80's Whitney's voice was like the very tip of an arrow very pearcing, clear and refined to the greatest possible quality it could be. Raw melodious barbaric vocal ....
It's a shame Arista didn't record her live performances during this era because her vocals are beyond belief. A true master of her craft.
Okaaaaaay!!! That's what I keep thinking about everytime I hear anything from her in the 80s! This was Whitney AT HER BEST!!! Hands down!

This lady was the 8th wonder of the WORLD. There is simply NO VOCALIST in the world of popular music or otherwise that could / can even begin to match this level of innate brilliance, perfection, raw power & musicality. NO ONE. She's in a class COMPLETELY all her own.
Wanna know what a miracle SOUNDS like??? Just listen to HER. It's almost as though at every moment you can't even believe what you're hearing or that such a sound is even possible in this realm. Totally ETHEREAL & "other-worldly."
She always show out on "you give good love" everytime.

Was at this concert fantastic night. Me and my good friend sneeked out the back up a fire escape and got in back stage. Whitney was there with Jermaine Stewart. Could not believe my eyes. What a night ☺

@@mat_o8975 I'm almost certain it wasn't the first night. I'd bought tickets via the phone as it was that or find a ticket agency. No on-line booking then! We were very pleased to be eleven rows from the front with a great close up view. Then, in talking to a friend at work, it turned out that she had gone as well, but had seats three from the front!
I recall we were slightly disappointed that her set was just under an hour long, but in all fairness, the songs were from her first album and that was just over 45 minutes long.
She had me at "and if by chance"
How can such a little delicate beautiful woman sing with such a strong powerful long lasting tone in such a way is just mindblowing and breathtaking. God given talent. Thats all i can say. Thankyou Lord for giving her to us. She graced us with her love and beauty and her music was something that will last for generations to come. R.I.P. You made us so proud......
Simply put she is "THE VOICE".....no doubt about it. Just a rare type indeed!
Listen I still don’t know of anyone who RAISES THE KEY of their songs to sing them live. She is the epitome of greatness!

Awesome!!! Whitney Houston will always be "The Voice". She had one of a kind voice like no other. She was Arista's biggest star Clive Davis discovered.
Clive Davis did not discover Whitney.He offered her a contract but Whitney was known about before Clive saw her.

I agree... It was very different and beautiful compared to the other renditions of that great song. Only Whitney could sing such a song in many different ways and all of them sound great. It is 1 of my best renditions along with the renditions from Freedom Fest in 88 and Welcome Home Troops in 91. Just great...

This Greatest Love of All is a lot different from other versions. I really like it, as well as this You Give Good Love. I'm kinda surprised she didn't do Saving All My Love, considering this was a number one in the UK.

I would've been so curious to listen to hers "I'm Every Woman" if she had sung it in this era ! The belting note of the end would have been so much more incredible than the original one !

Well i like both so much but tokyo dome was dubbed so no difference because it was not live. This is better.

just watched a segment (doc/intv) on the iybt album... interesting to see where she was musically and personally with both those albums. she accomplished so much in a short time...maybe too much. I'm grateful to have been a witness to her life and career.

She did in 86 especial concerts to her fans with especial songs included. I wanna dance with somebody was released in 87, but recorded in fall 86. Also Didn't we almost have it all was also sang on especial dates like new york 1986.
