I love the ability to be able to add to it and change it around to fit different boats and really like the adjustable dock height without having to be in the water.
Stan, the only thing I could see to improve on the dock is to add a trailer attachment on end to pull out in winter time with a tractor or truck to pull out of water
I have a Hewitt roll a dock that is at least 30 years old. It is 48 feet with a 4x8 L section. I take it in and out by myself with my compact tractor. I am 71 years old.
Having started hand building docks with angle iron and 500gal oil tanks 40 years ago with my father for tidal applications pretty amazing to see the progress industry has made
hey Stan. I work for WaveArmor, a company specializing in foam filled floating docks (except I work directly in NJ) . they are native to Minnesota. and those docks CAN freeze over. give em a look!
The way the chair connects to rails swiveling is best prt. So u need every 12" or so arch section u hook to railings Then it just put streach on clear rain covers on. use tinted rain covers in FL.
Those etra walk out raise or lower full 1ft up or down can dock higher boats w/tiny boats higher section 2nd or 3rd walk boards. Nice but really shine as walk out boards over wet & mud up over ground.
Last year I bought a Twin Bay dock. It was between Twin Bay or Floe. The local dock installers told me they preferred the Twin Bay. I figured if they install docks for a living and think the Twin Bay is easier they’re probably correct. I’d be happy with either one though.
very impressive and versatile, is it secured to the bank in anyway to prevent if falling in deeper ? or boats going past creating bow waves and wash that will make it move ?
I imagine these cost a few penny's, but I do know the heavier hand built docks once it comes to the galvanized hardware the cost becomes astronomical but that type cant be moved for the ice but we use ours in a river and holds quite well even for log strikes for the most part.
That's so cool I like that dock. I am betting with that dock if you want you can put grab poll's if you are a older. The only thing I did not see is the tie downs for the boats an bumper garde's I will have to go look at there website wow I went to their site they have every thing am more I would say if you ever need or looking for a new dock I would say get it from this CO.
Hey just saw you on Wranglerstar’s channel!! How did y’all link up to go off-roading, looked like a sweet spot??!! Will you be uploading a video with him soon???
We have a dock from Remer Ironworks. It's a great roll in system. The wheels are places at the center of gravity so it balances and you can crank it up and down from the top and set it without ever getting in the water. Untill this floe dock you show here I've not seen another roll in dock I liked as well. This floe system looks pretty darn sweet. It may actually be better...🤔
If the gear rod can hve 2 pipes or rods reversible so that way u r only striping gearing rod on 1 side not both sids bc only drilling on 1 side not the reverse side redundancy b4 u hve to use the other 1/2 of the rod, 2 or 4 tries b4 u need new 1/2 & 1/2 4 -up rods. Use drill on low speed, u want color zones 4 diff height 4 diff colors.
If lower section was bent from 1 corner to width straight straight side u hve a spring middle support(1 from each side bent meeting at middle) or 2 bent center supports that weld or screw to side &side u brace connect too.
I own a dock installing company in West Central MN and we have found that the lift jacks in the legs on Floes are prone to breaking or shifting where you can't fit a socket around the nut in the hole of the decking. About $500 to fix one Flow leg unless you solve yourself, one reason the bolt and wrench style aluminum roll-ins sectionals are more reliable!
@@timr86868 never reached out to Floe about it, usually the customer just has us put a block under it and level the rest of the dock off the broken leg's height. Gets tricky when more than one breaks. Often it's probably the dock owner that had tried to adjust it themselves and use an impact driver but I think installation and removal each year is hard on the mechanism somehow. One thing about the Floes is that with the adjustment being inside the leg you don't have poles sticking up past the dock, which is a look alot of people like!
Hving 4 corner holes u can just lift up the walk prt of dock & still hve a dock to walk on while resurfacing or reairing the top section is a big deal, So u just decide if u want to pin the square the corner post any of 6-12inch ht 2"per pin hole so u custom dock ht main way then 2" holes raise per corner post up to 12" to match up w/what u r docking next to pier, best fit. If u need an extra ft higher u need a 3rd deck flat section, again even special plastic or sticker wood will take the most wear.
Floe Dock sections don't have 4 corner holes unless you asked them to custom build one. They have 2 wheels at the end that attach into the hooks "quick connects" from previous section.
U just connect on the 4 square corner post, only u need sheet metal slide on under side of walk blanks, & when not over the dock u need a way feet to hold & level the walk boards, & bc super easy to pull or move u just pull lock pins to cut the grass if u need the full walk board/ top deck board from back door to dock no gravel path down yet.
Seems like a floating dock would be better guess your pond or lake level does not change as much as lakes down south. Maybe have floats and set of wheels at end to aid in pulling out💡
A General Contractors license gives you the ability to do everything you’ve done on your channel in terms of type of work? Ex: Pool removals, dock upgrades, etc etc It must be hard to retain all this knowledge over so many crafts.
If u bar want to truck type ladder rack u need straight roof not an arch so u can mount smaller boats on top, or a actual ladder stable even putting feet in lake murky muddy bottom. U need 4 actual feet w/2 fold angle out ft so 4 is 8 legs The 2 extra legs u pull out just need flat bottom base not feet, both sides. In side base legs & the must twist not for standing on but can. As the base board ft twist it helds lock the base, double as thick as normal step so ladder doesn't float away. Floating in water fine just not on top floating away but ft base anchoring it but top 1o ft floating so u can find it.
3 tracks beats 2 & no matter how great the system is bc it is aluminum u need redundance bc repair aluminum not easy, if that means hve 2 tracks bottom 1 tract top so u hve prt in water double & stronger engineered that is way to go. Under water repairing welding even harder. Best way to hve redundancy is being able to take an 8ft section not giant 16ft section out to swap it broken out. If bracket can reach from top to inner section in water or top down to outer section in water redundancy w/just lame 2 section not even 3 seure but better.
they make a great dock (I own 100+ feet of it) but as you can see multiple times (see 6:00 OR 11:54 timestamps) in the video, the top paint scratches off rather easily, the touchup paint is a mess to deal with and looks terrible. My guess is they gave Dirt Monkey a free demo dock for the advertising....Floe's customer service is top notch though!
Now you got a new doc you can do some magnet fishing and find the wrenches invite one of those magnet fishing CZcamsrs to come over and find them for you
Stan how much are you selling your used dock for I have a floating raft that has worked good for years with a rope on it even with tons of ice in Connecticut
If you don’t leave them out all year they will probably last …not sure people want to sit with their butt hanging off the dock might not be good to kids or older people
good to see the relationship between you and floe still going strong. Another great video!
Nice to see Stan laughing and smiling.
Don is a legit man after the first encounter. I'm glad you have a good relationship!
4:16 I really like the card idea, makes OEM stock keeping easier too
I don't remember what I was putting together anymore, but I've seen the card system once before... SOOO much simpler to work with! Brilliant!!!!!👋👌👍
Perfect timing, Thanks for the show and tell.
What a difference from that first meeting. Very cool
Another great video Stan!
This floe stuff looks to be very well made and even more well thought out. You can see the care to detail in the design.
Looks like a great dock
Love this! Looks like good quality!

This can be a great method. It’s important to attach ropes or straps to the side frame and not the end frame.

Nope, just that the wheels fill up with water and act as anchors.

What did Floe say about it when you contacted them? Sounds like a design flaw, curious how they handle themselves from that aspect.
