The hope is that the Supreme Court will leave the 1866 Civil Right Act alone. As Byron says, he is going to be alright. The true concern at this point is that the constitutional law will be left intact so we whom face discrimination in business and economic inclusion everyday, can have the law to fight from. This is bigger than Mr. Allen...it is showing how in large the black community has no wealth to pass down. We just see Black faces used as front men, for corporations, without any real power. Time for real change !

      Really??
Trump is busy promoting/appointing racist right wing judges into the supreme court and higher places of authority.
We are talking about white people who (like Trump) care nothing for truth justice equality or facts.
We are talking white people who's only interest above and beyond anything else is to keep America as white as possible.
In a fair and just legal system Comcast would be busy appeasing ALL the black owned companies by now because it is VERY clearly in the wrong.
But in this country where it took well over a year to call Trump racist after he called black countries "shitholes", Mexican immigrants murderers and rapists, Jews people who keep on renegotiating and changing business deals with the sole intention of maximising profit,
A country in which nearly half the white population can't admit that he is racist and would tell you that those are " just words badly spoken" but Trump's heart is somehow pure and in the right place.
Yet black people like Ilhan Omar can never share in the privilege of "badly spoken words but with pure intention" "let's not judge the heart"
She immediately gets labeled anti Semitic and terrorist with far fewer offensive words.
In this kind of America Comcast Knows it has a chance of winning.
Think of their audacity to bring up revolt and other black networks whom they are treating like shit.
It's because they know the system, they have uncles and cousins in the seats of power mate.
It will ultimately come down to who hears the case and maybe to how far Byron will take the fight and whether or not the entire black community and especially non racist whites are willing to support him.
Look at Trump mate. And all those who support his Lunacy.
White privileged racist/right wing people care about winning waaayy more than they will ever do about truth or justice.
And they have millions of supporters amongst the white poor.

Wow, Diddy really put it together! I heard Byron Allen mention how Diddy is affected by Comcast’s practices when it comes to black networks and he hopes but not asking others to speak up if they didn’t want to. He was prepared to be the only voice and still push through with his case but one Comcast went after civil rights, it became much more deeper than black owed companies not getting their share and I’m glad others are now speaking up. As Roland said, what good is a record label if the music is not hitting the right demographics that would actually listen to it. Your set to fail. Again good for Diddy and the others.
As Roland also mentioned, who came to the table with these black owed networks when negotiating their contracts, dis they demand that their networks be handled in a way that would get them the most viewership and not just be thankful for the opportunity. Maybe they didn’t know the games Comcast plays, others may have know exactly what they were getting and satisfied BUT as one network said, they still haven’t gotten what they were promised. Meaning they been bamboozled. I hope Byron Allen’s Cade goes all the way and some good for blacks comes out of this when it comes to this topic.

I’m white and a huge political junkie and studying law/policy as an undergrad and i haven’t seen any coverage of this anywhere else or heard anything about it, great coverage thank you. This needs to be brought up in the context of the rising resurgence of anti-monopoly sentiment, mostly with the sanders and warren wing of the dems, but also to a lesser extent in the Republican Party with people like senator Josh hawley and saagar enjeti of the rising CZcams channel. The specific legal issue here is a civil rights one but in terms of policy making more skepticism of anti-competitive consolidation and stronger requirements for black businesses being able to be competitive as a requirement for mergers is needed etc. , *and ultimately business practices like this should not be allowed* . Corporate media consolidation enabled by bill Clinton and the dems and Obama’s continuance of that fealty to big business has directly contributed to this.
Also interesting because as I see in the comments I’m not the only one surprised Diddy actually stood up for this, he deserves serious appreciation, because this illustrates how it’s very possible for super rich black ppl to run businesses and make money without actually gaining the substantive power to change anything in society. So diddy chose to stand up for this anyways and they certainly have a financial incentive about this but still the point is black ownership and wealth doesn’t necessarily translate to larger societal good, but it can. Important nuances
It’s unbelievable to me that they just had this dem debate in Tyler Perry’s studio and no issues around this were brought up by anyone. MSNBC is trash, and the fact they have black anchors and commentators doesn’t change that one bit.

Yacob the Hebrew Lol thanks for the welcome I really do like watching Roland for that reason though, it is like being in the real black room. It’s hard to get different perspectives because most black commentators I see work for Comcast and NBC! So they represent the kind of establishment version of black opinion and I don’t like or trust them mostly. They talk about police shootings and viral videos of racism but they don’t talk about anything that could threaten the interests of their huge corporate employers. I might take the check too but point is that’s why most people don’t see this kind of issue, and why independent media, black owned and otherwise is so important.

And MSNBC is trash too, they have black hosts and guests but they almost all lockstep support the worst establishment democrats like Clinton and Biden who are just as responsible for mass incarceration as republicans (if not more, Reagan vetoed one of Biden’s crime bills), and supported the corporate media consolidation in the 90s that led to comcast having this near monopoly power over distribution. This shows how being “moderate” and pro big business is inherently anti black and anti competitive.

Joyce Greene I don’t understand what you’re saying, why would Putin care about cable monopolies in the US ? Comcast became a behemoth that makes content and is the middleman that decides which content gets allowed to be distributed. That should be illegal. They got to this point through a series of mergers in the Clinton admin and under bush. People Voting for democrats and republicans in the pocket of big business is a big part of why this lawsuit is now happening. Obama was a bit better on this, still not great. We need to break up companies like this, and that’d make the economy better for workers and consumers generally, but it’d also give black business people a much better chance of actually competing based on merit rather than who has power to gatekeep

Mr Martin, once again, I want to thank you for your programming once again. As I’ve identified myself before, I’m a 61 year old white cis male and my pronouns are he/him. I escaped my racist family and environment by joining the USAF. I have been the victim of racism from three sides. Escaping a violent father who had literally pistol whipped me, I left Florida to finish high school in Ga. i was almost immediately ostracized as I started dating “a black girl.” She was from New Jersey and moved there about the same time I did. We never thought about we had different skin color. Neither of us ever cared about color. Our eyes worked, we saw color, Other things were far more important. Her voice sounded so close to Michael Jackson, we were his age back then. But she knew every “Motown” song I loved. Two songs had great meaning for me, Ben and Bill Withers song Lean on Me. My heart melted when she sang Lean On Me. Both man racial groups were extremely angry and took it out on me because our skin color did not match. When I attended a part of first grade and all of 4th grade, my Great Grandmother being Cherokee was an issue with some parents.
That is why I’m writing to you. Both black and white males together tried to completely extinguish every Native American tribe living between the Appalachians to the Rockys. White males took their first slaves in 1607, 12 years before African males and females were sold to white settlers in 1619.
However, First Nations Experience is the only national network here in the US. It is only available in 25 states and you must look hard to find it. FNX is available only in small pockets of 24 of those states. North Dakota is the 25th state and it is available state wide. If anyone ever reads this, and I doubt anyone ever will, please ask your local cable distributor to carry it. If you care about diversity, please watch some programming on every station mentioned on Mr. Martin’s show today. He cuts a powerful figure in the mold of pastors I’ve admired most in my lifetime. Personally, I think his show is part of my top five on all of CZcams.

I gave cable the finger years ago. It's a rip off. We were paying an arm and a leg for service that didn't work. I saw the cable guy at my uncle's house and took all the boxes & remotes to his van and told him to tell Charter to kiss my ass! I didn't even tell him who I was. I called Dish on my cell as I walked across the field back to my mom's house. That was in 2006.

I have internet through xfinity/comcast, never have changed my package and my bill keeps increasing. I started out paying $56 a month and now it's $92

I learned a lot watching this segment. I dropped Comcast years ago, b/c my monthly bill kept skyrocketing b/c they were illegally charging me for old cable boxes that I had turned in years prior, when I upgraded my equipment. Comcast was later sued for doing this on a massive scale to subscribers. When I first signed up for Comcast, BET was not part of the basic package and I challenged Comcast as to why numerous times. I had no idea there were a lot more minority networks that I couldn't find on my TV, because were only available on the top tier packages that I couldn't afford. For people who get upset when minorities want to have something that is solely their own, this is a perfect example as to why.

Yes!!! Speak the truth very loudly my people!!! This country has broke every promise they made to us as a people to to succeed. I'm rooting for Bryon Allen's lawsuit. We will see if the Supreme Court will act accordingly to the law that was made in 1866.
