Roseanne bar
I was really disappointed with Michael Richards from Seinfeld. What he said during his stand up was deplorable. Roseanne Barr is a close second. I watched Peewee's Playhouse religiously every Saturday morning. 😂
I will never forgive Kathy Griffin for her stunt!
@@Jeremiah_Rivers76 , agree💯 I never really cared for her at all. Revolting what she did!!
I have a feeling being in Son Of the Mask did way more damage for Jamie Kennedy
I still believe that Paul Reubens’ career was unfairly destroyed at the time. I’m glad that he’s still finding work
it was.
@@thecunninlynguistWasn't Paul Reuben arrested again but with worse charges?
@@kenterminateddq5311 no
@@kenterminateddq5311no. You must be thinking of another Paul or a similar sounding name.
Yup. Obviously because he was so popular with kids……oddly enough… he originally intended Pee Wee to be more adult based humor.
The worst thing for a Comedian is making any offensive joke that NOBODY Laughs at.
But the best thing is walking the fine line and getting the laugh.
@@bradr3541fuck yeah! Louis ck is amazing at it
@@bilalc4415did he have to wank off onstage?
I feel like most comedians bomb pretty often when trying new material. The problem is usually when audience members record these moments and claim the comedian is racist or sexist when, let's be honest, they just haven't worked out the punchline just yet.
@@bilalc4415 If you’re a fan of a JERK like Louis CK, then you’re a ❄️❄️❄️
I absolutely loved Charles Rocket. His struggle with depression was heartbreaking. I don’t know why he sabotaged his gig at SNL, but it’s entirely possible that he felt like he didn’t belong there and found a way to get himself fired.
Half of the people on this list had "setbacks" and not "destroyed careers"....LOL
For many of these people the phrase “destroyed their career” doesn’t apply.
If Eddie Murphy goes, you can't say that, on his face, you know you're in trouble.
For real. Us LBGTQ people still laugh at Murphey’s f***ot police siren joke from Raw. If HE says someone crossed lines, that someone should listen…
Charles Rocket didn't "accidentally" swear--it's obvious he did it on purpose. He came across as arrogant and obnoxious in all 12 of his SNL appearances. He slit his own throat in 2005 at age 54, sadly.
I was going to say the same but with a gentler tone. 😁
@@musicisgoodforthesoul999 I just found out he played the father in the Disney kids film Hocus Pocus. I never connected that actor with him, which shows he has range. Did a good job with a small part.
Robin Williams committed suicide as well. Ironically enough, I found Williams good as a regular actor but not so good as a comedian.
@@letolethe3344 he was in Delirious with John Candy and I thought he was a hoot. sad ending for him RIP
Getting fired from SNL is the best thing that could’ve happened to Shane Gillis’ career. He got name recognition and wouldn’t have had his standup career stifled by SNL. Standup is where he truly shines. He’s doing unbelievably great right now.
Omg I said the same thing brother 🤣 like Shane is doing fantastic as a free agent away from the corruption of main stream woke tv networks lol
I saw Jamie Kennedy at a comedy club in 2009, and he spent like half the show pretending to hump things. No one was laughing.
Omg, seeing a comedian bomb on stage is so awkward and embarrassing.
@@DarkPhoenixSaga it was. It was even more sad when no one lined up for his autograph or photos. I still did, though lol
so your Gilbret entry is based off his Aflac success...you even conceded at the end of the entry, he still had movie/tv/game roles...so how in the hell did he destroy his career? One measly commercial spokes role ending did not end his career at all.
At the beginning of the list, he clearly stated that some of the comedians might have bounced back later on.
Not defending Gilbert he shouldve had said what he said but he is a comedian and The Black and Queer community is always getting cooked and attacked at every turn
If there’s anything worse than other people ruining people’s lives and careers for whatever reason, it’s people ruining their own careers for whatever reason
Idk. I think you need to take responsibility for your actions especially when you mess up but this is basically just part of cancel culture and I reject it.
The “cancel culture” is people being turned off by the gross behavior. Taking responsibility would be just that and accepting your words and actions can ruin your career and did, and not pretending there’s a “mob” out there to get you.
We have worse than cancel culture rearing it's ugly head as we speak. I seen where Britain jailed 3300 people so far for saying things that weren't liked. Cry babies are the new Nazis.
@@revengeofbcraig5755 lol naw. You’re obviously a part of that very brigade you claim doesn’t exist. I can read your other comments.
@@revengeofbcraig5755 Except there is a mob--an online mob of arrogant, degenerate whiners who get off on tearing down others. If only those whiners held themselves up to the same standards they held others to they'd realize how ignorant they themselves really are. Easier to point fingers at others than be introspective and work on your own misgivings, I know.
Taking responsibility rather than pretending is great. If only more people practiced what they preached rather than expecting it from others first.
Eminem is still going strong , the reason he isnt "canceled" is because he doesn't responed. Most people either try to apologize with a non apology apology or double down which leads to them being canceled. Also people have every right to tell some they're sack of shit and no longer buying your product in the very same way people are allowed to say shit that gets them canceled. Freedom of speech is a two way street.
Shane Gillis talking about racist comments to Joe Rogan? Sounds like they’re both right at home.
Beat it dork
Shane Gillis and Gilbert Gottfried continued their work in comedy, even if the some people wanted them "cancelled".
and GG had his super popular podcast. and a quick google search showed he still had commercials afterwards
Kathy Griffin’s photo made a lot of people say, “That’s horrible to do to our president! That’s a _horrible_ thing for our country!“
And then after January 6, they all ate their words like they were at Golden Corral.
January 6 was genuine anger over a stolen election. Like happened in 1876.
I thought it was brilliant
only the right are sensitive. whenever there's a Dem pres, the right say and do worse things and nobody blinks an eye. again, repubicunts are sensitive babies
@@dionmarbury Remember how Ted Nugent talked about killing President Obama? If it only happened for real.
Pretty sure Jamie Kennedy's career was destroyed once 'Malibu's Most Wanted' was released..
I think it was Son of the Mask.
@@jessetrimbach5908 yep Malibu's most wasn't nearly as bad, at least back then haha
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Rest in peace, Gilbert.
It's always weird when someone gets in trouble for pleasuring themselves in a cinema that only shows adult films.
WHAT A SHOCK Kramer is #1.
He'll always be remembered for that one night
Yep, just like how David Carradine is remembered for that one thing.
Regardless of what happened afterwards, Kramer was still the best part of Seinfeld.
I think all four of the main characters are interesting enough, in their respective ways.
shane gillis is bigger than he was before his firing. selling out arenas, touring with huge comedians, a successful comedy special. ironically bigger than any snl star of the past 10 years. id hardly say it destroyed his career, actually the opposite.
yeah honestly he got a great story out of it, and even better he avoided being on that unfunny program
Who?
@@revengeofbcraig5755 funny beer drinking man
Who even is that?
Anyone partially into comedy knows who the young Bull is. Shane is a powerhouse.
I mean Louis C.K. asked at least lol
Michael in curb your enthusiasm is fantastic, dude said he was sorry and cried..... He learned, he never did it again, leave em alone
I’m glad you said that MICHAEL was sorry, not Kramer, the character he plays. Besides, he still apologized, and his apology seemed very sincere. Yeah, a few people were laughing in the audience, but so what? Many CZcamsrs nowadays fake their apologies just to have sympathy from their audience, which surprisingly works unfortunately. Michael is still a comedic genius. Kramer or not, he’s put so much effort in his performance, and you have to respect that. After all Michael Richards is way funnier than Logan Paul.
@@Obsessedwithcookies758 like i GET why he went full N word and did the thing..... The guy WAS being a heckler and interrupting mike alot but like RDJ said.... Never go full retard
Michael is still the best in Seinfeld, given that his character is a pain but funny
That would be George.
I've never made the connection that Gilbert did that Afflack duck
Kramer will always be legendary.
I'll second (or third or fourth or 17th) many of the comments that Charles Rocket doesn't belong on this list.
• For starters, he was part of a massive housecleaning at SNL, but that happened later when Dick Ebersol replaced Jean Doumanian. The only two repertory cast members to come back for Season 7 were Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo. So Rocket could have said "Oh, man, this is the first time I've ever been shot... I'd like to discover the identity of the perpetrator," and he still would have been gone before season's end.
• "It took Rocket a couple of years and a few smaller roles before he began getting steady work once more." The first part is true: he went two years with no screen credits. As for the rest of it, his career was pretty comparable with many an alum from the SNL cast, even people who had sizable tenures at Studio 8H. i.e. Rocket's exit from SNL may have had little bearing on his subsequent career.
• Paul Shaffer preceded Rocket in dropping an F-bomb on SNL He wasn't fired for it, so it follows that Rocket wasn't fired solely based on that one act.
• Some maintain Rocket did it on purpose, myself included. But Damon Wayans famously took a dive during an SNL sketch to get himself fired. He got the axe, and yet went on to a successful career that's still chugging along today.
TL;DR Rocket didn't destroy his career. At most, he might have delayed it a bit. Show biz is just a fickle beast.
Charles Rocket played Bruce WIllis' little brother on Moonlighting in the 1980s and appeared on a few episodes. He was a con-artist his brother kept having to bail-out.
Some of these are bullahit reasons to "cancel" people, like the Gilbert Gotfried one or the Kathy Griffin one or the guy who accidentally swore once
Or Paul Reubens being arrested for masturbating in a porno theatre. Like for real? What are you supposed to be doing there?
You mean the guy whole clearly swore once on purpose* I thought it was pretty damn funny btw
@@sergoldenhandthejust1495 I live in the UK and - as long as a show is on after 8pm (I think 9pm for "cunt", though) - you can swear as much as you like. I can't imagine how annoying that BLEEP is for people in America, but for U.S. shows I watch that use it (South Park for example) I have to search for the episode uncensored online because the bleeping annoys the fuck out of me. And I think it brings MORE attention to it than if the swear was just heard.
Don't forget about Shane he's doing fantastic it's because WatchMojo is sponsored by the woke corporations he's really doing fine and it wasn't even that bad WatchMojo on a dog leash lol
@@markalexander3659 Yeah, they've taken all the fun out of "shit". We're gonna have to say other bad words like "cock" and "fuck" and "mee krob".

I remember seeing Michael Richards apologize on David Letterman It also had Jerry Seinfeld as a guest who had to tell the audience to not laugh as it seems a bit 😒
For a next top 10 could you do top 10 actors that are underrated and I’ll even give you one to start off Dave franco
Yall put the Travis take on here for engagement. Respect the hustle lol
Paul Ruben has a pee wee Broadway show that came out in 2011 and was show on HBO which was pretty good

Me: lol Which time? Staring in Son of the Mask, or that horrible E3 hosting gig? I hadn't even heard about that special before 😂😂😂
How did Shane Gillis destroy his career? he has blown up? And Louis is doing great. his newest specials are winning awards!
I went to school with him and he’s always been hilarious! His career definitely rose.
They literally said that they were also including ppl whose careers later recovered
Putting out a few specials and getting an award isn’t the same as having recurring TV roles on long-running shows where your the star or being featured in movies
Yeah his career (CK) has bounced back, but not to the same levels that he once enjoyed
Maybe he should have said that kind of comment to black folks. He would not be doing anything new.
@@TheMulToyVerse getting an award? Getting a Grammy is not just sone award, pretty significant, he also routinely sells out huge venues
@@CartersRemasters
The significance of a Grammy or an Oscar or Golden Globe award is overblown. The moment that just getting nominated is treated as a big deal was the moment that the shine started to smudge
They use the fact that a person has received or been nominated for one as a way to inflate the quality of whatever project they are currently involved in
It’s not that earning an award or accolade is meaningless, it’s just that if I won a Pulitzer Prize for outstanding journalism 20 years ago, and that’s slapped at the top of every article I write from that point onward, people might think that I’m ~still~ putting out excellent work or that I still have integrity (even if I’m in auto-pilot mode)
That’s just a general point as CK’s award was very recent, but that doesn’t really mean much given his prior heights of success
If he keeps up the work and people believe that he’s not the same guy that (temporarily) crashed & burned his career, then we could see him return to TV/movies, but as it stands, his current situation isn’t on the same level as he was before ~he~ was exposed… for exposing himself
------
Edit:
The thing I was gonna mention earlier was that if an actor earns an Academy Award and then does a couple throw away bad movies for a quick payday, those bad movies will mention the high caliber of the actor as much as possible so that people might think the movie is better than it really is. After all, there’s no chance that a top level actor would ever do a bad movie… 🙄
5:00 we know him for Malibu's Most Wanted
How is Shane Gillis on this list? His career is anything but destroyed
WatchMojo libs do not understand
Who?
Wait, is the Jamie Kennedy talked about in this video the same one that appeared in the Ubisoft Conference? If it is, lol
Same person
Bill Cosby
"Destroyed" doesn't seem to apply for several of these comedians.
Intriguingly, Michael Richards may have been the first celebrity "cancelled" in the modern era. Previously, celebrities had become ostracised due their sexuality, or people thought they were communists, but Richards became, as South Park amusingly coined, the first n-word guy.
I’m still surprised that of all the people on this list, Michael Richards has effectively remained in exile
Not saying that he should he handed a medal for taking responsibility for his actions, but he seems to have more that paid the Piper for that fateful set
What did he do?
Even though they ruined their careers, they still have the same careers , there is no change ??
But it is not as high profile as it once was. Hence the killing!
Not all of them
some of these didn't destroy, we did !
So.. where are the comedians?
Kathy Griffin represents nothing but her ego. She's marginally humorous but revels in controversially fired attention. She's like Elizabeth Banks commenting about her failed "Charlie's Angels" movie. Rather than admit it was a horrible movie she reduced the dislike of her movie to everyone being a misogynist.
Yeaaaah but...Elizabeth Banks is frickin hot so....who cares what she says.
Roseanne‘s tweets may have also effected international sales of the revival. Cause as far as I know here in the UK we only had the original and jumped straight to the Connors.
I didn't know that Jamie Kennedy did anything after Son of The Mask😮
Shane gillis is bigger and more liked than ever lol
Nani!? Starts kicking shit. With my hands in my pockets - anime bully.
Ain't Gilbert Gottfried the VA of Digit(In Cyberchase)???
I could never be a famous person i couldn’t act all nice and sweet just to please people and not offend anyone I’ll say what I want u don’t like it that’s a u problem
Jamie Kennedy _had_ a career at some point?
I feel like Charles Rocket being here is a different case. This list includes people who said racist comments, people who had accusations of sexual assault, and then there's Rocket who just used an expletive on live television. That's a lot less extreme than a lot of the other cases.
Andy Cooper threw Kathy Griffin under the bus.
Audio mix is messed up once again.
I still love PeeWee!! Paul Reuben still rocks!!! And…..Kathy Griffin was right!! Still a fan…..that orange guy is the worst!
you really saved the best for last
you cant just leave out what they said
Can we get a top 10 voice actors who ruined their careers?
I’ll start with two I can name, Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat. Although their careers haven’t been destroyed, they are permanently stained after the scandals, Funimation leaks, the Sony purchas, hate they constantly get on Twitter and many CZcams clickbait videos.
You can probably add in John K, the original creator and voice in "Ren & Stimpy". Sexual harassment allegations effectively destroyed his career.
@@GeorgieB1965yeah I can never look at that show the same because of him, no offense to people who like it.
I never understood the Kathy Griffin thing when bands like GWAR have done far worse to mockups of presidents since the 80s
Comedian Celebrities should have gone to fortune teller see their future so their career don’t get destroyed
for me the kathie griffen was bad what she did. But to be let down so hard because they are afraid of the right is insane.
And for Loius ck who admited to jerking off on those women. All who said it was assault...and still having a carreer even getting a grammy for it. Is insane.
Lol we’re not afraid of your maga cult, we are laughing at you
It’s so crazy that Kathy Griffin had such backlash, but Roseanne had zero backlash for her photo shoot dressing up as Hitler and holding a cookie sheet of burnt gingerbread cookies.
She did receive backlash for it, from people like you, who look at an image and leave out the context
@@roh7130 it’s never a good idea to dress up as Hitler. Also, talking about context do you feel the same way about Kathy Griffin and her photo shoot?
@@Xenaga Monty Python's Flying Circus had an episode of Hitler and other major Nazis at a British boarding house.
Uh… pee-wee Herman actually almost immediately reprised that role to host an MTV award show, and even joked about the event AS peewee immediately after it happened. But I’m sure you guys neglected to find out that information since you guys always get things wrong on this channel. You know, like that time you said that Star Wars had the number one greatest opening credits sequence of all time despite the fact that no Star Wars movie has ever had any opening credits whatsoever, and Steven Spielberg was actually prevented from directing return of the Jedi specifically for that reason because it went against DGA rules. So I would recommend that this channel maybe start doing its research but I’ve been recommending that for years and you haven’t done it yet, so I don’t expect you to start anytime soon.
A guy with a character called Pee-Wee us obviously going to be caught doing that.
Soooo...basically, comedians are being "cancelled" for making jokes?!? This world has gone completely insane...god save the queen
Kramer calling the audience member a njgger a bunch of times is a joke?
It's the age old concept that good comedy punches up, not kicks down
Rip Gilbert Godfrey So is the voice actor
I've known about rosanne barr and gilbert but not the others
many folks have destroyed their careers however many of them do not double down on it by blaming others for how they react to it.
Kathy Griffin and Michael Richards did and that is why they're still ghosts in the industry.
Gilbert, Rocket and even Louis CK apologized for the lines being crossed but they also did not back down and defang themselves because of it either.
They balanced it better instead of being completely irresponsible and trying to think they cant do wrong and its the fault of others and not themselves.
THOSE comedians egos did themselves in.
what are you on about? Richards did apologize and admitted doing wrong.
Is Kathy griffin calling out after having knocked on the door? Girl, I don't want your cookies. They taste a certain way
I gotta say I think it's completely unacceptable that someone's career can be ruined like 20 years AFTER they said or did some inappropriate shit. Glass houses man. Who among us that remembers 20 years ago, DOESN'T have some inappropriate shit 20 years ago? It was a different time. We had different priorities. We used different words. Calling someone a "retard" was not necessarily a pejorative, that was an actual term used by medical professionals. A "faggot" was used as a pejorative, but also that's what they were called. Like using the word "bitch" to describe a female dog, well yes that's just what they're called, but it's also a pejorative against women. If you dug up some of the crap I texted on my old nokia from 20 years ago, hell yeah you'd find some dirt. Because it wasn't dirt at the time. Hell a cheeseburger becomes dirt after 20 years.
Gilbert did not destroy his career in the least. Poor choice for the list based on your video title.
Also, if you researched him you would know he is known for making jokes after every tragedy including 911.
I haven’t finished the video but I assume Norm will be on here with his OJ jokes if Gilbert made it.
did rogan pay you guys to leave him off the list?
Michael Richards just got lost in the sauce, Kramer fucking up is legendary
120% of ppl agreeing with comedians making dark jokes need to be cancelled are full on for free speech hilarious
what smells rotten and puts people to sleep
Roseanne's act
Well, who cares what Gottfried said? He's dead now, but he'll always be remembered for his comedy.
The more upsetting the better.
Making racist and homophobic comments is not "a bad comedy miss." They're not "risky" either. They're racist and homophobic.
It is properly best to separate the character from the actor. Like separating the art from the artist.
You need a part two and add Jussie Smollett
What happened to the narrators sound?
Micheal Richards is forgiven!! ❤he seems to be the most genuine person.
What cancelled Griffin for me was her reaction when it became clear her idea of joke was clearly huge mistake.
Not her tasteless stunt, it happens, all comedians cross some lines from time to time in attempt to test waters and figure out what works and what doesnt but if she just admitted it was disrespectful for many, and simply bad joke, it wouldn't have to be apology just mere acknowledgement of her misjudging the audience and general mood and having poor taste.
But no- she went on woe is me world tour, and apparently its still her main schtick even after all those years, and turned herself in victim of her own idea and her own action, and as is usual today she made it all about her age( while her target is like one whole generation older than she is) and her sex.
No, she did apologize and even cried at the press conference with Gloria Allred's daughter as her rep. But then they attacked her mercilessly, she was betrayed by friends (Cooper, etc.) and had few on her side. Finally she came back and said "fuck it" and took back her apology. The reaction was overkill and she was crucified.
@@SWLinPHX I dont think she really ever apologised, she made it about old white men in power trying to silence independent strong willed woman. thats not apology in my eyes, more like attempt to establish "im victim of sexism" narrative.
@@rehurekj Okay, you obviously didn't see the video or conference right? Don't take my word for it, look it up. She apologized TWICE in fact: first in a recorded video at her home immediately after the photo broke and then, when things got savage in the press conference, again as I already referenced with lawyer Lisa Bloom where she was in tears. The cancel culture requests got worse and worse and she was ostracized and virtually crucified for it, so then she rebuilt herself, went on tour outside the nation and yes, she rescinded her apology and referenced many rappers and others who had said and done worse with no repercussions. And of course Trump went on to do more and egregious things that actually affected the entire nation in measurable ways (trying to convince an official to rig votes, denying a valid election that even all his closest advisors knew was legit, encouraging insurrectionists and division (ego before country), refusing to return highly classified documents, etc. which was all AFTER Kathy's photo scandal) yet he seemed to get by with it for a long time. And Kathy paid a huge price for an admittedly tasteless photo that she said was at the end of a long shoot and they were trying to think of something shocking or that would gain attention. But again, no one defends the wisdom of that choice. She suffered disproportionately though for an instance of poor taste and judgement (and then, was ravaged by cancer losing her hair and then voice) but she is a survivor. What will Trump's repercussions be however? That I would agree is far more important.
BTW, I also think Roseanne received unfair repercussions, so this is not a partisan (Left vs. Right) issue.
As long as you dont come out as an outright bigot or a sexual predator, Hollywood's fair game.
Your Thumbnail said it all because I immediately thought of both of them and perfectly placed. Excellent list. Paul Reuben also a great inclusion. I thought Kathy Griffin’s backlash was an extreme overreaction. Roseanne’s comparison was harsher than an ape plus her comeback that she ‘thought the bitch was white’ made her comment look even worse. Lots of ‘dirt’ about her kept coming out
Found the ultra liberal.
Lmao, you think someone making a comment that's somewhat tangentially racial is worse than someone holding a mock of the President's severed head? Good lord you have some warped morality. Mean words? Noooooo!!!!!!!! Implications of violence? This is fine.

That was more of an organic "cancelling" because she sucks and nobody likes her. A little different than the completely manufactured cancellation of people who have opinions the leftist cult doesn't like.
Do you really consider her a comedian?
Not sure why Louis CK was cancelled. He asked the women involved and they all said yes ... in his apartment at 2am. If he had sex with those women rather than ask to masterbate. Would that have been more acceptable or would he have still been cancelled. People have weird fetishes. If you are not into that type of thing. Say no rather than say, "Sure ... why not" and then stick around for a few hours after he finishes.
