  • This has been a very good way to sand small pieces of Tubing when needed. At times it is so awful to sand our fingers while fabricating anything, but small tiny pieces of tubing are the worst. This tip will help you to achieve that flat top and bottom to set your tiny precious gems. The helpers here, are simple wood Dowels, that you can find in any craft store.

Another way is to use a miter vise. I use it instead of a tube cutter and it works for tiny pieces perfectly. I've seen the wooden dowel rods used to cut jump rings too. It always helps to learn different ways to do the same thing and pick what works best for you. Thanks so much for sharing your tips!

an even faster method is to chuck up your dowel in a #30 handpiece and turn it into a mini lathe. run the tube that is fixed on the dowel as you did in the video, but run the edge against a file. Be sure the rotation of the tube is going towards the cutting side of the file. It might be necessary to stabilize the dowel between your fingers. Move the file back and forth slowly against the tube as it's turning so as to introduce new unclogged teeth. This works even better if you have enough tubing length to put directly in the chuck.
