Hahahaha Bill's Stefon character on weekend Update Killed me every single time. He had no idea what he was going to say as the writers wrote it beforehand and he was just reading it. He could never keep a straight face and laughed every single time.

Mulaney deliberately did not let Hader see the scripts for Stefan beforehand, so him cracking up is because he is reading the script for the first time whilst live.

I personally love his John Malkovich sketch! It's so perfect and the fact that Malkovich is arguing about it with him makes it even funnier.
Stefan was always a scream because Bill Hader never knew quite what the cue cards would say until when he was on air. Thus the breaking of character and the classic hands cover face move... LoL!
God that Californians skits where they talk about what highways to take on their route will always be crazy accurate. 😂

Even though I didn’t grab watching much Saturday night live, Bill Hader has to be one of my favorite comedians.
I was mostly watching to make sure that Stefon was number one.
Bill Hader could recite the alphabet and probably have me dying laughing if he wanted to*, but this would have been wrong if Stefon was anywhere else in the list.

Of course my favorite is Stefon but I remember him doing a sketch where played Alvin the Chipmunk. I really liked that one too. All his characters are great.

Just to be clear about Stefon and why Hader cracked up so much: Hader and John Mullaney created the Dtefon charcater and would write his bits together for Weekend Update. Hader would rehearse it before the show, but Mullaney would then add material without telling Hader. Haderw ould see it for the first time on the cue cards and (if anyone has ever seen even one version of it) most of of the people and things in "New York's hottest nightclub" which "has everything" would be incredibly random -- and funny. Hader would try very hard to stay in character, but Mullaney is a terrific writer and knew how "get" Hader. Thus comic gold was produced!

My favorite is Greg the Alien. I'm not sure if it was his first apperance, but I remember him totally freaking out when the guest in the sketch grabbed his tail and wouldn't let go.
