- Time's newest and lightest bike was designed - and will be entirely built - in its native France. Our ultralight tester Matthew Allen has ridden the top spec 01 model, and here are his early thoughts.

I have yet to find a better frame than a Time! Flawless production, great aesthetic, and superlative ride quality.
Very nice report !
Great information thanks for sharing guys =)
Hy guys...I want to buy an enduro bike, which doesn't cost so much. I found the yt capra and the radon swoop 170 , but I don't know which one would be better. Or do you know other bikes, which could be a good option ?
Vectran in the frame may be as responsible for reduced road buzz as the damper in the fork -- that is one of its most important characteristics -- but it is a very expensive material!
Thanks Matthew great review :)
Thanks for watching!
Time is the best made bike frame period
While they don't have flashy marketing, like other bike companies, they actually have a QC department. The customer doesn't have to be the QC. For the price, you can't beat them.
Great video as always. Which bike would you choose, time Alpe d'huez 21 or giant tcr?
Of course Time look at hambini video
Is this 31.8 stem ?
£12.000 that would make a superb winter bike ;-)
Our thoughts exactly, but unfortunately it doesn't have any mudguard bosses. /s
Even better indoor bike. So lightweight to get on/off the trainer
I think if anything it will help with lower frequency vibrations. Higher the frequency more likely it will get overwhelmed
Did you say “donkey years”? 😂 Nice job on the video, Matthew.
+Matthew Allen Or 'mule fortnights'
I hope that Time will be my next carbon bike
I don't know what it is, but that bike has a strange beauty about it.
God damn. At least they make a cheaper one. Man. Kinda want a Time now... but something for endurance instead haha
.....but does it feature a bell.......?
"The slightly less unaffordable version..."
straight up aerospace.
This is the frame I'm goint to buy. After Giant TCR ride test with no personality whatsoever, I clearly I decided to have something different, classy and pure breed and Time Alpe d'Huez sounds like it. In Switzerland you can buy much cheaper TIME frameset. About £1400 for Alpe d'Huez 21 and £2350 for Alpe d'Huez 01 plus delivery. How it compare with for much inferior triple more expensive bike brands made in China? Only LOOK can give you similar quality in finish and ride.
How can the frames be so cheap? Is there a way to buy them in switzerland if iam not there?
This looks like a Look 785 Huez?
A little more subtle thank the 785
Sad thing that these channels don't review bikes most of us can actually afford :/
As with all superbikes, the trickled down models are affordable. With that in mind it's much cooler to see the top end ones in action.. Although there is a 10k€ difference between the lower & higher versions of this one that is crazy.
if I want a new bike my verdict wil not realy be affected by reviews, but more by trying products myself. this is just enjoing superbikes anyway ;)
We do review affordable bikes, but we also know that the first place to see new innovation is at the very top of the market.
Reviewing average bikes is boring. "This middle of the road bike is equipped with average gear. The performance is surprisingly average. Goes for a good price though!"
BikeRadar Yes but the only innovation I could see here is the frame material, which will never trickle down because of its cost. You are never going to see Vectran in an affordable bike. As you noted yourself, the other aspects are strikingly old fashioned. At that price point tbe brake design is a scandal.
840 grams is not ultralight. And 930 grams isn't very light either, my Synapse is 935 grams.
That same Trek Emonda that got split into 2 yesterday? I'll pass, thanks.
Especially if you consider the fact, that a size S frame without Paint is quite a bit heavier than other climbing bikes i don’t want to know what the paint will add too that. But if it works...
You could say that current know-how center for carbon frames is actually Taiwan
Sure it is, sure... Especially when you compare manufacturing tolerances of the French brands with in-house frame building facilities and the Taiwanese "centre of know-how" wonders that if you are unlucky will make your bb creak within a couple weeks, if you are really unlucky it will make your bottom bracket fall out of the frame hahaha:www.hambini.com/blog/post/bottom-bracket-pressfit-and-creaking-an-engineering-opinion/
Small frame weight of 840g? My Canyon Ultimate Disc frame weighs 820g in size M and is a quarter of the price.
True, but then again, brands like Canyon is what fuels the Chinese economy. As a result, that money is used to further corrupt 3rd world countries and when they default on the loan, they get a Chinese Military base in their back yard & with it, hand in hand, the migration of Chinese in your country, which was not even part of the deal.
Well done for contributing to the Chinese, please keep buying Chinese made products, this gives them the ability to rise (South China Sea, Bolivia, Cambodia).
Yeah, you should really think twice what you purchase, like it or not it has consequences.
Canyon, come on, buy an AX Lightness if you really want German & slap some THM on it.
would rather buy a lightspeed chinesse carbon frame rather than any cervelo, bmc, canyon
honestly is there any difference between all those exotic race bikes??
$17,000 usd
cyclingfaction woowowowoowowwoowow
I know this cause a friend of mine has one. and I know this is not so stiff
If I would have that piece of art I wouldn't dare to ride it 🤣
Why would you buy this over... Any other lighter bike?
#Ultra-Light
5:30 Did you just say "Hard on"?!!
The fork doesn't blend into the frame. It's built for an integrated down tube, but this bike doesn't have one. Looks janky.
Lets cross our fingers, and hope the chinese copies that production method in the future for sturdier carbon frames without that price xD
Great bike for 2008.
the review should be about the bike, not the reviewer
Define "ultra"
I'm a regular cyclist but unfortunately I can't relate to this at all
John Bicycle When you come up with a bike if that makes a specialized S works look cheap and really doesn’t have anything on it it’s hard to make sense of it
Any colour you want as long as that's dull, boring grey.
You blokes have to stop reviewing these poverty bikes.
Damn boring paintwork.
Capable, talks about road bike😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
12.000 pound for a bike lol you can buy a brand new car for that price or even a 1000cc 200 mph superbike are we being ripped off in the cycle world?? I will be waiting for china to fake this bike frame and pay 300 pound for it.
Yes, you can buy a brand new 1200cc 2018 Ducati Monster for £12,000. Does make you wonder about the cost of high-end road bikes like this one... how can the production costs be so high? Feels bad.
It is all a big rip off there will always be people that will buy this 12.000 pound cycle because they have the money to pay for it and are loaded this bike is targeted for those people look at the materials used to make a Ducati monster superbike and the materials used to make this cycle and tell me which should be priced at 12k?. no cycle should cost this much.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Ducati sold nearly 60000 motor cycles in 2021. How many models does
Ducati produce from one factory? How much money does Ducati make from parts sales and after sales support?
No figure out if Time does anywhere near those numbers. Not to mention that each frame is entirely handmade in Europe. How many parts from Ducati are made in Asia?
Also ask yourself how much your retailer is marking up the price of the Time bike.
It’s amazing how little people know about basic economics and product pricing.
Say that to my friend who bought a very expensive bike only to be beaten by me with a Chinese copy 😆
Time doesn't make their bikes inhouse anymore they outsource them in Slovakia, same thing for Look, yes both brands get their bikes made in a factory that only makes their bikes but it's still outsourcing and using people that get paid so little !!
@@duncana51 Wrong, I knew all that, but it's still outsourcing when you make it outside of your country by other people in another country, yes it's good that they own and control evetything but still outsourcing it.
Did he say 12 000 pounds for pedals ? Lol how is this possible that's the price of a complet high high end bike !!
"Lightweight bike". Doesn't tell us the weight of the bike itself..............
compfreak pretty sure he said a claimed weight of 6.2kg in the video.....
"comment on the video" Doesn't watch the video...
size small 6.2 kg
Time and Look both have the dumbest brand names. Why not Shoe or Poop. Just silly silly names for maybe the best made carbon frames ever made
