
Ok so can I get that free upgrade now
This works for Accor hotels also, I get a free upgrade almost every time unless there are no upgradeable rooms available like on a long weekend or a big event.
As a Hotelier I LOVE confirm this I'd TRUE! And also applies to us as Employees!!! 😁🙌🏾🎉
Great memory.
Did the same thing, got a really nice corner room. But the regular rooms are expensive in the US.
