He couldn't even pronounce "Ecosystem" correctly. Not the person I'd want in charge of divvying out information...
This type of content is what we need! Please do other things that aren't explained in the movies, such as space navigators, house Corrino, sardaukar, etc...
If you enjoy this kind of backstory, I can't recommend enough that you read the books. You'll love them.
Spacing Guild/Navigators: Humans who use spice induced hallucinations to plot paths between solar systems
House Corrino: Royal family that rules the Galaxy. Powerful due to their army of Sardaukar and control of spice.
Sardaukar: Mandalorian-like fanatics who only serve the emperor. Their home planet was a prison planet that shaped children into warriors. There are lots of parallels between Salusa Secundus and Arrakis, and their ability to shape populations into warriors.
They just did House Corrino a few days ago!
Have I got news for you! There's an 800 page book which does just that, in greater detail than videos like ever could. It's a book called Dune, but you've probably never heard of it...

If there's any planet I've wanted to live on in the Dune universe, it would be Caladan as it stands during Letos' reign.
The great thing about the Dune universe is if you are suddenly dropped into it, you won’t be that overwhelmed because their technology is limited and they revere the culture of old Earth so you may feel at home but without smartphones and social medias, just filmbooks and radios from now on

@@reganharvanI recently reread messiah. I’m honestly wondering if Villeneuve will just end up scrapping large swaths of book cannon in favor of a more cinematic story. I just don’t see how else it’s made engaging for the screen. It’s insanely complex.

I love these film books - for us 80’s / 90’s kids these are the equivalent of FunFax binders (funnily FunFax got me into StarWars - knew all the ships and planets in detail in 93 even though I only watched films in 2004 before ROTS released lol)

The attredies takeover of arrakis didn’t spark the conflict between them and the harkonnens. That had already been going on for generations.

So in this movie i notice Atreides based like greek and Corrino bases on Nordik? but what about Harkonnen
They have all become their own peoples by now, but according to Herbert, Atreides is Greek, Harkonnen is Swedish, and Corrino are Italian, specifically from Venezia. But again, it has been so long, and the Harkonnen especially, have been under such un-Earthly environmental conditions, they are only themselves.

Wait...Atreides are descended from the ancient Greeks?
Is this expanded upon in the books, actually, is the "pre-history" in general; how to they went to the stars, what happened to Earth etc, expanded upon?
I've only read the 1st book, but its been decades since it did so.
They claim to be descendants from the line of Atreus, but that's so far back in the past nobody knows for sure. Great Houses in Dune like to claim mythical origins, just like noble houses did in reality.
The original series does not expand greatly on the distant past of planet Earth, before the Imperium. For that you would have to read the prequels by Frank Herbert's son, which to be honest are not very faithful to the originals and pale in comparison when it comes to their quality.
IIRC, in one of the original Dune/Frank Herbert novels, Agamemnon is listed as one of the ancestors available to the Atreides twins and Alia in their collective memories.

Caladan was no longer an Atreides dominium. The Emperor granted the planet to Count Fenring. Later on, when Paul became Emperor, he gave Caladan to his mother, Lady Jessica

This in world lore makes no sense. 'Sparked conflict between the houses which persists till this day' after Arrakis, depending on where we are in the timeline either Atreides appear to have been wiped out or have emerged as victor
