- New Orleans Native Charlie Andrews Gives a demonstration on how to make a 7UP pound cake from scratch. A New and Improved 7UP pound cake recipe, this pound cake is moist with a tender crumb. It is made with All Purpose flour, Unsalted butter, Sugar, eggs 7UP and a hint of Lemon flavor to enhance that 7UP flavor. I had been looking and trying lots of 7Up pound cake recipes. Trying to find one that was similar to my Grandma Lucy’s. I made yours and hand to God. It’s identical to hers. I cried when I ate the first slice. Not just because it was delicious but because it brought back so many memories of baking with her in her Louisiana kitchen. I even made one for my families fish fry and everyone kept saying how it was like Grandma was there and had brought the cake. Thank you so much Mr. Charlie for sharing your recipe. It was a blessing not just to me but my entire family. God bless you.

I followed your recipe, except I left my glaze a bit thicker. Let me tell you: DELICIOUS! It's light & moist and just the right amount of lemon flavor. It took me back to childhood, sitting on my aunt's front porch, sipping sweet tea & eating a piece of her 7-Up cake. Thank you for sharing this recipe-it is truly a taste of heaven.

My grandson followed it to the very end and the cake was delicious and moist and we couldn't believe how wonderful the icing was and he also made your red velvet cake, he was upset because his brother ate the last piece.
