You can get Virginia to come back by editing the game files.
Locate the Sons of the Forest save file. Your saved file default location is "User\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves
IMPORTANT! Make a quick back up of your save game file.
Locate SaveData.json and open it again using Notepad. Press Ctrl + F to open the find box and copy the line: TypeId\":9
You'll find Kelvins location marked by XYZ that should look a little something like this Position\":{\"x\":883.3377,\"y\":241.529648,\"z\":690.41394},\"Rotation\":{\"x\":0.0,\"y\":-0.9851878,\"z\":0.0,\"w\":0.171478808}
Take the text between the brackets { } and paste this into the location for Virginia found by TypeId\":10
Now save and exit, load the save game and you'll see Virginia standing by Kelvin & if she is your companion she should now be following you.

i can relate. i went on weapon hunt and came back after a long time to see my 5 storey 20 by 20 wide base and all the storage n zipline n defenses useless as virginia was missing. i was about to start a new game or leave the game for good when i came across this gentlemans video and it worked.
If you saw at the beginning of the video, she played an animation where she was motioning for you to follow her. She ran to a nearby point of interest to show it to you. It seems like if you don't follow her she will kind of just stay there until you show up, and I've had it happen on my playthrough. A lot of the people posting about her "going missing" actually just missed the "follow me" animation and didn't know she ran somewhere.
@@Subscribe Yeah I live on the lake with the island in the middle and every few days she runs to point out the boat on the waterfall or the helicopter across the water and often times when she does this she removes her own GPS Locator and sometimes doesn't walk back on her own. It's annoying, I'm hoping they will fix a lot of her issues soon
And I didn't put the tracker on her.....

hi my codes for viriginia is not like u its kinda disapeard in save data i know how to search it but thats not there in my last saves but i have the codes in my first saves how can i fix it?

i have a bug i think where i was on day 17 and virgina nevver came to me and i havent seen her so i restarted and then now im day 7 and she still hasent show herself what do i do?

when i try to do that with notepad its just kicking me outs of file
dude! thanks for the video, but I just noticed that if i put any other clothing on her, such as the dress or the track suit, she will just walk away to where she was just hanging out accross the map from me. but as soon and i put the swim suit back on her she started following me. weird bug. maybe thats the same for you?
I just finished playing and Virginia was gone. Kelvin was there at my base but his ID is "{\"TypeId\":9,\"PlayerKilled\":0}"... Hes not dead but he is in files? I guess I just think I may have missed something
Ok so i got her but the problem is she isnt friends with me anymore is there any way to befriend her without going through that process of regularly doing its to much a pain to get her and i dont wanna do it again
Straight forward enough but it didn't work for me 😞 The problem may be she is waiting at a location but i don't know what location. Going by some comments i was supposed to follow her somewhere, but where?

cant find typeid 10 with family id, only with playerkill lines =[
What type Id is your character? Could you find your id and location and have her spawn next to you in case Special K is not near you?
I need to know that too, because Kelvin and Viga are stuck together in some cave.. 😀 So i hope that somebody will find this out, or I'm.... you know what.. 😀

so i made a huge mistake, shes gone i had to use cheat engine to spawn another one in. ive been spawning her back every couple minutes to try speed up the process but its slow going... any idea which "state" Viriginia needs to be in to be tame? thanks

Had her as a follower for a good 5 days. I had to re apply the GPS tracker a few times because it just kept ending up back in my inventory. Now I can't find her anywhere. I'd rather not mess with the save codes or whatever hopefully it will get fixed in the next update.
I got a other problem, I punched her on day 5 I think, I'm day 150 and she still come near me and my base but she always keep running away every day (no weapon equiped near her, not following her, she don't want to be friendly) she look bug

I accidentally teleported Kelvin to the coldest, steepest mountain. Virginia wasn't there.

Couldn't win her as friend, disappeared before I could interact like that. So there is no position under "TypeID 10"
Same here. No position like at Kelvin. Just "PlayerKilled ..."
Weird. Nothing happens at all. I see her on map and can go to her, but editing of file do not change anything. We have somewhat different situation - we changed the host of server by sharing of save file. But Virginia became follower, if I remember right, with the new host. We managed to get her back once, when we were returning from cave. But soon she came back to the same area. She had tracker and both guns with dress.
Where you said it might disappear in the notepad, if you change from Down to Up it will show the correct location.
Was having an hissyfit trying to figure out why TF it's not showing up, so i started trying random sh*t and change from Down to Up took me to the Correct location, cause if you click "find text" twice, it will tell you that there is no such text, eventhough it was clearly marked in the notepad.

Was going to give up, but seems I did it on the wrong save.
Saved my current game twice just in case I F-ed it up. Like I often do! Nooot got at this sort of stuff.
She followed me over the entire map, Gold armor stuff. Then stopped someplace faaar away!
I did run to her once, walked slowly to get her with me, but I died and got tied up by cannibals.
And she ran back over to the same spot for some reason???? :s
Anyway! Cheers for the help, if she goes back. Ima just wait until Dev's fix her.

HERES THE ANSWER, get kelv somewhere close to u, do as directed but only copy kelv position, exit notepad, find virginia position, delete, paste kelv. exit notepad in between copying kelvs location and finding hers

though tragically, i think my use of the /aighostplayer command while building is what's doing it; she leaves almost immediately (Affection 100) xD
/invisible doesn't seem to do anything, nor does /aipause

I was able to fix it without doing any of this , I found her took all of her items away changed her clothing and gave her back All her items which for me was pistol shotgun and gps , I had to do it a few times But eventually she gave me a thumbs up an I slowly backed away while facing her an she started to follow … we ran into a fuck ton of cannibals I died reloaded the game did the same thing it worked except the thumbs up wasn’t confirmation as I still had to keep taking away an giving her items back she just followed eventually, hope it works for you guys aswell also side note she will stop an shoot everyone even if you pass a camp she will elect to stay an kill them , just kill everyone and keep moving I suggest once you get her following make a camp save the game so you don’t have to keep finding an then retraining her lol
This is such a bullshit in that game. Virginia is gone and i have NO CLUE why. The developers shoiuld a a BIG, FAT Inormation on the screen if a NPC like Kelvin or Viriginis dies. Now I trx to recover her editing 4 hours in save files :((((( Once the game won't start after editing a save file. This is SO bad!
Anyone elses save not loading? If so how do you fix it
@@Subscribe No luck. What i did was edit the save data json file and put the gps tracker in virginia's equiped items she is TypeId10
i have the same after editing the location of verginia my save is not loading.
What happens when your friend killed Virginia and the playerid 10 says “player killed:1”
In single player, she's dead. Dead dead.
In multiplayer, she is supposed to come back after a reload or something. But she doesn't come back atm because of some kind of bug.
@@WolfFireheart I even went as far as to go into the codes to rewrite Virginia in(took way too long) and I have yet to see her respawn. I’ve used the 3rd party app that “does it for you” in both files where she is alive and dead, neither worked.
I hope someone figures it out and we all get this resolved

In single player, if he is killed by cannibals.
He respawns after exiting the game and going back in.
But if you kill him, he is dead forever.
So if you killed her, she isn't meant to respawn, ever.
But multiplayer is different because of trolls etc.
So, sorry :s If you killed her in single player, she is never coming back, she's not meant to.
I have loaded a old save twice because I missed a spear and killed Kelvin. Once with a arrow. Only way to bring him back, in single player.

Well I'm clearly dumb because as soon as I did this, I lost Kelvin too :( not sure what I did wrong. They both have coordinates! Maybe I just moved him on accident.
@@Subscribe I think it was because instead of the usual code after the Type ID, it said "player killed" so it wasn't just plugging in coordinates for mine! I ended up downloading a software that was suggested in the comments that helped me fix it. I think if she was just somewhere else on the map and alive, matching her and Kelvin's coordinates would have worked! This was kind of another issue altogether.
This is pretty confusing haha
