I really really wanted the 2.0 Supra in Nitro Yellow. It’s the perfect yellow for a car, close to Ferrari’s yellow. But man, the cabin is tight and I’m only 5’10”. Not sure I could drive this every day in a 30 minute commute. I’m fairly claustrophobic. And the roof line cutting into the vision at your head makes it worse. I think the GR86 has way more room. But the Supra in yellow is just fantastic looking.

Toyota didn't give us the manual late because of customer complaints... they gave it to us late because BMW didn't let them sell a manual for the first few years on the market. It was a 'paperwork' thing, unfortunately. We were always going to get it in the end. In the rest of the world, manual transmissions are pretty much the standard, we most of us are used to living with a stick on a daily basis. Toyotas are generally easy to daily no matter what shape and spec they come in, it's pretty much what they do best.

@@FurkanCemTurfanda Thanks for the reply. Honestly, not clausterphobic at all. I find most drivers feel the need to keep the seats low, especially with a manual transmission, as if your butt is dragging on the pavement. With proper seat height adjustment/position, mirror adjustment, etc., no issues at all. So from first hand ownership, the clausterphobic and poor visibility arguments are false. Regarding rearward visibility, for a sports car, it isn't bad at all. So much so that I haven't even used the rear mirror camera yet in traffic. But comfort levels and driver confidence do vary. It is truly a remarkable car.

That said, as a guy who grew up on GM cars, I am saddened to see Chevrolet giving up on the Pony car again. As in the past, I don't feel they competed aggressively enough with Mustang and Challenger (surprisingly, the sales king in that segment). No hint of a sports car steering wheel. The automatic also has one of the strangest and un sporty shift levers. The infotainment is dim (I upgraded mine), the wind buffeting is still there ( also fixed mine) and the exterior vents….. well we all know about them. Couldn’t they make at least some of the 9 function by now? All the issues with interior room I’m fine with, there are expected sacrifices to be made with sports cars, but the other issues are so easy for Toyota to fix after 4 years, but they choose not to acknowledge them. Now *_THAT_* is a tightly enclosed chamber. Some would even say downright claustrophobic if you have such an ailment. Since I do not suffer from such phobias, I cannot attest to the feeling.
However, I have had numerous MRI's and experienced a plethora of cars throughout the entire era of the automobile. With that being said, I can safely say that there is no such thing as a "claustrophobic" interior. At least in a road legal car. Now a racecar on the other hand, more specifically an LMP1 class, is _definitely_ the tightest quarters I have ever experienced in a vehicle.

I really wanted to love the Supra but in anything but black, the fake vents are just too much. Where are the restrained Japanese designers from the 90's??? There was so much beauty with those sports cars that's lost in the overwrought nonsense of today's designs.

Bingo. The supra of the 90s looks downright elegant by comparison.

/You can always take a drill and fix these vents :)

The storage issue is incredibly annoying! They couldn't put 3 or 4 nets into this thing? I own one of these. Too much BMW, not enough Toyota!

I wish this was a BMW coupe license built by Toyota...instead of a BMW with a Toyota badge. Which means fun for the time being but crud reliability long term.

Not so the B58 is a solid motor and this simply isn’t true especially in the case of the MT Supra it’s been very well cared for by Toyota engineers designing the MT gearbox flawlessly IMO it’s one of the best Manual gearboxes I’ve ever driven and I’ve been behind the wheel of many adversaries.

I do too, but shooting there is logistically more difficult and frankly, didn't drive enough views to justify the extra work. Yes, we will still shoot some episodes there but not all cars. Appreciate you sharing.

Totally incorrect way to merge into freeway traffic....

I do not know why the Supra is not available with a manual gearbox and the smaller 2.0 engine, since BMW offers the Z4 in this configuration...

One end may be on the fact that they barely bring that many/make that many as is that there's no point in doing it really or, they don't wanna steal the sales off the manual 4 banger Z4(this more or less is a prediction but at the same time it's not like bmw even acknowledges that the Z4 exists in their line up).

The Supra smacks of the late 70s 280Z, which also sat towards the rear axle and squatted on acceleration. I doubt that this Supra is reliable.

Great bmw Z4 roaster review. I hope you do a supra review if Toyota ever decides to make one. Thank you sir.
