You could have bought a fluidmaster complete repair kit which it worked on my 3 Mansfield toilets🚽

Turning your water pipe wrench the other way (like you finally did in the later part of the video) will lock it down while turning. It's like trying to remove a nut with a socket that's spinning the opposite direction.

You could have just replaced the gasket by twisting off the top of the tower and removing the flush valve tube and replaced the red gasket with a new one without having to put on a whole new flush valve system.

Thanks.... Doing mine. Been in the house 1.5 million years. Its been a job. Had 2 cut bolts that hold the lid to the bottom with a dremel. A few curse words later and I got it apart. Hope the install goes smoother. Thanks for the vid.
