First character/male rapper: Thutmose. - sang 1st verse/last verse sang by DUCKWRTH
Second character(pink and blue hair): Becky G -sang 2nd verse
Third character(dreads): Keke Palmer - sang chorus
White hair girl rapper: Soyeon - sang 3rd verse
So an explanation: League of Legends is one of the biggest PC games out there right now and its a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena)
The Characters you see in the video are characters from the game called Ekko (guy with the x on his face), Akali (white hair), Senna (black girl), Yasuo (dj) and Qiyana (girl with gg ez on her tongue) voiced by the artists in the title. Ekko's story is that he can travel through time and the second part of him (where everything is black) is his image from the past that rewinds the time for a bit. That's why the video rewinds basically at the start of the chorus.
You can see them in their true damage skins (basically your champ looks different and has different animations) and the video is to promote the skinline and opening ceremony for the esports finals of the game taking place in Paris, France. If you are interested, Riot Games has done this multiple times now. For example last year they made a K POP group called KD/A and some time back a metal band called Pentakill. On top of that, they've made plenty of other creative content to promote new characters in their game, creating cinematics, music videos, and trailers.

Somebody already said it but I'm gonna give little context to it: Its from a video game company named Riot Games that made League of Legends but overtime when the game started getting popular they started producing music and making bands featuring the game's characters. They usually produce music for the characters that are getting new skins or if there is an upcoming new season or new tournament and championship.
League of Legends has one character as a solo artist and 3 bands
    Solo:
    Jinx - Get Jinxed
    Band:
K/DA (they are a girl group inspired by Kpop)
    - Ahri: Leader (voiced by (G)I-dle's Miyeon)
    - Evelynn: Vocal (voiced by Madison Beer)
    - Kai'Sa: Vocal, Dancer (voiced by Jaira Burns)
    - Akali: Rapper, Dancer, Youngest member (voiced by (G)I-dle's leader Soyeon)
True Damage (I'm gonna list them in order of who sang first)
    - Ekko (voiced by Thutmose 1st rap and DUCKWRTH 2nd rap)
    - Qiyana (voiced by Becky G)
    - Senna (voiced by Keke Palmer)
    - Akali (voiced by (G)I-dle's leader Soyeon)
    - Yasuo: he's the DJ so he did not sing but DUCKWRTH is the DJ in real life
Pentakill (they are inspired by metal rock)
    - I forgot the names of the members
Popular music videos which promote new season and tournament/championship:
(there to many of them so I'm just gonna list the most hyped ones)
    Legends Never Die
    Legends Never Die remix
    Worlds: Hero remix
    RISE remix
    Awaken

    Explantion :
True damage is a name given to a artifical band based on characters from the video game.
Ekko ( the black guy rapping ) : voiced by both Thutmose, and Duckwrth. Is a kid with time machine gadget that allows him to rewind time. hence reverbs on his verse and distortion effects.
Akali ( asian girl rapping ) : voiced by soyeon. Is a female ninja from a region based on Asian architecture.
Qiyana ( Black girl rapping ) : voiced by Becky G. She kinda simple, not gonna lie. She is mostly portrayed as this arrogant girl with alot of confidence in her abilities.
Senna ( Black girl singing ) : Voiced by Keke Palmer. She is there newest character.
Yasuo ( the guy t-posing, aka the dj ) : voiced by no one. Not sure why he didnt get any parts XD

Since no one has commented who the characters are
Thutmose = Ekko ( The first rapper )
SOYEON = Akali ( White long haired character )
Becky G = Qiyana ( The one sitting on that ring. Actually a weapon )
    Keke Palmer = Senna
DUCKWRTH is the one rapping the second time. I originally thought his character was Yasuo which is the DJ's character's name from the game
SOYEON to my knowledge is a Korean KPOP rap/pop artist. She is in the song/same character as well called K/DA Popstars. This song/video is basically about SOYEON coming across these other rappers/singers & forming another group with em' in the League of Legends scene. But as others have mentioned check out RISE, Phoenix( This years Worlds 2019 song ) & they have a few others. The word " Worlds " is basically this game version of the World Series, Super Bowl etc. It actually racks in my viewership than those other sporting events. Little side fact. The song RISE is moreso a Rock type song. Phoenix is another pop song but visuals are really dope along with RISE's visuals being dope as well. There's a song called Mortal Reminder from Pentakill that the Riot Games company made for League of Legends as well.

  • @inuasha1991
    @inuasha1991 Před 4 lety +16

It's a fictional group known as True Damage; Riot games, owner of League of Legends, found a lot of success and views from last years production- K/DA "Popstars." This song is in an establish lore, story continuity, that one of the singers from K/DA after finding success made her own Rap group with talents across the globe. That Character is "Akali" who is voiced by G (i)-dol [Korean group] Soyeon; she is the blonde, spiky hair girl, at the stairs part. She voiced the same character, Akali, in K/DA's Popstars but was rocking black hair, purple jacket, and a K/DA hat.
Another thing to note is that all these character's are playable ones in the game of League of Legends: These outfits, skins, are cosmetics that players can purchase to change up what their person looks like. On both of these tracks, K/DA's and True Damage's, Riot outsourced musical talent from various artists to portray and voice characters for their game for some next level marketing. It's a win-win situation, these artist get to collaborate together and sell the track on Itunes [etc] and Riot makes profit off the in game skins. Also a very famous clothes designer, sorry don't know her name, actually designed the outfits for these characters in True Damage to sell; then Riot's animators made them apart of their characters. So it's a win-win-win for all those involved.
So lets get into the characters. The first being Ekko, with the Static shock vibe who is singing the rap verses [male]. He is voiced by Thutmose and duckworth, Thut being the first verse and duckworth doing the beat drop. Ekko is a character who grew up on the streets of a very poor area [Zaun], but was a genius who constructed a device so he can rewind time. Hence why the lyrics show some of that to give tribute to the character's origin and give that authentic feel to it. Fun Fact, Thutmose actually voiced the new lines for the character Ekko in this skin and there is a video on youtube about it that's worth a look.
The next is Qiyana, multi hair color, who is voiced by Becky G. Hence the one verse QiQi, a play on words that has made a lot of reactors confused who actually did her rapping lol. Becky G actually throws in Spanish in this track so if you listen closely: You have English, spanish, and Korean in this song. Which goes to show the level of production and that "WORLDLY" feel they're going for. As for the character, Qiyana is from a family of royalty and she's very uh, what's the word, whatever the opposite of modest is lol. In other words, she knows she's bad and she's gonna let you know that.
The next is Senna who has the dreads [Female] who was the recently released champion for the game of League of Legends. Keke Palmer voices her and she does the hook of the song. Senna is a character, while new, that's been mentioned a lot in the League of Legends story. Her husband, Lucian who gives off that Blade [Wesley Snipes] vibe, has been a character for years and in the story she was held prisoner in another character's prison. She was recently released from it, joining the roster of playable characters, and in the game she can turn into a mist which is shown in the animation when she first appears.
The last of the five to mention is Yasuo who isn't voiced by anyone, Thutmose and duckworth both do Ekko's, but he is the DJ and producer of this track. He's the samurai guy in the back. In the lore imagine this he is a Samurai lol who was accused of a crime he didn't commit. Doesn't fit the vibe too much, but hey Riot Games took a popular champion that people play and wanted to score some additional money. You can't blame them there.
Anyway, this is the only track this "animated" group has made and no telling if they will release more. With any luck, because it is in the realm of possibility, maybe they'll do what "PENTAKILL" did from League of legends. Pentakill is another animated music video that is Metal, Popstars was K/pop, and Giants was Rap. After the success of their animated video they later went on to make two albums that you can find on Itunes. The lead singer of Pentakill, Karthus [The character] is voiced by the lead singer of a group known as MASTERPLAN and it might have other vocal talents of the genre. Here's to hoping that if they don't at least make more animations, seeing as it's really time consuming and expensive, they might release more music and albums. Same with K/DA.
Don't know if this was information overload, stuff other's touched on already, or if it was useful or not. I really love watching people's reactions to League's music and animations, it doesn't get nearly as much love as it should. Or, rather, I should say there aren't nearly enough people aware of this great content out there just waiting to be found.

The first verse is Ekko, and he's basically a Time Lord and can control time. His title is "The Boy Who Shattered Time". So when he raps stuff like "Movin' too fast, life is movin' in slow-mo" it's just a part of his M.O. Ya'll just went down a rabbit hole and you don't even know it :P
Although this video came out in 2019, and it's the first one I've seen of yours, so you've probably seen a good chunk of rito videos by now

People have already told you about the backstory for True Damage so onto two noticeable notes; the woman with the white spiky hair who's rapping at 5:43 is a character named Akali who first appeared in a previous music video called PopStars by KD/A. The other one is surrounding people who think because Akali made True Damage, she is no longer part of KD/A. That is false. True Damage was made as a side project for Akali as a way to bring out different artists, which is definitely doing it's job when you think about it.

Basically in the game, it's actually a fantasy universe but you can buy alternate appearances aka "skins". This is a promo for a new skin line where the characters are basically alternate universe versions of themselves in a more... modern setting. :D

    @yunalove6498 Před 4 lety

Detailed explanation on all the characters in this video related to their respective lore.
Ekko (Black/ The Main Rapper/ Thutmose (verse 1) and DUCKWRTH (verse 3))
A genius kid who was able to create a device with the power to control and rewind time. He uses this power to protect his friends, who are orphans, in the rotten and horrific streets of Zaun (A horrific city located underground under the bright and progressive city of Piltover where magic meets technology). In the game, he is played as an assassin that deals magic damage and has the gimmick of stopping, fast-forwarding, and rewinding time.
Qiyana (Latina/ The Rapper of verse 2 (pt 1) and singer of the pre-chorus/ Becky-G)
The last daughter to the rulers of an isolated/hidden city-state named "Ixaocan" (just recently revealed in the lore). Arrogant due to her family's lack of consideration for her. Also the most powerful elemental mage in the history of their city-state. The circular ring she was sitting on is actually her weapon. In the game, she is played like an assassin that deals physical damage and has the gimmick of controling the elements of wind, earth, and water to dispatch foes quickly.
Senna (Black/ Singer of the chorus/ Keke Palmer)
She and her husband (He was named "Lucian") were part of an order of light to dispatch the expansion and corruption of the undead (from the so-called "Shadow Isles"). Both she and her husband had pistols that shot light bullets and cleansed the undead. She was soon killed by a chain warden (His name is "Thresh") from the Shadow Isles and her soul was taken into Thresh's lantern. Lucian took Senna's gun and dual-wielded both of the guns. He was determined to kill Thresh and somehow free Senna's soul from the lantern. After years of imprisonment and after many of the battles between Lucian and Thresh, Lucian was finally able to crack the lantern that Thresh held. Senna was freed from her prison and now joined Lucian in the fight once more. She now possessed both the powers of light and darkness and can become a spectral wraith at will. In-game she plays the role of a ranged support character. She holds a massive cannon which, if you look closely, is the gigantic pillar Senna stands on in the music but is scaled down. Her attacks and spells both heal allies and damage foes.
Akali (Asian/ Rapper from verse 2/ Soyeon)
She was born into a clan of guardians for their country (Ionia). She was raised to fight and became a prodigy amongst her peers. However, when she grew up a part of the guardians betrayed them (Long story but there is a master of shadows named "Zed" who "betrayed" them and created his own shadow clan). Her master, Shen (who believes in true equilibrium with no love nor hate), did not take action, so she decided to leave and fight for herself without a master. It is said in the lore: "Beware the assassin with no master". In-game she is an assassin who deals magical damage. She is considered a ninja, so she is based on stealth and quick, in-and-out kills.
    Yasuo (DJ)
Born in the same country that Akali was born in, he was a prodigy among his peers in swordsmanship. He was one of the only masters of the wind which allowed him to manipulate wind with his blade (I.E. create tornados with one strike). However, when his home was invaded by the war-like country of Noxus, he was positioned to guard one of the elders. However, believing that his blade could change the fate of the battle, he left his elder to fight amongst the frontlines. Once the battle was over, Yasuo's elder was found dead. His kinsmen falsely believed he was the murderer, and Yasuo ran. Exiled, Yasuo faced many people during his exile, and soon he faced his brother. In self-defense, he easily defeated his brother in combat. Before his brother died, Yasuo pleaded forgiveness with him and asked why his kin thought he was the murderer. His brother responded with: "the elder was killed by a wind technique, no one else would be able to do it but you". After burying his brother in an unmarked grave and with this new information, he set out to find the true murderer of his elder to clear his name. Now he follows the wind, wherever it make take his blade next. In-game he is a hard-to-play, agile swordsman that deals physical damage with the idea of these three aspects: dashing, striking, parrying. In the right hands, he is absolutely terrifying.

Lore about the band True Damage: Akali of KD/A wanted to create another supergroup, so she searched the world for the best of the best (producers, vocalists, singers). She caught wind of Senna being held hostage by in a contract held by Thresh, but once Senna was free to do what she wanted, joined up. Ekko is a gifted rapper, truing to uplift his neighborhood instead of reveling in fame and wealth. Qiyanna is from pop music royalty, and sees True Damage as a way to build a music empire. As for Yasuo, he only works with the best. When Akali approached him with her hand-picked crew, they got to work, and the end result is GIANTS.

Riot, company behind the game League of Legends, makes a fuck ton of promo content for the game. The visuals you see are based on game characters and their abilities. They've created fictional metal band Pentakill (two full albums) and pop group K/DA (single Popstars), along with True Damage (with this, Giants). They also put out a lot of solo songs featuring game characters. Should check out their channel. A popular joke is they produce better music than they do games.
