LIFE IN PISAC - SUNDAYS AT THE MARKET 🍌🍇

  • Ahhhh the Pisac Market 🤤 It's been three weeks in Pisac, and we've spent every Sunday at the famous Mercado De Artesanía! Travellers & locals come from far and wide to experience this incredible market, and EAT!
    Click to subscribe 👉bit.ly/2un44TZ
Give Pisac a quick Google, and you'll find two main attractions: the ruins and the Sunday market. Due to it's popularity, you can still visit the market other days of the week, but if you want the FULL experience, Sunday is where it's at.
    Coming from Cusco? Easy peasy.
👉 Take a collectivo from Pavitos Colectivo A Ollantaytambo
👉 Pay $4 soles for a 45 minute journey through the mountains to Pisac
    When should you arrive?
If you're looking to do the food tour, like we did, plan to arrive for a late breakfast (10am) at Mercado de Pisac where they have fresh juices, smoothies, and breakfast items like quinoa fruit pancakes (MUST TRY).
PS, there are actually two markets you can visit and they aren't located together: the Mercado de Pisac which is mostly grocery items and food vendors (and some goods upstairs, but more for locals) and Mercado De Artesanía where you will find standard Peruvian souvenirs every day of the week, and food vendors on Sunday.
Make your way up to the Mercado De Artesanía after 12pm for a traditional Peruvian lunch, like the always-delicious stuffed peppers and bean stew. You can't beat lunch for $5 soles.
Planning to buy an alpaca sweater? 🦙
This can be a totally overwhelming experience with their high pressure sales tactics, so go into it knowing that I paid $40 soles for the same sweater another traveller paid $25. You can haggle if you're brave enough, so decide how much you're willing to pay and stick to it!
Can the fruit make me sick?
We've heard from other travellers not to eat fruits you can't peel. Rest assured knowing we have eaten every fruit available here without problem. Everything is so fresh and delicious, we highly recommend you give the nectarines, plums and mangos a try!

Nice!! Our host Sachi brewed his own wachuma at the house we stayed at and we did get a chance to experience it but decided to enjoy the day without the pressures of filming. It’s definitely worth exploring but prepare for a full day! We enjoyed ours hanging on the property outside the house playing music and lying in the grass. 10 hours later and we were still feeling some of the effects. Enjoy Pisac, it’s a pretty special place!

That place is the Origin of Several Plants that we already know. One of them is *Corn* that only grows at that high altitude. Every time we read about Origin of Corn, Mexico is the reference, but the real secret is that Peru has more varieties of Corn that can only grows at that high elevation and varieties that can grow at the Rainforest

Blair, in Cusco we can eat a big white grain of Corn, unique in the World. The name is *Choclo Gigante del Cusco*. It is soft, tasty and juicy. Hope you may add this to your healthy list of food, Happy Birthday, even though it is too late, it is a pleasure to greet you anyway 👍

Hi I’m a digital nomad and I’m debating whether to stay the 3 months in pisac or Cusco. Any feedback ?

    • @blairtodream2853
      @blairtodream2853  Před rokem

Heyyy!! Amazing, we are jealous! We loved Pisac and could have definitely stayed longer. There is a great community of nomads and locals there especially if you are in the yoga/meditation space! Cusco is a pretty quick and cheap ride away using the collectivo’s that leave from town and they are pretty regular! Really depends what kind of vibe you are going for. Cusco = bigger city with potentially more to see/do and Pisac = smaller community feel and opportunities to be alone if you’d like!
My wife also worked from her computer daily without any wifi issues so you shouldn’t need to worry about that in either place! With 3 months you could probably split your time between the two as well if you’d like! Happy Travels ✌️

Seems like somebody doesn’t know how to follow the community guidelines. Seeing as though you want to judge from behind a computer screen I’ll explain a bit about our story. 6 months prior to this trip I lost my job and had no idea what I was going to do. I took another job for a lot less money and grinded out the entire summer saving every last penny knowing that we wanted to experience a trip like this! My wife continued to work full time the entire time we were in South America and we sacrificed a lot to be able to go on this adventure together.
Are we white? YES. Do we acknowledge our privilege? YES. Are we rich? Only with experiences!
Take your negative energy elsewhere 😎
      Ohh and thanks for watching!
