I was in this choir! A tenor 2 Got the name of the song tattooed on my arm. “Ubi Caritas Et Amor” Will always cherish this moment and this choir. I’ve been fortunate to sing with many incredible choirs, but none will ever top the 2018 Colorado mixed Allstate Choir.
I remember singing in All State here in Georgia. The feeling you get in that very first warm up on day one rehearsal.....when you hear that harmony....your skin tingles, your spine shivers, your eyes water. You truly feel the music. You can't help but get emotional. You are with your people and you are making the notes come to life. What an absolutely beautiful thing to be a part of! This choir is top notch and that fortissimo at 1min 30sec........ BEAUTIFUL!
This makes me so excited for All State this year! I can't wait to have this feeling, itll be a nice send-off gift to end my highschool choral experience and start a new chapter of singing at my university.
I'm a very long way from being a religious person, but singing the Fauré Requiem in one of England's great old cathedrals was awful close to a transcendent experience.
Same with All State in VA. We would do a piece nightly at the hotel and it was glorious to see and hear almost perfect strangers singing in harmony without clear direction but we all knew what we were there to do on those balconies.💗💗💗
During the summer of 1969, my high school choir went to Europe for three weeks. One of those weeks ( early August ) was spent in Freiburg, Germany participating in an international choirfest. There were choirs from Germany, Switzerland, France, and us, the kids from the United States. I had a working knowledge of German, so that was quite useful. However, most of us could not converse. But, we could all sing together so beautifully . To this day I cherish that experience. To the Colorado choir I offer this: Cherish what you do. While we're in the coronavirus crisis, you have added joy to a troubled world. May God bless.
Strange you should ask. I actually started playing my older brother's 4-string tenor guitar when I was 10. My father had a 6-string I often tried to play, but I found it a bit large and hard to handle. About that same time my parents gave me a nice wooden ukulele, which I still have 58 years later. In my younger days I practiced until my fingers got sore, but not bloody. Currently, I have a six string and a twelve string, but I never seem to have a great deal of time to practice. My church choir is my fall-back these days, but meeting on Zoom is a little strange. We're working with a new program called SongAlong, but it is far from perfect. Thanks for asking about my past musical interests. And, one more thing - my elementary school music teacher is still around. She is 88, and still sharp as a tack. We have stayed in touch over the years. I owe her so much.
THANKS GOD I've just fucking found this comment 😱 I've been looking for the name of that song for a long long long long time, maybe for years and finally I get it. Thank you for that ♥♥️♥️
Ok, my band director has explained what an overtone is, but i have never been able to hear it (not truly) till now. He explained that it sounds like the most beautifully in harmony baritone playing over the harmonics and that is exactly what it sounded like ... from human voices!?! my ears have been blessed. Edit - why... just why would anyone have a reason to dislike this?
@@vorticosecomb Their voices give me the strangest feeling. Makes my ears vibrate and the hair on my neck stand up. And things in my field of vision feels like it's going too fast and too slow all at once. It's haunting and beautiful at the same time. I never thought I liked this style of singing.
I was about to quit choir too! I was gonna take a child development class instead, but now after seeing this, I can't just leave my second family. They mean so much to me and I would be so down if I lost them. So, now I'm gonna take choir for all my years in highschool.
They honestly sound so so beautiful and I’m really impressed with their sound considering the place must’ve pretty echo-y and they could’ve gone off key ! Really admirable choir !!
Stunning. Angelic. Superlative. Every words falls short for me here. Therefore, theres obviously no real words that would do justice to this perfect rendition. Thank you. That was utterly beautiful ❤
We sometimes do something like this in our (school) choir. We've sung in a tunnel and hallways, and it's just magical. This video shows very well how that feels...
You can search 'josu elberdin - ubi caritas et amor' on CZcams and whether in a concert hall or an auditorium, you will not hear as beautiful a version as this balcony setting. The acoustics are superb, but the choir...OMG! The choir is fantastic!

So many different people. All from completely different backgrounds singing as one. Its absolutely stunning. Thank you God for your power being shown through the voices of those who use it for you.
This is why I love music, this right here. From 'fine' to 'crying my eyes out' in 10 seconds flat. Music is a universal medium and I'll be damned if it makes a jaded, cynical person like me 'feel' something again. I miss being in a choir like this, I miss being able to do this sort of thing. Gorgeous arrangement, and perfect execution. Bravo~ Bravo!~
This is such a beautiful song. My first time hearing it was in a mixed chorus at Carnegie Hall one night when I sang in women's chorus. It's so beautiful and nostalgic :)

If that is what my welcoming to death is like, I'll take it in a heartbeat. This is such a beautiful piece with such a beautiful group of musicians.
Lol, if only that could happen... the whole hotel is for choir students and teachers only...
