The song is named Farewell because that's what the completionists will say after trying to beat every level without dying once.
As someone who likes to get every collectable, this level is my worst nightmare

I really liked Celeste so I decided I wanted to try and 100% it until I found out about the golden berry for this level. I might see how far I can get, but I don't think I'll ever 100% the game

Celeste already had a special place in my heart by the time Farewell came around, as many will understand, but Farewell dropping a couple months after a dear friend passed away and helping me cope with lingering grief elevated it to a piece of media I'll never stop talking about.
I've been playing games for like, 25 years now and I have rarely seen gameplay, music and narrative woven so carefully together as they were with Farewell. I still tear up whenever I hear this track in particular.

After beating Chapter 9, I can say that this song (as great as it is) gave me my anxiety back
Lena Raine is genuinely one of my favorite composers ever, her works are always just absolutely incredible both a surface level and once you take a closer look at them. This song is obviously a banger, but also, the use of leitmotifs in the piece is absolutely genius
Celeste is very near and dear to my heart for helping me through a tough part of my life. It has a great story with a wonderful message that taught me about perseverance and self love.
I can't say that I had an equally good experience with Chapter 9. I know that the level would be hard, but I got lost in the order of levels to gain player experience. Not to mention I was unaware of how long it would be. But the individual story is still touching despite it's really difficult nature.
At the end of January, I want to not only play Chapter 9 once more, but to finally get the Moon Berry. It was originally going to be for celebrating Celeste's 5th anniversary, but recently my great grandmother passed away at the age of 99.
So I dedicate my run to Farewell and acquiring the Moon Berry to Grammy, who kicks butt, very witty and was family to all friends and family. When I got through the Moon Berry room, I brought my Switch to my dad so we can both celebrate the occasion. I can tell he was touched, even though he knows little about Celeste, he was proud that I tackled the challenges of this game.
My opinion slightly changed about Farewell now knowing it's length of the chapter. (Comb room is still a pain though). I wish I can try it again the first time with the knowledge of the larger levels to save me from the anxiety. But as Badeline said, "We cannot go back to the way things were." All we can do it keep going.
Remember that you are always loved, Jerod and Chat, and thanks for being there for when I needed it most.
Rest in Peace, Grammy.

It's always a treat seeing Jerod suddenly pull out a Celeste song. Celeste's sound is always so dynamic and beautiful, and Farewell is no exception, I love how it develops over the course of its section. And due to how ambient Celeste's songs can be, since they have to last over the span of many screens, your percussion adds a lot Jerod!

edit: i have beaten farewell after almost 20 hours and 6662 deaths, it was absolutely worth it

If you've not heard the soundtrack to Celeste at all, I really recommend it. It's such a fantastic album.
Thats sounds so organic actually. Usually the drums just a lil bit but out of place, there on the other hand it feels like it was intended in the first place.
My favorite remains Reach for the Summit, but this one is incredible too.
Summit and the final room of Farewell are probably tied for first for me, and the Temple B is a _very_ close third place.
The beat drop at 5:36 is just SO crispy

Honestly this hits so hard and i love farewell even though it took me over 4k death and 6 total months hiatus between sections of the level, i loved farewell and celeste so much as a year after i beat farewell ive put another 800 hours of playtine in modded celeste and still going
Celeste will always have a place in my heart as being the best game ive ever played

You can’t slightly mash buttons a little bit, with max assists you can become invincible and get infinite dashes, you can just fly through every spike and if you click often enough to not fall to the void you’ll beat it
I literally beat Farewell yesterday, now im trying the hard challenge that would probably be spoilers to tell anyone about. Took me about 11 hours and 3359 deaths.
Also, hearing you jam out during the last part of the chapter 3's OST would be fun ;)

I got celeste for free in 2019. Now in 2023 i have completed the game like 20 times and has changed my life. Even to the point to where listening the soundtrack gives me pause and happiness when im stressed. Thank you EOKG team for making my life a million times more resonable. Also figuring out my gender idenity then replaying the game gave me more reaqon to enjoy the game.
