Fun fact: The Hawaiian Archipelago contains a total of 134 islands (some of them are atolls or sunken) but only 8 are the Hawaiian islands you know.

Correction, we don't want to be the home to the 30 meter telescope because it is supposed to be built on sacred land. we have a movement and peaceful protest to stop the construction. Ku Kia'i Mauna, we are Mauna Kea. But amazing video though!
I had the opportunity to be stationed on Oahu from 2000-2004 on Ft. Shafter. It was truly the best place I ever lived. On Christmas Day one year a bunch of us from the barracks decided to go to the beach up by Dillingham because it was about as far away as you could get from everything. We loaded my buddy's truck up with pallets for a bon fire and right before we left Shafter, one of the guys said "I wish we had a Christmas tree for the beach." I said I knew where there was a perfect sized pine tree, and they said "where?" I said "right across at Shafter flats there's a pine tree growing right in front of the Hawaii National Guard HQ building that'd be perfect!" So we jumped in the truck, pulled up to the HQ, my buddy got out, ran to the front of the building and sawed that thing down and we threw it in the truck. We went up to the beach, perfect 70-something degree weather and lit a fire 20 feet high. Planted that pine tree right in the sand and decorated it with beer cans and when it got dark we threw that tree on the fire too.
I heard that due to everything being imported, Hawaii is the most expensive state to live in, in the US.

I guess that depends. We pay less for gas than California. Where you shop makes a big difference as well. We are finally getting over the Covid-19 scare here in Honolulu and a trip to Target yesterday I saw pretty much all the shelves full. I guess you can only hoard so much toilet paper and paper towels.

Niihau has a population of any where from 50-100 people, all Native Hawaiian. They ranch sheep and formerly cattle for the Robinson family in exchange for supplies brought over on a private barge from Kauai. There's no hospital, no real grocery store, no fire or police station. There is a church and a small schoolhouse.

My grandfather died in Kawaii before I was born while snorkeling, as a result of having a heart attack.
Although this was of course, traumatic for my family, we all do find peace in the fact that he was surrounded by such beauty when he passed away.
I would like to take my mother, so she can make her peace with the ocean who took him, as she was present when he died.

"Pidgin" is a linguistic term, like "creole" not the name of a specific language :)
Well it is listed as an "official language" on the island since 2015.
Hawaii Creole English or HCE is the correct term for it but it is in fact a recognized language. Pidgin is just what people in Hawaii call it. Even though technically it is not a pidgin language since we are not the first generation to speak it.
