This is Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Elton was a very close friend of Freddie. I love Elton John, too. The spinner is Axl Rose from Guns N Roses. This whole concert had great singers and performers doing Queen songs in tribute to Freddie. Nobody else had the range to do all the songs, so they each had to pick one that they could sing but they all were great. The energy and love at this concert was such a perfect send off to Freddie. Adam Lambert has the range and he doesn't try to be Freddie or even to sound like Freddie but he really does a fantastic job on all of the Queen songs.

The only singer (at this tribute concert) that sang an entire song in original key was George Michael with “Somebody to Love “ …. He smashes it out of the park and we’ll worth a listen !!! It’s the only version I listen to other than Freddie 👑❤️👑❤️👑

@@JaneRtn Actually, George also sang a few notes lower rather than in the higher range, not changing key, but sometimes Freddie would do the same if he was having issues or if it was later on in a tour.

Axl rose is the guy with the energy. He is the lead singer of Guns N Roses!!!! he was just acting like himself on that stage, hes an amazing frontman and always runs all over the stage. You should react to guns n roses song " Welcome to the Jungle live" in Tokyo!!!!

This just shows that no one could touch Freddie's vocal range. Spinning guy is Axl Rose from Guns and Rose's. He brought the energy for sure! This was Freddie's tribute concert. Elton and Freddie were very good friends. You are right do not try to imitate just be yourself.

this concert shows to this day that it takes umpteen singers to not even come close to "replacing" him vocally. Musically, in terms of composing and writing, it needs more

Love this tribute concert! The concert was produced for television and broadcast live on television & radio to 76 countries around the world, with an audience of up to one billion!! The profits from the concert were used to launch the Mercury Phoenix Trust, an AIDS charity organization. Queen with their manager, Jim Beach organized the concert to celebrate the life & legacy of Mercury, & to raise money for AIDS research & awareness! 🅰️ ✌️✌️

Elton John, at this same tribute concert for Freddie, performed The Show Must Go On with Queen. It was so good that it was released as a single and went to #1 on the Billboard Singles Chart. You really should check it out. Also, Elton John has hit the charts every decade since the early 1970's and has had at least 65 top 40 hits. His last hit was earlier this year with Stevie Wonder called Finish Line from the album called The Lockdown Sessions. Elton is the GOAT and was knighted by the Queen of England in the 1990's making him Sir Elton John! You will be well advised to check out more by Elton John. Try his hit from the 70's called Honky Cat.

Metallica took part in the show earlier in the day. They played their set early because they had a concert date on same day. But, they didn't want to miss the tribute.
What a great show. Says a lot when a band with the power of Metallica wants to be part of the tribute even though they kept other commitments.
Great assortment of talent in one stadium.

Cash, This is the 'Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert' --proceeds to AIDS Research via Brian's and Roger's Mercury Pheonix Trust. Sir Elton John and Axl Rose, who in the past had said some very homophobic statements, came together to perform 'Bohemian Rhapsody'--quite the unlikely pair! Their performance is incredible given their different music styles. I'm a true fan of both these musicians and to see/hear them in tribute to Freddie--overwhelming! Thank you for your honest and entertaining reaction :-)

The funny thing about this concert is that there were a few artists who did not realize they would be singing with the powerful Queen Army. Keep in mind these artists are super popular artists that are used to doing their own thing. Most artists were used to their audiences simply sitting and listening to them. They tried to sing the song in their own style but if you are an artist singing a Queen song in front of a Queen audience at a Freddie tribute concert, the audience will not allow you much room to change things up because the audience will be singing the songs at the top of their lungs the way they were performed by Queen and they are very loud and very unified. You can do your own thing and sound good only if you know what the audience will be doing. Otherwise it just sounds off. The audience knows every word and every breath Freddie took, every guitar solo, etc. and they are going to sing it. It really tripped up a few of the artists, Elton included, but he picked up on it fairly quickly and was able to go with the flow. Other artists had more difficulty. If you go back and watch the beginning of the song, you can see that Elton was a bit flustered by the audience. You can actually see the point when Elton realizes what is happening and that he is going to have to adjust to the audience. He smiles and almost looks like he's saying to himself "Holy shit they are even breathing where Freddie did!". Even when Freddie would sing BoRhap, there were points where he learned to let the audience sing (ie. near the end "nothing really matters to me") and he would come in later so it sounded good, the audience could do their thing, and he was still able to take the lead. Loved the reaction, thanks!
