  • Time's newest and lightest bike was designed - and will be entirely built - in its native France. Our ultralight tester Matthew Allen has ridden the top spec 01 model, and here are his early thoughts.

    Hy guys...I want to buy an enduro bike, which doesn't cost so much. I found the yt capra and the radon swoop 170 , but I don't know which one would be better. Or do you know other bikes, which could be a good option ?

    Vectran in the frame may be as responsible for reduced road buzz as the damper in the fork -- that is one of its most important characteristics -- but it is a very expensive material!

    While they don't have flashy marketing, like other bike companies, they actually have a QC department. The customer doesn't have to be the QC. For the price, you can't beat them.

    This is the frame I'm goint to buy. After Giant TCR ride test with no personality whatsoever, I clearly I decided to have something different, classy and pure breed and Time Alpe d'Huez sounds like it. In Switzerland you can buy much cheaper TIME frameset. About £1400 for Alpe d'Huez 21 and £2350 for Alpe d'Huez 01 plus delivery. How it compare with for much inferior triple more expensive bike brands made in China? Only LOOK can give you similar quality in finish and ride.

    • @gabouel
      @gabouel Před 6 lety +3

      As with all superbikes, the trickled down models are affordable. With that in mind it's much cooler to see the top end ones in action.. Although there is a 10k€ difference between the lower & higher versions of this one that is crazy.

    • @JWH.Design
      @JWH.Design Před 6 lety

      if I want a new bike my verdict wil not realy be affected by reviews, but more by trying products myself. this is just enjoing superbikes anyway ;)

    • @bikeradar
      @bikeradar  Před 6 lety +16

      We do review affordable bikes, but we also know that the first place to see new innovation is at the very top of the market.

    • @tywin1
      @tywin1 Před 6 lety +7

      Reviewing average bikes is boring. "This middle of the road bike is equipped with average gear. The performance is surprisingly average. Goes for a good price though!"

    • @stuartdryer1352
      @stuartdryer1352 Před 6 lety

      BikeRadar Yes but the only innovation I could see here is the frame material, which will never trickle down because of its cost. You are never going to see Vectran in an affordable bike. As you noted yourself, the other aspects are strikingly old fashioned. At that price point tbe brake design is a scandal.

      Especially if you consider the fact, that a size S frame without Paint is quite a bit heavier than other climbing bikes i don’t want to know what the paint will add too that. But if it works...
      You could say that current know-how center for carbon frames is actually Taiwan

    • @82vitt
      @82vitt Před 5 lety +4

      Sure it is, sure... Especially when you compare manufacturing tolerances of the French brands with in-house frame building facilities and the Taiwanese "centre of know-how" wonders that if you are unlucky will make your bb creak within a couple weeks, if you are really unlucky it will make your bottom bracket fall out of the frame hahaha:www.hambini.com/blog/post/bottom-bracket-pressfit-and-creaking-an-engineering-opinion/

    • @armandoenriquez7305
      @armandoenriquez7305 Před 5 lety +9

      True, but then again, brands like Canyon is what fuels the Chinese economy. As a result, that money is used to further corrupt 3rd world countries and when they default on the loan, they get a Chinese Military base in their back yard & with it, hand in hand, the migration of Chinese in your country, which was not even part of the deal.
      Well done for contributing to the Chinese, please keep buying Chinese made products, this gives them the ability to rise (South China Sea, Bolivia, Cambodia).
      Yeah, you should really think twice what you purchase, like it or not it has consequences.
      Canyon, come on, buy an AX Lightness if you really want German & slap some THM on it.

      @gregg1571 Před 6 lety +2

      Yes, you can buy a brand new 1200cc 2018 Ducati Monster for £12,000. Does make you wonder about the cost of high-end road bikes like this one... how can the production costs be so high? Feels bad.

    • @mohammedkhan4088
      @mohammedkhan4088 Před 6 lety +2

      It is all a big rip off there will always be people that will buy this 12.000 pound cycle because they have the money to pay for it and are loaded this bike is targeted for those people look at the materials used to make a Ducati monster superbike and the materials used to make this cycle and tell me which should be priced at 12k?. no cycle should cost this much.

    • @jasrod2012
      @jasrod2012 Před rokem +1

      You have no idea what you are talking about. Ducati sold nearly 60000 motor cycles in 2021. How many models does
      Ducati produce from one factory? How much money does Ducati make from parts sales and after sales support?
      No figure out if Time does anywhere near those numbers. Not to mention that each frame is entirely handmade in Europe. How many parts from Ducati are made in Asia?
      Also ask yourself how much your retailer is marking up the price of the Time bike.
      It’s amazing how little people know about basic economics and product pricing.
