  • Day 3 and 4 were a blur... the driving was not so bad considering the traffic, the small dent in the tailgate, trailer breaks not working 20% of the time and we lost our red buckets...
    We are here looking for next adventure... the largest RV Show in USA...

    A common issue with the brakes on these campers is:
    1 - the trailer brake wires connect on the drivers side brakes and then the wires run into the axle tubes across to the other side and connect to the others brake on that axle.
    2 - we have all heard aid wire chaffing, well that’s what is going on.
    3 - easy fix. Run mew wire from one side to the other side of each axle. Zip-tie it to this backside of the axle, no moving wires, no wire chaffing. Make you wiring connection at each brake hub same as factory.
    You will never have that problem again.

    Y’all need some walkie talkies for communications while checking lights, backing/parking etc. And I hate driving through Atlanta - the x85 bypass is almost always easier. Sonny’s, meh. It’s a chain. And please do some videos of eating at restaurants, cooking both indoors and out, recipes, sights, activities and more.
    I’d slow down, because your rv tires are probably not rated for more than 65 mph. Me, I like to hold it to 60 or lower. It’s also very helpful on fuel mileage.
    Flying J usually has an rv lane. Get some RV Snap Pads, they will help on hot asphalt and soft soil when leveling.

    So we things I’ve learned in 2 1/2 years I’ve been pulling a trailer. Check off everything you need to do when hooking up, then walk around your rig again to double check everything. 65 Mph is probably the fastest you need to go. If Waze says it will take 3hrs to get to your destination....add an hour or more.
    You two are fun and I’ve enjoyed you being able to laugh at your self. Most of my travels are solo, and finding gas to fill up my truck while pulling a 30’ trailer is a challenge!

    Not sure if someone already touched on this but I had the same break issue with my RAM. There ended up being water that had gotten into my wiring harness. I was able to unplug the connector that splits the harness from the 7pin on your bumper to the plug in your bed. When I did a good amount of water poured out. I let it dry out and filled each connector with dielectric grease. No problems since. Hope this helps if you're still chasing this ghost

    You guys need a pair of walkie-talkie's for communicating while doing your checks...better then cell phones if you happen to be in an area with no cell coverage. To test your brakes...just do a "tug test" once stopped (squeeze gain slider) and you will know immediately if the trailer brakes are activated.

  • @debbiewilson4443
    @debbiewilson4443 Před 3 lety

    I am so enjoying your videos and that was some pretty good backing up, whether newbie or not! We have a Ram and when we took our 5th wheel to be inspected, I didn't like how much it was "chucking" and the truck kept showing that trailer brake disconnect warning, too. Guys at the trailer shop that did the inspection showed hubby where the plug in located in the truck was a bit corroded. He bought a $7 part, installed it himself and problem solved. The bad chucking was from when the truck (350 HD Diesel 4x4 dually) would stop and the trailer wouldn't quite stop when it was expected to and would "push" against the hitch, as the truck stopped. SO glad we found that out before we hit the road to the Gulf Coast. And as for running out of diesel, that is BADDDDDD !!! Looking forward to your future videos.

    Todd, the issue you are having with the brakes is a loose pin in on your 7 - way in the bed of the truck, that is why it keeps coming and going for the trailer brakes. The lights are not as sensitive of a connection but the signal to your electric brakes are. It should fit nice and snug. Hope this helps you out and hope to meet you guys. Enjoying your adventure. You’ve got great chemistry and it shows. A suggestion if I may? Invest in a good pair of walkie-talkies. Congratulations on the 1000 subs. Enjoy your travels, stay safe, stay well.

    You are so funny. I know I said that on your other video but because you’re not a professional this is so much more entertaining. I feel bad for all your bad luck. But it can only go get better with time. Aloha PS I wish we had peaches here in Hawaii I love them.
