    Pure Morning lyrics:
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
A friend with weed is better
A friend with breasts and all the rest
A friend who's dressed in leather
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
A friend who'll tease is better
Our thoughts compressed, which makes us blessed
    And makes for stormy weather
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
    My Japanese is better
And when she's pressed, she will undress
    And then she's boxing clever
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
A friend who bleeds is better
My friend confessed she passed the test
    And we will never sever
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
A friend who'll tease is better
Our thoughts compressed, which makes us blessed
    And makes for stormy weather
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
A friend who bleeds is better
My friend confessed she passed the test
    And we will never sever,
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Day's dawning, skin's crawling
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    Pure morning
    A friend in need's a friend indeed
    My Japanese is better
And when she's pressed, she will undress
    And then she's boxing clever
    A friend in need's a friend indeed

*"its about that time of the day when the sun's coming up and you're coming down and everybody else is getting ready to go to work and you're feeling incredibly dislocated from the rest of the world; and all you really want is for a friend to be there to put their arms around you and help you ease into sleep."* - Brian Molko about this song.
goddamn i don't know why but i find this song very relaxing, like its okay to be an outsider

This brings back memories. Great performance. I was 16 years old at the time, and I stayed up to watch Placebo on Conan and tape this on VHS. I wish I could've seen them live on this tour. I wanted to badly, but my parents wouldn't let me go down to the city. I didn't get to see them live until 2001, at Irving Plaza right after I finished my freshman year in college. Good times. Anyway, Brian looks fucking amazing here. Wow.

Same here - I was 14 and stayed up to watch and it stuck with me all these years. I also remember thinking he looked like Joaquin Phoenix in 8mm and being entranced by that.

I actually saw them perform live in Philadelphia this same night. It was a co-headlining tour with Stabbing Westward and an opening band called Flick (they were very young and from, I believe, Oklahoma), so it was already a longer show with there being two bands playing full sets. Placebo was in NYC doing Conan, so it got LATE before they made it to Philly and got on stage (it was after midnight- and I was so beaten up already from hanging on to that front row barrier during a Stabbing Westward set- I was bruised and bleeding in my platform heels- teenagers... Lol). We hung out to meet them afterwards (my friend and I had done the same thing a few days earlier in NJ, and we were SO EXCITED that they remembered meeting us- we were 16, it was the highlight of our lives at that point)... I want to say that it was about 3:30am when we left. It was a devastating night- we took pictures with each of the guys, and my film got exposed on the way home!! This was 1999...we used film. But it's still such a fun memory. 21 years later, and I feel like I appreciate this band on a much deeper level than I could at 16. They're still my favorite, by far. Now let's get a new album! And a coronavirus vaccine so they can make it back to the States! 💜

Honestly....guys like Brian Molko...or Matty Healy...or Andrew VanWyngarden...along with plenty of others...make me realize that while I am heterosexual, I'm definitely *_aesthetically_* bisexual. Androgyny has always been incredibly attractive to me. I've never felt the desire to have sex with a guy...but there are plenty of guys I've found physically stunning to look at. Attraction, sexual or aesthetic, isn't exactly something you can control, is it?
It must be interesting to be Brian Molko.....knowing that you're constantly making straight men downright confused.

There is still some good rap around too. If you dig around in the underground hip-hop scene there are more meaningful rappers that rap about issues with goverment and the youth and gun crime Like hopsin and immortal technique. But I have to admit that mumble auto-tune rap shit gets on my nerves.

The Bass VI isn't a baritone. It's just a longer, deeper guitar, E-to-e tuning, albeit a bit shorter than a regular E-G four-string bass. Baritones have different dimensions (I think), but more importantly they're tuned B-b, A-a, and things like that.

The bass player (on the right) is playing a Fender bass VI, here. It's a kind of weird hybrid of an electric bass and guitar. Essentially it's a 6-string bass but I think it's typically been played in a way that's more akin to a guitar than a bass. Quite a unique sound.

He was very mechanical in his performance later that night in Philly as well. He stared at the floor the whole time and didn't engage with the audience at all. Bad night, maybe. Or maybe he was so anxious performing on Conan that he was just exhausted by the time they made it to Philly. You know, that awful adrenaline crash after you've been extremely anxious?
