I always used to believe the kangaroos were bulletproof UNTIL tiny little Tonga beat them and then the kiwis thrashed the daylights out of them in 2023 😂🤣
🤣agree
Disagree still bulletproof just get clipped in the arm or legs sometimes .Vest only covers the vitals .
We are, We lost on purpose. Would rugby league grow if we win all the time
The Aussies come across as not really caring about the jersey. State of Origin is the pinnacle of rugby league, and the Tests etc are treated like a holiday.
That Tongan team was made up of Kiwis and other Australians.
As a certified coach
80s- 90s - This is true rugby league. That’s what I teach, use the ball / unpredictable / set plays etc
They use the ball, and not predictable
And they knew how to hit Todays players , would. Leave the field in fear:/ tears / injured
Todays game , watch one, you’ve seen them all . They are weight lifters who all play the same style
Up around d the ruck , then spread it to 2nd towers playing were centres should be . No structured moves / constructive plays
All players are “mates” with referees, who call players by the first names .
Can the old style of RL be brought back?
Not sure what "true" rugby league is but would agree this is the most enjoyable to watch (and to play). In terms of innovative plays, unpredictability, and the characters on field, the modern game just doesn't compare. In terms of fitness, strength, structure, intensity and discipline however, the modern day teams would absolutely annihilate teams from the 80s/90s. The modern day approach is more about maximising winning chances through conservative structure and breaking teams down over time via high completion rates and defensive synchronicity. Sure, a random chip and chase or Harlem Globetrotters style play might work once in a while, but given the risk, it doesn't fit the conservative approach that maximises winning chances. If you're coaching youth players who want to make it pro, you should be coaching the modern day style, otherwise you're setting them up for failure.
@@NoEvidenceForGodBeen looking for this. Thanks mate

Wish he'd come back for origin at least, he said he would be interested in doing it too.
@@bodycountplays2915 that would be magical.
@@pine4pplelumps738 he said he has a few more origins left in him, but I think he said that a year or two ago, idk if we will ever get it again though, he turns 81 on the 11th of this month.
@@bodycountplays2915 the nrl need to entice that man to return for 1 last dance in the state of origin series. Can always hope I suppose mate.
This game should have had the Paul brothers and Apollo Perelini playing for the rest of the world side .
no
@@deklerkverwoerd7721 why not?
Super league - the beginning of the end of true league. The demise of three grades . Demise of club pride ,
Game is still ruined, no three grades on game day / club championship .
Remembering going to the game at noon for u23’s/3rd grade / reserve grade and 1st at 3pm . All three games - all the sane team
You are soo whiny holy shit lol I feel bad for your wife/husband

@@cumbrianmackem9296 oh was that when the NRL split with some going to a super league?
@@clockworkman8210 sure was. Lasted for 1 season if memory serves me.
This was 97 the rest of the world were with super league so this was a left overs team.
They definitely have kikau and Justin Olam from PNG.
1997 Bro
Ah yes, the time when all the leftovers from the super league war had to invent a team for Australia to play against. What a time to be alive.
Australian side is mostly NSW
Looks like NSW vs the rest of the world 😂
If today teams played against any of this team they would be carried out in stretches
Spot On. Imagine getting smashed by Chief and Spud….
It’s cute you believe that 😂
N7 of Australian national team is a Geoff Toovey. Was he really better than Jason Taylor from the Bears?
Yes, Toovey was a much better player, both in terms of ability and the size of his ticker. Toovey played well above his weight. Taylor was pea hearted and was only good at goal kicking.
Yep ABSOLUTELY......
Tooves played FAR ABOVE his size n weight...... he was tuff as fk!!! Taylor? Not in the same league......
For starters ,Toovey's defence was world-class. Taylor had some sub-par periods with his defence.
Toovey was more a running half.
Only assets Taylor had over him was goal-kicking, and arguably long kicking game.
Toovey was much tougher. He would take on the props, tough little squirt.
rest of the world? sooo.....a few tiny Pacific island countries and the North of England now constitute "the world" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How American of Australia
...and tell me again how many countries have won the union world cup? Ha! Ha! ...yeah nah!
Do your research, Cletus. This was in 97, during the Super League war. All the Super League (Australian) players had been banned with no Broncos, Warriors, Bulldogs, Raiders, Sharks and so on. It was a second string side with some test players and fringe players at the time. The Rest of World side was not made up of hacks. Credit where it’s due, both teams had a red hot go and there were Legends playing who were at the start of there careers.
It was a Pacific Island Nation that knock team G B our of the world cup,,,,,but keep whinging!
Maybe you should find out how many countries now play this game......obviously you dont know,
@tobinsarttrading1733 what an embarrassing "international" sport Rugby League is 😂
Ref decision was too racist as I've seen
do shut up
30 years too late to be pulling out the race card. 🙄
Should remain always like this instead of moving up and down all the time.
