    The mere fact Blink requires a subscription to enable person detection, immediately disqualifies them.

    • @LM77va
      @LM77va Před 9 měsíci

      I don't get the point of person detection. The camera learns to recognize who is in front of the camera. So what? I can do that myself, I don't need Amazon or Blink to tell me who the person is. If I can't tell who it is, there is no way the camera is going to know.

    • @BlenderRookie
      @BlenderRookie Před 9 měsíci +3

      @@LM77va Person detection that I am familiar with, does not identify the person. It just identifies the motion as a person. That way when reviewing motion detection, you can filter it by general motion, animals, cars or people. It's just a tool used to quickly find whatever it is you are looking for. But I use Reolink and not Blink and Reolink may work differently.
      In my case my cameras categorize motion detection events in 4 ways. General motion such as the wind blowing leaves, cars, people and animals. If I know someone stole something out of my yard, I filter for person detection and then I can quickly skim through the parts of the video where it detected a person. Save a lot of time. Also, reolink requires no subscription.

    I just got the Blink 4, I paid $119 for 3 cameras which I think is not too bad. This is my first security camera I have ever bought and I got it because I liked the small size, battery powered (or USB port electricity) and some other features. However I do wish it had the time stamp. We'll see how it goes and if I like it or need to upgrade.

    Nice comparison. I bought blink this year. Prime day deal of the day: 6 blink 3 cameras for $189. $31 each. I wouldn't have bought them at even $50 each. I added a doorbell and second sync module for $32. They are ok for me. Wait for the deals, and don't expect greatness.

      Pray to god they don't break or stop recording to the sync module. I have blink with nearly 2 years I'm getting rid of all 5 cameras and sync module 2 as soon as I can afford to do so. My cameras haven't been saving clips to my sync module with five months and I've been emailing with blink support with five weeks.
      They've been going around in circles and I'm getting nowhere with them. They've been asking me to repeat different things over and over.
      I've literally made a list of actions they've made me do and every few emails I send them the list with two weeks but they still ask me to repeat a step.
      They are useless.

    I place a high value on the reliability of these cameras. The camera with the best video is worthless to me if it triggers on for no reason or if it does not trigger on when something is in the field of view. You have to live with whatever camera you have for a while to determine this. I bought 6 Blink 4's a month ago and I'm impressed with their reliability.

    I used to think Eufy is the best security camera, especially watching a lot of your videos, but not anymore after I bought an eufy 3c outdoor camera myself. Eufy's videos quality is good comparing to blink, but its reliability and motion detection is a big concern. It record way less motions in highest sensitivity setting comparing to my blink xt2 and 3. On some days, eufy records ZERO video while the blink records 20+ videos, both of them are pointing at the same backyard. I've bought many different brand security cameras, including Wyze/Ring/Nest/Blink/Yi/Amazon cloud cam, this is the first time I have trust issues with a security camera.

    I don't know why they say the sync module does local recording. It doesn't record a thing. What does happen, is that at the end of every day, if you are lucky, Blink's servers will upload some of the footage onto the USB drive, but that's it. So for example, if an event just happened outside of your house, and you need to quickly go check the footage, too bad. You can't, unless you wait a full day and hope that the footage is even uploaded onto the USB at that point in time.
    These type's of devices used to be designed in good faith, now they are designed to be broken all so that they can force you onto their cloud service.

    Great video. I have Blink cameras and had them for a number of years. I have often thought about upgrading to Eufy. However, I have my outside and inside Blink cameras on separate modules and can arm/disarm each group separately without having to arm each camera separately like I believe is required with Eufy and many other better camera systems. I can also arm/disarm all cameras via an Alexa command when coming and going though out the day. Arming/disarming each camera separately would be a nightmare especially with family members. I use a schedule for arming/disarming a couple times each week, but typically arming/disarming requirements vary each day. So, not being able to group cameras and arm/disarm all or each group would not work. Am I wrong about Eufy? Is there a way to arm/disarm them by groups (indoor/outdoor) or to arm/disarm all at once?

      That's the appeal of the Blink modules, but it's not worth it. Local storage is not really local, its just a back up that only seems to kick in once the data on the cloud is uploaded at the end of the day and even then that is spotty. You can get an alert fairly quick, but if you want to actually see what's on the feed, get ready to wait anywhere from 20-40 seconds. It's a product designed around the cloud, and if their servers act up you are even worse out of luck.
      You are better off going with a low key Wyze at this point (might need a 3d printer or 3rd party cover to make it all black), as at least each module has an SD card in them which stores the video right then and there, and can be accessed from the app. Even better, if you hardwire it with a USB cable, 24/7 recording, which auto deletes the oldest footage in favor of the new.

    Blink 4 has slower motion detection because the lense is a wider angle and everything is smaller. But the 3rd Gen brings everything closer and can be detected sooner. But I don't see much difference in video quality. Not enough to make me go buy 1 or the other. If you don't need audio then the eufy may better but the audio is horrible on the eufy. Plus you you have to consider the whole eco system as it plays together. The eufy isn't great enough to switch even for a few bucks. And upgrading to the gen 4 from the gen 3 is pointless . All these cameras are about the same quality as a aftermarket car camera. And only recently the car cams got a new processor upgrade. And in the car cam world, they all use the same platform and processor from china. So the quality is about the same. And it looks like the home cameras are similar to the car cams. They all need to be updated. If the larger Home systems had remote apps, like the one at harbor freight, then that would be ideal. You need a bigger lens. But many of those on record to a DVR. And don't have app features on a phone.

    main issue you missed is that the battery life on the blinks is waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better. they go at least 3+ years on the same batteries. Mine are 3 yrs of heavy usage and still going so who knows how long they last. Many reviewers lie about the blink battery life. So, not having to take the blinks down and charge them is big. I dont own a C210, but I think it claims 3 month battery life? And yeah you can use a solar panel but in my experience those kinda suck, they look bad and add a lot of hassle to the install. but yeah the c210 is wayyyy better video quality and price (if you dont get the blink on sale). if you dont mind charging it. oh, and blinks dont have person detection without a sub iirc. where eufy does. but otoh eufy only has local storage without a sub i believe so someone could steal your eufycam and footage, whereas blink can record to the sync module inside (eugy maybe to the homebase, but homebase is way more expensive)

      Dude you are in the minority in the battery life of your Blink… I’m not sure what you consider “heavy” usage but I had my Blink XT before and lasted 2 years but in my side yard which only gets activated once a week, 30 seconds per recording. I tested the blink doorbell, lasted 2 1/2 months in my front door and this what I consider heavy usage because it gets activated every time we get in and out of the house.

    • @cryengine_x
      @cryengine_x Před 11 měsíci

      @@LifeHackster wow thats insane definitely defective if so. the blink xt is old i dont have that maybe its different. i have the blink doorbell too maybe its also different, but i have mine wired anyway so idk about that battery life. so i'm specifically talking about the blink 3 cameras i guess. but why i say heavy usage is they get set off a LOT by wasps buzzing them. or at least they used too for the first 1-2 years. Cus I used to get the alerts and I'd get them constantly. And I bought these in November 2020 and they're still on the same original AA batteries.
      Blink is pretty trash though in every other area such as very poor video quality, very short live view, no PC App, and no person detection without sub (any cam without person detection is pretty useless for alerts). but the battery/ease of use is the one standout point, no other camera comes close (yet) that i know of. but yeah $120 is a joke.
      i want to get one of these c210 to see how long the battery lasts. 6 months would be good enough for me. but 3 months if true is pushing it...or it could also have a exchangeable battery pack that would be nice. still seems like a great option for 50 bucks. i wanna get one to play with even though i dont need it ahh nerd life...these wifi stand alone cams are convenient, but another big drawback to battery cams is 30 ft pir distance whereas wired have 100 ft...

After a year (and obviously a winter) my two cameras still show « OK » on their battery status after 14 months of use. In november, I will put fresh batteries to be sure to go through winter without problems. When buying them on sale and using local storage, they are a relatively cheap solution, even taking into account the cost of a pack of lithium batteries once a year. Really like your work. Bonjour from the province of Québec. Au plaisir.

      @@denisbouchard5158 I totally agree with you. I have 3 blink cameras, I live in the UK so yes we get cold wet icy winters too. Don't fancy getting ladders out in winter to change the batteries. Like you I've had my batteries in my cameras way over a year and there all still good. 👍 I will put new ones in probably Nov time too. And the lithium energizer batteries are not that expensive to buy on amazon. The eufy camera does look nice & clear footage but if the batteries only last a few months that's a no no from me. 👍😉

    I wouldn't recommend any of these anymore. They're not here. My friend had AU fee security system. And his home base 3 quit working and the AI wasn't great anymore. And blink hacked all the time

    Blink cams are garbages.Even the cheapest Dekco cams are much better than them.

    I would suggest you steer a billion miles away from blink.
    I have five cameras with blink with nearly two years and I have nothing but problems with the whole system with five months. Their customer support is absolutely useless too.
