കൊച്ചിക്കാരനായി ജനിച്ചതിൽ ഞാൻ ഏറെ അഭിമാനിക്കുന്നു. ഞാനൊക്കെ ജനിക്കുന്നതിനു പന്ത്രണ്ട് വർഷം മുൻപ് തന്നേ പാലത്തിന് താഴെകൂടെയുള്ള കപ്പലോട്ടം നിലച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്റെ ഉപ്പയോക്കെ കപ്പൽ പാലംമുറിച്ചു കടന്നുപോകുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എന്റെ തലമുറയിൽ പെട്ടവർക്ക് അത് കാണാനുള്ള ഭാഗ്യം ഉണ്ടായില്ല.... എന്തായാലും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് കാർ അന്ന് പണിതതുകൊണ്ട് കേരളത്തിലെ പല പാലങ്ങളും ഇപ്പോഴുമുണ്ട്. നമ്മുടെ മാറിമാറിവരുന്ന സർക്കാർ ആയിരുന്നു ഈ പാലങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ചതെങ്കിൽ എന്താകുമായിരുന്നു അവസ്ഥ എന്ന് ഞാൻ പറയാതെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ
