  • When we think about catnip, we of course think about cats, right? They can be wildly entertaining when they get their paws on this bountiful herbal ally. Nepeta cataria may make our kitties highly stimulated, but it has the opposite effect on humans; it is a fantastic nervine, a calming, relaxing botanical that is ready to help when we’re stressed or have muscular-skeletal tension, and when we’re menstruating. It’s also an aromatic bitter, so acts as a soothing ally when our gut isn’t happy.
We recently went on a plant walk with our friend Shana Lipner Grover from @SageCountryHerbs to learn more about this gentle herbal ally. Hear what she’s got to say about how this beneficial member of the mint family can be a helpful addition to your apothecary.

This plant also protects against aphids in your garden, I use it around my hollyhocks & that way the flowers get a chance to open. Thanks so much for this video 🤗

My cat is having digestive problems. I just got a handful of catnip and rosemary to calm my sick cat. Just placed it on the pillow next to him and he has calmed down. Will help me sleep as well.

Another similarity of catnip and lemon balm is the calming effect of both. All of these mint family herbs seem to work with digestion and GI spasms.

It sounds weird, but I love using a probiotic drink before bed, as well.

Great breakdown of why catnip is awesome. Fantastic for me when feeling incredibly anxious/panicky. Works within no time when taken in tincture form.

Good I actually just started growing catnip mainly because I heard that it was a good fever reducer for children... But you didn't mention this at all so I'm wondering if this was actually legitimate for children?

My catnip is low growing. Is that just because I prune it often??

I don’t mean to be rude, but could you just skip the round the world in thirty minutes, and get right to the point ?
