This is the very reason I stick with nature's way when managing my hair. I already have sebhorric dermatitis which is a literal nightmare-but that's another story. I don't like going to the salon because they only want to use things like edge controls gels and products with parfum( who knows what's in that) etc. Don't get me wrong, hairstylists do Beautiful work but the products don't agree with me. Bottom line my hair doesn't fit the European standard of beauty but I only use 3 products: shampoo,unrefined coconut oil, Apple cider vinegar. The ACV is a godsend when it comes to itching. I swear by this stuff.

When you think about it, we didn't really have a choice. Some of our mamas just didn't feel like dealing with our hair, so that was the solution... smh.

For the first time in my town this year the dollar store has now introduced skin bleaching creams, which disheartened me and disgusted me :/ am I the only one that feels offended?
Nope. I know it. I went to a Beauty supply store out of state and they have a skin bleaching cream section.

@TheRoot I use very little over the counter products. I mix my own hair conditioner and styling products for my natural hair. I have tried some of the black owned products for natural hair and I still have to add more ingredients for my hair. I've known for a while about some of the harmful ingredients in black hair care products. I was shocked and horrified to learn that the chemical used to unclog drains is in most hair relaxers. The fact that government entities and government funded entities know about this and do nothing about it is unacceptable. Thank you for an informative video on the hair care industry. Everyone if you see any trolls ignore them.
