  • After getting their pool dive skills in order, the basecampers head to the south side of the island for their first scuba dive in open waters. They visit the Prince Albert Wreck, a freighter that was intentionally sunk in 1987. Having learned how to clear your mask underwater in the pool, they discover that it's quite more intense when 18 m deep in the ocean! Check the out the video to see if they braved their fears and whether or not they fell into scuba diving panic. Reef protection and conservation is serious in the Roatán marine park.
A healthy reef is essential in keeping a high quality marine life so that fisherman can continue to eat and tourists can continue to see the beauty of the second largest reef in the world.

Diving in stormy weather for your first ever dive?! Seems a bit crazy.
Too bad they didn't go to the reef in the end though, that would have been cool to see.

inthefade We would've loved to go to the reef as well, but time and weather constraints meant we couldn't :( We'll have to go again!

All of you needed more time in the pool in order to gain confidence.

+Mike Massino Thanks for the tip! But we felt ready and we had plenty of time in the pool! See episode #1: czcams.com/video/kyVEJxrqFHg/video.html
Really, the ocean is just different than the pool! It's so magical but it could get a bit stressful the first time that you dive in! But we're now all hook since that experience :-)

HI Pavan, We're travel guide under the format of a video series. So the logos at the end are the people who sponsor us doing those trips! As an example, if you liked our series in Honduras - you can go download the full travel guide in PDF right here: www.travelbasecamp.com/travel-guides/honduras/roatan
I hope this help to understand what we're doing :)
