Clash of clans used to only give the benefit of making grinds shorter, no f2p heroes and units, and so was clash royale, just more chance at getting rarer cards and decreasing the grinds for people who pays for chests

"Chest tickets" are used for opening a chest after a match. It's the only way to open chests outside the pass and level unlock stuff.
