    What makes Mother Gothel an amazing villain is how realistic she is. While Frollo uses power and manipulation to control Quasimodo, Gothel uses gaslighting and psychological abuse by acting like a "caring" mother. Just look at how guilty Rapunzel feels once she steps out of the tower.

    It's funny how "Wreck-it Ralph" made my faith in Disney's ability to make good CGI films grow and made me more open minded to being excited for them, and "Ralph Breaks the Internet" made my faith in their capability go down again. "Wreck it Ralph" was fun to watch, but "Ralph Breaks the Internet" felt like a chore to get through. Granted "Encanto" was a breath of fresh air from the stuffy films that came between it and "Ralph Breaks the Internet", but then....."Strange World" happened, and as Emile said in Ratatouille, "You lost me again".
    Hopefully "Wish" will be a good one.

      Wreck it Ralph had a better story. There was conflict with each of the main characters. Ralph wanted to win a medal but was told that bad guys don't win medals, Felix wanted to find Ralph and bring him back to his game before it went out of order, Calhoun trying to destroy all cybugs before they take over every game in the arcade & Vanellope wanting to race but was told that she couldn't because she was a glitch.
      Ralph Breaks the Internet was just Disney fanservice. Mainly because of the Princesses.

    I remember when encanto came out everyone was saying it felt like a “new era” for them because encanto did its storytelling so differently. Such a shame Strange world was the movie after and it stuck to the generic story plot and didn’t try anything new or innovative like with encanto. Also I love that most of the female singers are lower range altos and not sopranos it was refreshing to see. With the songs I also like how they feel more theatrical and almost live performances with little editing to the raw vocals in songs like mirabels want song it really emphasizes the characters turmoil.

      I wasn't a fan of how "Encanto" told it's side stories, tbh. Isabela, Luisa, and Dolores didn't get enough screentime for their arcs to feel impactful for me--plus I wish the way Isabela and Luisa's arcs were presented were switched. It's apparent early on that Isabela is unhappy and it builds up, while Luisa doesn't show stress until seconds before "Surface Pressure." I wish Isabela's unhappiness was a twist and Luisa's stress builds up.

    It's funny how so many creators complain about Disney's contemporary mediocrity, but praise or have affection for Frozen, which started the sequence of mediocre films full of plot holes, poorly developed characters and poorly handled (if not biased) messages that, because of Marketing, were placed as movies of quality. Frozen has always been lame. Even the character designs leave something to be desired. It was rushed from a creative standpoint, but not from a production standpoint; they had the same amount of time as a usual film. The issue was that they had a lot of ambition and pressure to top themselves that Jennifer wanted to make something complex and hadn't ironed out the details--plus early screenings made her have to do extensive rewrite.
      Considering all this, along with the fact that a later release date would've affected sales due to COVID and better movie competition, they did pretty well, in my eyes--though I do agree it had it's flaws.

      I disagree. I think 3D is equally capable of expressiveness as 2D animation; it's just that squash and stretch is more difficult in 3D.
      But, more to the point, what we *need* is more variety. Do I adore how Spider-Verse looks? Of course I do. Everyone does. But if every movie looked like that, then it'd be boring. Stories about Pele and Maui are some of the earliest and only things I remember him telling me. It made me develop a great love for world mythology and respect for your culture. This also makes Anna realize she rushed into marrying someone who could be so harsh and potentially abusive causing her to dump him in the same way.

      Honestly, that's a reason to rank it higher. Disney not so subtly exposes themselves via their animated films and villains. It's relatable and refreshing to have the film industry be a catalyst for our main characters. It's also not so subtly including Miley Cyrus as the ultimate downfall of female acting talent for them. By the end of this film, her character almost dies filming a scene. It's a commentary on how much Disney had worked her to death until she finally broke free and became her own performer. Coincidence, I think not. It also details how far the film industry is willing to go for perfection in a particular craft.

    As a kid who grew up really loving dinosaur, I mainly loved it for the realism of dinosaurs and having a general storyline with them being more expressive n with personalities. I loved land before time, but the realism scratched an itch in my kid brain. Just my two cents from some of the rare few who liked it as a kid, I def can see how generic it is to others. also imo moana has what i think to be the most beautiful moment in cinema, the moment where te ka is crawling toward moana and moana is singing to her, and the song itself... it just makes me feel so much, despite not much happening at that moment, and yet everything happening at that moment.

      Even a new dinosaur story with different species in a beautiful realistic looking environment would be awesome, and the animals look accurate according to current paleontological knowledge, and if it was animated in the Rextooth Studios style it would look beautiful, akin to a comic book style which is akin to movies like Into the Spider-verse, Across the Spider-verse, etc. while not looking absolutely realistic, there’s still ways to make the environment look fairly realistic, imagine a story about the last dinosaurs of North America only the story doesn’t end with a cliche asteroid, but a peaceful ending, or ending with some kind of triumph for the main character or characters. Animals like T. Rex, Dakotaraptor, Quetzalcoatlus, Alamosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Struthiomimus, Pachycephalosaurus, Thescelosaurus are some of the species I would personally want to see in the film. Those are just my top ten favorites from that particular area and time period.

    I just hope that in the Shrek 5 movie, once Disney buys DreamWorks, all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies appear, especially all the characters from Rise of the Guardians movie, from Frozen movies, from How to Train Your Dragon movies, from Brave movie, from Tangled movie, from Moana movie, from Raya and the Last Dragon movie, from Encanto movie and the most important character in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, and thus, they will be the new main characters of the Shrek 5 movie so that they help Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others to defeat Rumpelstiltskin, Death and all the Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, as the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Drizella Tremaine, Maleficent, Marina del Rey, Ursula, Gaston, Forte, Jafar, Sa'luk, Governor Ratcliffe, Shan Yu, Doctor Facilier, Mother Gothel, Zhan Tiri, Te Kā, Tamatoa, the Red Death, Drago Bludvist, Grimmel the Grisly, Mor'du, Prince Hans, Pitch Black, the Druun, the Soldiers and Morgana, and to prevent Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks from ruling and destroying the kingdom of Princess Fiona and King Artie called Far Far Away, Shrek along with his wife named Princess Fiona will need help from their new friends which are the Official Disney Princes and Princesses, as Prince Florian, Princess Snow White, Prince Charming, Princess Cinderella, Prince Philip, Princess Aurora, Prince Eric, Princess Ariel, Prince Adam, Princess Belle, Prince Aladdín, Princess Jasmine, Prince John Smith, Princess Pocahontas, Prince Li Shang, Princess Fa Mulán, Prince Naveen, Princess Tiana, Prince Flynn Rider, Princess Rapunzel, Maui, Queen Moana Waialiki, Hiccup Haddock, Princess Mérida, Kristoff Bjorgman, Queen Anna, Jack Frost, Princess Elsa, Princess Raya, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Anastasia Tremaine and Melody, although in reality, Melody is the first and only that she is not a true Official Disney Princess along with Anastasia Tremaine, because Anastasia Tremaine is not born of royalty, while, Melody made her debut in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea and it is also because she is the first and only daughter of an Official Disney Princess, but Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others also need Anastasia Tremaine and Melody's help to protect and save their kingdom called Far Far Away away from Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, because Anastasia Tremaine is now a good person, while, Melody is the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the death of Queen Lillian, because since her husband named King Harold passed away in the Shrek 3 movie, she has felt heartbroken and that caused his own death in his kingdom called Far Far Away, and all the inhabitants of Princess Fiona and King Artie's kingdom called Far Far Away are saddened by the death of Queen Lillian, because now she is with her husband named King Harold in heaven, and now they have lost their queen, that means now the kingdom of Far Far Away needs a new queen and King Artie said that his love interest, girlfriend, fiancée and former classmate from Worcestershire school called Princess Guinevere would be the one to be the new Queen of Far Far Away, so King Artie decided to return to his old school called Worcestershire along with Shrek, with his older cousin Princess Fiona, with Donkey, with Dragon, with Puss in Boots, with Kitty Softpaws, with Perrito, with the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, with the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and with the others to meet again with their friends from their school who are actually Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany and their love interest, girlfriend and fiancée Princess Guinevere to take them back to their kingdom called Far Far Away, and in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the romance of all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies, especially the romance of Maui and Queen Moana Waialiki, the romance of Hiccup Haddock and Princess Mérida, the romance of Jack Frost and Princess Elsa, the romance of Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany and the romance of King Artie and Princess Guinevere, because I think in the Shrek 5 movie, Maui will be Queen Moana Waialiki's love interest, boyfriend and fiancé, while Hiccup Haddock will be Princess Mérida's love interest and boyfriend, Princess Tiffany will be Prince Lancelot's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée and Princess Guinevere will be King Artie's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée, because Queen Moana Waialiki is going to fall in love with Maui, Princess Mérida is going to fall in love Hiccup Haddock, Princess Tiffany is going to fall in love with Prince Lancelot and Princess Guinevere is going to fall in love with King Artie, but they don't know how to tell them their feelings towards them and neither how to win their hearts, because every time Queen Moana Waialiki gets too close to Maui when it comes to true love, she gets very nervous with him, while which in the case of Princess Mérida is also the same, because whenever Princess Mérida gets too close to Hiccup Haddock when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous with him, in the case of Princess Tiffany it is also the same, because whenever Princess Tiffany gets too close to Prince Lancelot when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, and in the case of Princess Guinevere too, because every time Princess Guinevere gets too close to King Artie when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, but luckily for them, Princess Fiona will help Queen Moana Waialiki to win the heart of Maui, also Princess Mérida to win the heart of Hiccup Haddock, also Princess Tiffany to win the heart of Prince Lancelot and also Princess Guinevere to win the heart of King Artie, and I also want that in the Shrek movie 5, Jack Frost will be Princess Elsa's love interest and boyfriend, because Jack Frost leaves fall in love with Princess Elsa, but he doesn't know how to tell her his feelings and how to win her heart, because every time Jack Frost gets too close to Princess Elsa when it comes to true love, he gets very nervous with her, but fortunately for him, Shrek will help Jack Frost to win the heart of Princess Elsa, except Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, because now they will be the only Official Disney Princesses who do not need to have love interests and who can remain single forever, and I also say the same for Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, because like Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, she doesn't need a love interest either, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the rivalry between King Artie and Queen Anna because they both want to compete in a challenge to see who is the best monarch a of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, because both want to do what is best for their own kingdom, because King Artie wants to do what is best for his kingdom called Far Far Away because now he is the new King of Far Far Away and Queen Anna wants to do the best for their kingdom called Arendelle because now she is the new Queen of Arendelle, but at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Queen Anna become best friends in the world, because at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, they both learned from their mistakes that they have made since their challenge to compete to see who is the best monarch of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, and that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Princess Guinevere see their first true love kiss and that they become a romantic couple, just like Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany, and also that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, Maui, Hiccup Haddock, Kristoff Bjorgman, Jack Frost, Prince Lancelot and King Artie become the new official members of the Official Disney Princes, while Queen Anna, Princess Elsa, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Princess Tiffany and Princess Guinevere become the new official members of the Official Disney Princesses and that one day, Princess Tiffany will be the wife of Prince Lancelot and that they have a son and a daughter, that is, a family in the future, and that also Princess Guinevere is the wife of King Artie, that they also have a son and a daughter, that is, a family and that she becomes the new Queen of Far Far Away in the future.

    I'm really disappointed Encanto ended up being so high. I found its plot meandering and the music (with the exception of Louisa's song, but even hers is... average) unpleasant. I think I'm the only one who doesn't like it though. Its popularity is annoying almost on Frozen's level. Yes, I agree, Let's Not Talk About Bruno. Sometimes I wonder if its because it's so recent that people think it's so great. I am interested to see if people will still think it's amazing ten years from its release, and why.
    I do like that Moana took the top spot. It was a magical film and the songs were amazing. It was funny and heartfelt too. It was nice to listen to what you had to say here.

    Personally, I like Ralph Breaks The Internet, I also like Frozen II, which was surprising, considering how I think that the first Frozen is SO annoying. I also like Dinosaur, Big Hero 6, Tangled, AND Zootopia.

    17:44 Frozen..........
    Where do I even begin? It was EVERYWHERE. On Disney Channel, on other channels, the songs played in stores, radios, concerts, in other movies, so many products, Frozen snacks, Frozen clothes, Frozen books, Frozen games, Frozen toys. The movie got both a sequel & a couple of short films, so many covers of the song Let it Go. You couldn't not escape Frozen. It was EVERYWHERE. It was like Frozen cast a magical spell on the entire world

    Encanto is very overrated imo. Like it's a good movie, but comapred to Ralpph, Tangled or even Robinsons it loses storywise. Plus the whole "the real villain was the firends we made along the way" tope is so tiring at this point

    • @lilac3266
      @lilac3266 Před 11 měsíci +7

      encanto was actually the first to use that “trope” for Disney. Or atleast the first in a while. Difference is it was well done unlike rayas forced redemption or strange worlds anything. Encanto was different in a lot of ways for Disney and that’s why it’s so popular. It diverted a lot of expectations and tropes to tell a more personal smaller story that resonated with a lot of people

    • @lilac3266
      @lilac3266 Před 11 měsíci +5

      also I feel like the “real villain was the friends we made along the way” absolutely does not apply to this movie. There isn’t a villain there doesn’t need to be one in this story. They used a historical event to showcase almas trauma and how it then manifested in the generations afterwards.

    • @Dora-xi5ob
      @Dora-xi5ob Před 7 měsíci

      You sound so dumb right now. “The real villain was the friends we made along the way” is literally what Frozen is (Hanz). Encanto isn’t supposed to be some grand adventure where Mirable finds a Miracle. The entire movie is relatable and brought light onto family issues
