I’ve been growing my hair out since June of 2021 and my hair is literally in the free form stage where it almost looks like old little tree branches. I’ve barely sponged my hair even when I had the sponge 😂. Literally all you do is just occasionally wash it and like he said let it dry on its own and they will ‘freely form’ 😂 nah but that’s literally it
How long did it take to get the starter locs

Different products come out each year that could make them easier to get
What I did was get waves and maintain them until my hair was at a 2 or 3 then used the hair sponge. It gave me curls when nothing else was working. Now I were a wave cap every night to define the curls and use the sponge. I'm not washing my hair until it locs.
Facts I be feeling now I be over washing my hair so I’m cutting back cause I have 4 dry coarse Afro hair

My hair mad Curley when I’m ash it it don’t make it Loc it start to loc when it’s dry so really just a spray bottle correct ?
I’m not sure what kind of hair mine is considered but I’m going for the free form journey. How often can I get my hair wet? Should I wear a shower cap? Will my hair loc if I just let it grow or will I just have a fro?

when you say loc up on its own, do you have to let it dry naturally after u wash ur hair OR do u dry ur hair with a towel or dryer like a lot of ppl?

How is my hair supposed to lock if when I get a retwist the lady combs my hair out? Also do my locs get thicker over time? ( I have starter locks)
Why does she comb it out? Ik retwist supposed to use comb to twist roots but tell her to not comb it out simple
I’m mainly tryna know how to make it thicker lol
On retwists she combs out the roots so that the NEW hair you have locks up with the rest, and so you can see the scalp and it looks neater but when she does it tell her to two strand twist thats the fastest way to make it thicker and make it mature and if its too thick take it out in 1 month cuz two strand twist are like braids for dreads
I started my free forms back in 08 and went to traditional locks then to flats , then i went bald in the middle and cut them off. R.I.P to my hair 08-2020 😢.

Honestly any length you can start free-form it will lock up faster with a mini fro or low haircut it can lock up depending up to the hair type u started at a low fade and I got the coils forming it took me 6 months but worth it

You’re probably washing it too frequently, if you have 4C hair type you should wash your hair less to allow your hair to lock up.

If your curls are too loose then no but if you have really tight curls then you can manage with locking gel and a sponge

Only thing i can forsure say that work is locking gel and beeswax, beeswax really help curly hair lock and stay locked if you wash your hair every week(once). But if you don’t got curly nigga hair any gel can work for regular nigga hair as long it’s for locking hair.
