I totally agree its watered down. When i played there werent that many opportunities to play junior hockey so even the junior b level was competitive and sent players to ncaa d3. Now its a whole new ball game.
It has drastically changed
Twin city thunder always had a premier team
So can you share the best programs to go to in the USPHL?
I’m trying out for a few of these teams. My general findings is that favoritism and bribes are a huge problem. Why take the AAA player when the A player is offering you a large “donation” towards the program?
it does happen a lot.
USPHL Premier at the 16s level has lots of D1 commits like many AAA teams at that year. After that year it's not a place to get a college committment. You have to go to Tier 2. You are right, Junior hockey is spread too thin. This is the same now with the NAHL-spread across the whole country. The NCDC has D1 caliber players. The glaring problem is that league had a total of 5 D1 commits in 2024-Five! NAHL had hundreds of D1 commits. Sad. There are no eyeballs on the NCDC. Players have to market themselves. There are some super talented kids in the NCDC that could easily play D1. Expansion to 500 teams is not the solution to what ails the USPHL. Upgraded facilities, better connections with D1 coaches and better marketing is what is needed.
Junior Hockey needs to remove pay to play and go back to being merit based only.
what about the long beach shredders becoming the long beach bombers?
This was done after the video was made.
Some teams in the USPHL don’t care about Elite or Premier and jack up the prices to cover their NCDC teams. We have one org in particular on the list that we won’t play for due to this. Plus Black Bear is too involved now and it’s only a matter of of time until they try to spin up a new league.
There are many teams like that unfortunately.
Do they have a team in nj?
yes, the rockets
Would the usphl be something like the Gmhl?
usphl way better
@@JulianFerreira my bad I meant the usphl elite league specifically
usp elite is still better than the gmhl.
@@ahadvising8 how would you compare the Jr c league in Ontario to GMHL?
You mention tiers 2-4... what is tier 1 in the US?
United States Hockey League (USHL)
What would you change about the USPHL?
Issue is most of these teams are a huge money grab. When you have 30+ players paying $11K+ a year not going to mention the teams..... you get this water down league with these game blow outs.
Unfortunately you are right.
