    Thanks so much for the video and the instructions. This video was the only one I could find that had the same year and make. I was able to fix my 2016 Ford Explorer Sport with the exact same process. In case anyone is reading this looking for similar instructions. Slight differences, the seat back did not unzipper, so I had to reach in and maneuver under the seatback. Under the seat there was a 3rd screw holding the front of the blower module in.

    This is a very helpful video and well done. I have a 21 F150 XLT with cloth and heated front seats. I'm going to have leather seat covers installed with perforated inserts. I want to make the front seats cooled because I live in the south. I drove a 2020 SUV for a year with heated and cooled front seats and the cooling was great for summer. My question is, do my heated seats have TED's mounted in them for just heat, or can they be used for cooling if I put in the pass thru vent foam and perfed leather inserts and mod the wiring? Or do I need to replace my TEDs with other OEM Ford TEDS like u are showing that can heat and cool?

    • @jmjm3543
      @jmjm3543 Před 5 měsíci

      Did you ever install m ventilation? O got a 2021 with same heated cloth seats that I just purchased the lariat leather for and want to add ventilation. Wondering if you can give me any advise.

    • @ginginthing
      @ginginthing Před 5 měsíci

      No I never did because I decided I like the cloth better. I had a maxed out Highlander before the 150, that had leather with the TEDs. The seats look and smell great and the TEDs worked very well and fast, especially on a hot day when u first get in the vehicle. The cooling is instant. The replacement leather covers are better than the OEM leather and some companies make them for the owner to put on. If u r good with working on cars and things, this should not be a big deal. If u go with Katzkin, they only offer professional installation in the price. Might take you 3 times longer than a professional, but so what. The stock heating elements in the OEM cloth seats will not work with the TEDs. The TEDs are a different animal and very efficient. @@jmjm3543

    Is the TED unit responsible for heat in the seat back and the seat bottom? (One TED for each) As opposed to the copper heater element strips lightly glued to the seat cushions?
    The TED units suck up cool air from rear console vents and blow it up your tail end?

Back rest motor seems to work for approximately 30 second then nothing. The bottom motor will not work at all. I follows you video to replace the bottom motor but it has made no difference. Had the codes read and it says drivers seat control module earthed to ground? Is this the same on my 2014 F-150 FX4, the lights come on and I hear it but no heat or cooling?

      Could be a seating pad or blower you have to investigate

      Unbolted the passenger side seat from the floor flipped er up and didn’t seem and burn marks in the connector under the seat that goes from both seats, 30A fuse under the engine bonnet is good, now it seems I only hear the fan on under the passenger seat when I have the ac seat function on both… I’m clueless!

    On my 2016 the fan comes on quite powerful for a second or two then dies down. Is this normal?

    I have a 2015 explorer and the cooking unit for the bottom looks identical. However, I see that when the ac seat is on a lot of air just blows out against my calves through a duct right after the blower? Is it supposed to not connect to anything? I know one end goes up into the seat but the other just blows out under the seat? Why?

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  Před 2 lety

      Think about it man you can't have air sucking in if it can't blow out it's an exhaust for the blower

      @@FordBossMe ah that makes sense. Am I supposed to be feeling any air out of the seat perforations or is it supposed to just be channeling through the foam to cool the foam itself? Thanks for your feedback!
