- When Russia invaded Ukraine in Feb.2022, musician Jurij Fedynskyj spent three months performing in Ukraine’s bomb shelters, military camps, and even near the front line. He sings songs about Ukrainian history and national identity, as well as religious hymns - modeling himself after the "kobzars," historical minstrels once purged by Stalin. “Music is spirit," Mr. Fedynskyj says. "We defend our country through spirit.”
