- Here we are for the third tutorial about MS-20.
This time I'll show you how to create a pretty wicked Drum Kit!
I will also use some of the techniques showed in the previous videos ;-)

this drum is seriously my favorite drum sounds
For those not quite getting the same sound his filter is different. here's what i did with my mini
HPF 6.1
HPF PEAK 7.9
LPF 0.9
LPF PEAK 8.8
CFM MG/T.EXT 8.2
CFM EG2/EXT 8.5
EG1 Attack 0.9
EG2 Attack 2
ESP Signal Lvl 9

I've learned a lot from your channel! I'm using the MS-20 for crafting drum samples more and more. So easy to just sample them into the MPC straight off the synth.

However, ive tried this patch on my MS20 Mini but the result was so much different than this. Sounds like crap on my end. I think this is due to the difference between mini and fs

This is awesome! Thanks for the tutorial! I assume you’re using a high-pass filter on the stereo delay to make it repeat the higher frequencies more than (or exclusively to) the lower frequencies…?

the high end filter cutoff on the ms20 ext signal processor BPF is 5kHz, this guys one sounds like it goes a lot higher

Dude you've shown me more in 15 minutes worth of videos than I have in hours of reading and watching other bullshit tutorials.
When I plug in the second patch cable though, the "snare" part doesn't work anymore.. all the settings are the same as yours though so I don't understand! I need to remove the second patch cable to make the right side of the keyboard sound properly, but then I lose the kick on the left side. It's either one or the other. Do you know why? (I'm quite new to this :))
Can it be used as a midi controller, are all the faders and rotary knobs assignable?
Why my snare sounds so quite and when I tweak HPF up there would be some high pitch sound (probably osc leaks?)
What are you plugging the esp into main mixer? What are you actually plugging it into??
What's the difference between 'signal out' and headphones out ?

i can't do this om my ms20 mini. If hear the snare, the kick is almost gone. If I hear the kick, the snare is a resonance bleep. Is it because the mini has the other filter?
Why not take esp out --- >into ext .signa in for some feedback ?

Has anyone tried this with the MS-20 mini? The "snare" doesn't sound the same way no matter how I try to tweak this.
I am trying it right now with my MS20 mini.. the snare does NO JUSTICE to the sound of this video. I am very upset about that :/
John Kossin probably the filter. This looks like the DIY ms-20 that came with two different filters. The mini cam with the original ms-20 filter.
Håkon Lunde I got fairly close, without using the distortion trick, you need to back off the LPF peak to be able to hear the snare. But with distortion its fine. Just match all his settings excactly. BTW, the kick sounds awsome on my mini.
Probably different filter adjustment (inside) may be your problem.

My signal out/Phone/ESP don't work !! Maybe because it's the legacy controller MS20 and not the MS20 Mini...Help please ;)
same patches same settings but the snare has an incredibly annoying high frequency pitch that I can’t figure out how to get rid of
I found on mine that the hi pass peak to be turned down a bit
when i follow the vid, i get no snare sound. as soon as i have the kick(wich sounds exectly like the one in the vid), the noise is gone in my upper note.. is my korg broken? :p

Io per le percussioni uso il Nord Drum ma vedo il Korg ms 20 anche con le percussioni non e' per niente male. io suono da pochi anni ma vedo che l'analogico picchia molto piu' del digitale.

Doesn't sound half as good with the Legacy Edition :-(
If you want the sound at 1min you could try to set the "mg/t.ext" to 8.5, the "EG2/EXT" to 7.5 and the attack time around 1.5. Or just play around with it, they are not the same as original MS20, what is to be expected off course ;)
