  • Hi and welcome to the DIY Roselyn Wrap Midi Dress Tutorial. My name is Karolina and in this video, I’ll show you how to make this midi wrap dress using my sewing pattern called Roselyn.
    The pattern is available in sizes UK 6-16 / EU 34-44 / US 2-12/ AU 6-16 and you can buy it from my Etsy shop (link below). The pattern I'm using for this video is a UK size 8. If you have any more questions feel free to leave a comment down below :)

    short people problem.... measurement's hem almost reached my ankle lol. i look like a buddhist monk 😝😝😝 good thing it was practice fabric... I spent more time redoing my mistakes than actually sewing 😩 I love the pattern! Glad I saw your etsy shop! I'm an audio/visual learner and your video helped a LOT!

    This dress is absolutely beautiful, would love to know the content of the material you used, and if there is a chance you would be considering making this pattern size inclusive for bigger women. Again just beautiful.

    Just found your channel and I'm already loving it! I need this dress in my life! :) Unfortunately, I only have the 'basic' sewing machine and not overlock. Do you believe I can do this without overlocking the ends, only zic-zac sewing it? Do you believe I can use non strech cotton material for this, like poplin? Thanks!

      I think you can easily make this dress without an overlocker. You can perhaps use french seams on the sides and double-fold the rest of the seams with a topstitch. The fabric I used had a minimal to non-stretch so yes, you can absolutely use poplin for this project. :)

    I just bought the pattern and have it cut up and laid out however I don't have much fabric in the correct size. Do you think I stretch knit fabric would work?

      I haven't tried this dress in a knit fabric but even though I think you should use the right amount of fabric to be on the safe side. Not sure if it helps but if I don't have enough fabric I just make a shorter version🤗

      Yes, you can send A0 size to a print shop. They'll print it for you☺️

    Hi! Would it be possible to do a bias binded neck facing as well? I'm using a similar fabric and want to know if it's a good idea or if I should avoid that, thanks! :)

      Hi, sure you can, but be very careful not to stretch the neckline when you do it otherwise it might distort the neckline :)

    What kind of fabric would you recommend for beginners to make this dress? And how many meters of it for a size 12-14 UK? Beautiful patterns by the way.

      You could use cotton or polyester. The fabric I'm using is viscose twill. You'll need 2m of fabric to make this dress. Thank you 🤗

    How much fabric does the dress take in size 12? I have 2.5m of 140cm wide fabric that I want to make a knee length wrap dress out of. I love your pattern I hope I can make it work.

      You'll need 193cm of fabric that's 150cm wide. I think it should be okay since you have more fabric xx

    I bought the pattern and I'm so eager to make this dress! How much more seam allowance would I need if I hemmed instead of using an overlocker? (I don't have the machine...yet! 😬)

      I made it 🥳 and I'm very pleased with the process (following your wonderful video) and the final product. I "chose" - they hadn't any other fabrics I liked - a crepe viscose fabric with a strech. For a second dress I'll add pockets an maybe longer sleeves.

      One is sewing machine and the other is overlocker/ serger machine. If you don't have one your can make french seams for the sides and double roll the hems. Hope that helps x

      Linen might have too much structure for this shape ( but one of my customers made this dress in leather, so everything is possible) and if you still want to give it a try perhaps choose lightweight linen. ☺️

      I don't think Women should be limited by some random rule on how I want MY dress to be wrapped. Wrap it left to right or right to left ladies! Whichever side suits YOU best 💪💪
