@@bryanmilenia oh for sure, but even at launch, I had more fun with NMS than this, the guards literally took 2-3 heatshots to kill, so stealth gameplay was basically impossible

I’m especially impressed by how he snuck into Square Enix’s game development servers, replaced all of the audio files with his joke dub, and convinced them to never patch it back to the original dialogue that would reflect the complex and mature storytelling that the Front Mission series has been known for!

It's also a Front Mission game, despite that is never clarified (presumably because they knew this was a stinker). I remember all the reviews being confused about the lore, because it was actually based on a franshise dating back to 1995
I remember when this game was announced and it being set in the Front Mission universe I was excited until it got closer to launch and unfortunately I seen the writing on the wall with this.
Much like “Man of Steel” being too embarrassed to call itself a Superman movie, “Left Alive” was too embarrassed… Says a lot when the last FM game was the Armored Core wannabe “Evolved”

@@SteveSmith-rt7wx "Man of Steel" was an indirect title like "The Dark Knight". In both cases, it's pretty obvious who the movie is about, especially since those are commonly used nicknames for their heroes.
Front Mission was already dead after Front Mission Evolved, but this just took the coffin and poured concrete on top.
I beat this last year with a trainer that increased my movement speed, it was literally the only reason I could stomach the insane distance the player character had to travel on foot in these gargantuan levels. Even with that enabled, it still took me 31 hours to complete. Also, Olga is wholesome and best character.

@@lucianograff6512 Civillians, Military and Criminal Elements dealing with a Mech Invasion of their country and has all three slowly piecing together evidence of subterfuge and government conspiracies. It's a pretty interesting idea but it tried to do everything at once with a very small team and a noticeably low budget.

I think one of the funniest things about this game was they hyped this game up just to release it with more ads than the game itself got
The tragedy here is that some kind of "Final Fantasy / Metal Gear" style crossover game really could work, yet this is what they came up with instead.

People have forgotten Front Mission and the concept of Wanzers, even the developers themselves.
Check Front Mission (a franchise this is supposed to be an entry on) for the literal fusion of Final Fantasy Tactics and Metal Gear setting/writing. Sadly, the last real entry was on the PS2 and from then on they just make bastardizations like this one and Evolve(that is just another 3rd person shooter on a robot, with dumbed down mechanics)

I can do worse. Give you the option to confront him, have that lead to you playing AS him in a boss fight against the hero, and then have him winning that fight be the CANON ending.

This is one of those games where even though it's awful I can see the potential it had.
There's way too many movie, TV show and game franchises where they had excellent premises but just failed in every other way. Sword Art Online? Great idea with a great soundtrack and decent artists, but unfortunately the writing is abismal and the acting (in the dub anyway) is mediocre.
@@L1LegoAnimations the acting is great in the japanese audio, but that's basically a given in the anime industry. it's very rare to see an anime not have good voice acting even if literally everything else sucks

Fun fact: if you look at the map of Ruthenia and Garmoniya in the opening cutscene, you'll see that the two countries are just present-day Ukraine split in half down the middle. Even better, Zaftra is basically a union of Slavic nations with Russia as it's largest and most influential member-state.
I mean Ruthenian is like an actual culture or something, roughly around Ukraine. Not sure about the other stuff though.

The "dialogue options" in this game are so pointless. The only thing preventing the orphan from committing sudoku is _one_ option, and regardless of the outcome she's gone from the game after that.

So the game is basically Metal Gear fanfiction that gets the art made by the man who made an entire official Metal Gear Character design and Art Director. Also, it's officially set in Front Mission universe.

My library had this game and I put a hold on it since someone had it checked out when I found it in the database. I waited and waited, and it was never returned. When I went back and checked, it got purged from the library's collection. I can only assume the person who checked it out prior decided to help the next person in line and just destroyed it.
That's hilarious and I'm trying to imagine the state of the game for them to remove it from the selection. Also, since when did libraries start allowing patrons to take out games? That is awesome from middles school up until about age 16 I went to the library. We would take out movies but not to often because it was hard to remember to return books or movies. It seems you didn't miss out though.

given that Super Robot Wars kind of had a PS4/PC renaissance, and came out with 4 more modern games that I think did...pretty well? I am amazed that Squeenix doesnt fucking make another Front Mission. TRPGs are still popular.

Is this the game that splits Ukraine into two with roughly the map of russian fantasies, and overall VERY pro-russian presentation of it? I am glad it didn't take off... Like, media influences perception much more than we give it credit for. For example, Call of Duty Modern Warfare (the new one) recreated battles in Donbas with accompanying russian war crimes so well it got half-banned in russia and (original) MW2 has that level that goes like their typical hostage rescue (see Beslan or Nord-Ost.)
We are lucky anti-russian games are just better.
