    Thanks Johannes! Louder is better most of the time although covering long distances at constant throttle it can be annoying. But that’s why we wear earplugs, right? I will also add my vote in favour of a custom dyno tune. The lamda sensor doesn’t do the whole job. Dyno runs are expensive but the only way to go in my opinion. Looking at the various lean areas and smoothing it all out with extra fuel is a real education. And there’s no substitute for hard numbers rather than ‘feel’. Mind you, at the end of the day it’s not a race bike, so all this depends on your care factor.

    • @JohannesDalenMC
      @JohannesDalenMC  Před rokem

      Regarding a dyno run vs a piggy back - my knowledge is rather limited, but the fuel commander I have is supposed to be pretty advanced. It’s plugged into all sensors on the bike and uses the data from these to find the correct tune. I’m sure a dyno run is still much better though!

    If you do NOT have a significant increase of power, especially in the mid range, your A/F ratio is not correct or you made some mistakes while installing it. Keep in mind that all these newer bikes run quite lean when comming from factory. Adding a complete open exhaust will make the mixture even leaner. And this might, if you do not adjust fuel, might also cause engine damages...

    I think just about every bike I have owned I changed the muffler or full exhaust and all I ever got from it was maybe a little weight saving but definitely more noise.
    Now I just run the standard exhaust, as for weight saving, I don’t think it makes any difference at all, sure you may lose 5 Kg but is it noticeable ? Probably not, and as for the cost, exhaust systems are ridiculously expensive.
    I have also found that the noise level is okay up to a point then it just becomes annoying and tedious after a few hours on the road, that constant droning or booming noise drives me mad, around town or for short rides it is fine but after 1 or 2 hours on a trip I am wishing for a little more peace and quite.

    • @JohannesDalenMC

      Changing end cap is a no brainer in my book. That along with a lithium battery and you can save several KGs for not a lot of money, but headers are definitely not mandatory. I ‘only’ paid 200€ for these, so I’m happy, but going full titanium for three times the price is a bit overkill. I think 5kg is great, but if it’s noticeable is another discussion 😅

    • @whitedrguy6503
      @whitedrguy6503 Před rokem

      @@JohannesDalenMC 5 Kg on a 200+ bike makes no difference, 15 or 20 would be good but depending where the weight is removed from makes a difference.
      A bit like adding a centrestand for example, it adds 5 Kg to the bike but because the weight is so low it goes unnoticed, or adding or subtracting the weight of fuel from the T7 makes a noticeable difference, it still feels top heavy with a few litres in the tank but when it is full you know it.
      Weight saving itself is good but more important is where the weight is saved or added.
      The jury is still out with me on lithium batteries, for the sake of a little weight I still prefer the bike to start when I hit the button, lithium can still be a bit hit and miss on a cold morning. 😂😂😂😂

    Hey there Johannes, great to see you again! I just watched this video and I am happy to see you still modifying your T7 (I like the custom windshield a lot!) :)
    After your upcoming trip to Spain, please share your honest reflections after riding a long distance with that loud exhaust.
    Reason I am asking is that I recently tried all possible combinations of db-killers to my Wings exhaust and finally decided to stay with the most silent setup... I liked the mean sound and the pops, but in the end going silently was more important - both for others around me, but also to my ears.

    Hey brother, I’m thinking about doing a decat on my T7. Can you please link the O2 censor extension for me please? Also, how can I go about getting a tune and a power commander as well? Thank you in advance brother

    • @JohannesDalenMC
      @JohannesDalenMC  Před rokem +1

      Hey man!
      The O2 sensor cable is from Fueldongles in Spain (can’t link here on YT), but check with the manufacturer of the decat you go for first, they often supply the cable in the package.
      Getting a tune the proper way means taking your bike to a shop that does a dyno. A power commander is something you plug into the bike that changes the mapping. If you have a dyno shop nearby I’d recommend that. Hope this was helpful my friend 😊

    maybe I was unlucky but my black widow decat put the check engine light on. puts the eu5 o2 sensor where the eu4 wS with the loom extension. my extension was not very good quality and I think water got in, that or moving the sensor further down made it freak out. ended up with the cat back on and a motoes skid plate.

    To me the heat it's the worst thing, I've considered the the decat, but I'm afraid it will be to loud, like you said too much louder sometimes don't sound good, I don't even took out the dB killer from the muffler.
    I have the black widow brushed 300mm muffler, it's been a good surprise for what I've paid, I've seen Akrapovic leaking from the rivets and this one not a single leak.
    Edit, I've also did something similar with pvc, the test was done with a some industrial detergent bucket... After that I bought some pvc, but I use it under the oem wind shield with risers
