- A walk along the floor of the Langdale Valley in the English Lake District, from New Dungeon Ghyll to Elterwater and back again along the valley floor. This stunning low level walk is ideal for families and those who do not wish to access the higher fells, with magnificent scenery all the way round.
Lovely video! Off to Langdale shortly and really looking forward to it. Many thanks :)
Hope you have a great time. Did you check out the walk from Blea Tarn to Side Pike? A bit of a scramble but stunning views all around.
Watched again! Even better 2 nd time, ATB Eric, Kenny
Thank you. It's always been one of my favourite walks. When I'm old and grey and can't get up the hills any more, I like to think I'll still be able to walk the Langdale Valley.
thanks so much, a very fun and informative video. Now I know a bit about the Microsoft screen saver that keeps popping on my computer.
Thank you. I'm still waiting for Mr Gates to dig deep and offer me a commission!
Thanks for uploading Eric, big thumbs up from me Sir. TC Kenny
Thank you. It is a lovely little walk for those days when time is a bit limited for getting on the higher fells. Cracking views without the need to climb.
Was round here yesterday Eric. Did the climb up to stickle tarn from the dungeon ghyll hotel. Amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it. Stickle Tarn is a great place for a swim. Despite the height, the water is often warmer than many of the lakes.
@@jonathancraigguides I’ll take a dip next time. The pub was calling and the sun was setting 😂. The path down is pretty steep in the dusk! Have you been out and about on the fells lately Eric? You should do tours! I would certainly join you.
@@cosmofoxgaming1268 Not been out much this year. Had a death in the family, and also young grandchildren to entertain. But in a couple of years time they will be old enough to venture onto the low fells so I am really looking forward to that.
@@jonathancraigguides sorry to hear about the sad news, my condolences. Great news about the grandkids , sure they will appreciate your expertise! Stay well mate
thank you jonothan for vidio
Thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
That is a fine walk and some of the greatest scenery on the planet , would love to see a tracing of it on the map with you , located the start and finish spots ok 👍🌟🙄
Dates to the days before I knew how to put the animated maps up. Starts and ends at the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and follows the route of the Cumbria Way for a mile before detouring right at Oak Howe to take the route through the woods to Elterwater. Just before Elterwater you could turn left to follow the sign for Chapel Stile. That takes you through the quarries and down to the river at Chapel Stile, but the video route continues on, coming into Elterwater from the narrow road just by the Eltermere Hotel (as was, I think it may have changed its name since). From Elterwater it follows the Cumbria Way back before crossing the river just before Oak Howe and taking the new path (well, nearly new path) to cut through to the old valley road, now a farm track, and back to the hotel.
@@jonathancraigguides great thanks for the reply and information 😉
nice , informative video, I've subscribed :)
+Christian Rouse Thank you.
no problem.
Great video👍👍I am planing to visit this place in summer for bit of cycling and walking, can you please let us know where can we find PDF guide¿¿
Thank you, Hope you have a lovely visit. You can find the pdf here :- www.lakes-breaks.com/langdalevalleybottom.pdf
@@jonathancraigguides Thanks a lot is April good time to visit??
@@vikramodedra4351 April, May and June tend to be the driest months. April can sometimes be a bit cold if winter hangs on a bit, however, this year we have had a relatively mild winter, so it is likely to be warm. There will be new growth on the trees and lambs in the fields, plus by April everywhere is open, so you should have a great time.
@@jonathancraigguides very kind of you thsnks
How far are you from the Lakes Eric? If you dont mind me asking. ATB Kenny
yes i would like to no that too
Canny.you take care marra
You do realise you will be on the "Homeland security" watch list after giving out the recipe for gunpowder ;)
Ha ha. Love it. I didn't give the quantities though.
Next up Eric's guide to walking in Guantanamo
Too late. Chris Tarrant has already done that on his extreme railways series.
You would have made a better job of it than that irritating plonker :)
