    Tomaso Albinoni | El maestro Barroco - 12 Concerti A Cinque

    Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni was born in Venice, Republic of Venice, to Antonio Albinoni, a wealthy paper merchant, he studied violin and singing. Relatively little is known about his life, which is surprising, considering his contemporary stature as a composer and the comparatively well-documented period in which he lived. In 1694 he dedicated his Opus 1 to the fellow-Venetian, Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni (grand-nephew of Pope Alexander VIII). His first opera, Zenobia, regina de Palmireni, was produced in Venice in 1694. Albinoni was possibly employed in 1700 as a violinist to Charles IV, Duke of Mantua, to whom he dedicated his Opus 2 collection of instrumental pieces. In 1701 he wrote his hugely popular suites Opus 3, and dedicated that collection to Ferdinando de' Medici, Grand Prince of Tuscany.In 1705, he married Margherita Rimondi; Antonino Biffi, the maestro di cappella of San Marco was a witness, and evidently was a friend of Albinoni. Albinoni seems to have no other connection with that primary musical establishment in Venice, however, and achieved his early fame as an opera composer in many cities in Italy, including Venice, Genoa, Bologna, Mantua, Udine, Piacenza, and Naples. During this time, he was also composing instrumental music in abundance: prior to 1705, he mostly wrote trio sonatas and violin concertos, but between then and 1719 he wrote solo sonatas and concertos for oboe. Unlike most contemporary composers, he appears never to have sought a post at either a church or noble court, but then he had independent means and could afford to compose music independently. In 1722, Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria, to whom Albinoni had dedicated a set of twelve concertos, invited him to direct two of his operas in Munich.Around 1740, a collection of Albinoni's violin sonatas was published in France as a posthumous work, and scholars long presumed that meant that Albinoni had died by that time. However, it appears he lived on in Venice in obscurity; a record from the parish of San Barnaba indicates Tomaso Albinoni died in Venice in 1751, of diabetes mellitus.

    Why doesn’t any other nation on earth match the sheer grandeur and brilliance of Italian art, sculpture, music, opera singers, architecture, automobile design, fashion apparel? There are other great artists around the globe and throughout the ages, but no one country comes close to Italy’s grand contributions. Did I mention their food and wine? 😊

      in quel linguaggio musicale comune in tutta Europa fare le classifiche é fuori luogo oltre che impossibile al massimo si può fare il tifo, la stessa critica musicale dell' 800 ha fatto scempi. La musica barocca non é stata un Tour un Giro o una Vuelta, quello che si può dire che la musica nata in Italia è stata senza dubbio la più importante: non cera corte che non avesse un musicista del Bel Paese fatto aimè ancora di tanti stati, ma con una solida unità culturale, per non contare l' insieme di compagnie teatrali cantanti impresari suonatori (a Bayreuth a suonale erano soprattutto musicisti francesi e italiani), MA hai fatto una ingiusta dimenticanza grande come una casa: l'aver dimenticato nel tuo Olimpo la grande Scuola Napoletana, Napoli nel suo insieme di ben 4 conservatori e quel ben di Dio di compositori cantanti compagnie teatrali e musicanti sia per numero e qualità rappresentava un unicum in tutta Europa. Viva il Barocco in musica in architettura scultura in pittura nell' insieme della sua grandissima cultura artistica.

      Exactly. The most beautiful music in the Western canon. And we seem to view it even today as the morning of music. Otherwise, why would the classical music stations play only Renaissance, Baroque, and a touch of Classical music for their morning broadcasts, saving those turgid Romantic symphonies for the poor commuters suffering in traffic on their ways home from work?

      Although I do agree that Bach is wonderful it is a pity that he spent so much of his time producing hundreds of wonderful cantatas in German in order to fulfill the duty to his employers. There something about him that confined him to a very small part of Germany---Possible duties to his numerous children. He was also rooted in the German past. Handel went to Italy and England and produced music which will survive for at least as long as Bach's will and by the way his music encompasses every emotion not just joyous. @@jonholdaway

    • @jonholdaway
      @jonholdaway Před 5 měsíci

      @@starnafin Bach did travel on foot quite a ways to hear Buxtehude play, and I believe he may have been familiar with scores of Vivaldi and perhaps Handel. Maybe in some ways his relative isolation allowed him to develop his genius along his own unique lines. And never forget that he had the ultimate inspiration, that he was touched by the finger of God. How else is it possible to explain the sublime beauty of his melodies woven together within the mathematical intricacies of counterpoint. Divine inspiration, pure and simple.

    A fascinating point. I have asked myself what would it be like if all the German music was to vanish? Possibly a greater loss than if all the Italian music were lost. But when you aggregate the music, art, architecture, I think you have a point.

      No offense, God truly touches these masters.We would not have their musical genius without His guiding hands. Musical yes but not genius level.

    • @warrensicherman4391
      @warrensicherman4391 Před 8 měsíci

      You are right about these masters being over the top in creative skills. But, god's hand did not help them compose these masterpieces. Their belief in a deity made their skills. Unfortunately, their is no bearded man in the sky who controls all life on this world. That is a delusion created by civilization to explain the unexplainable. By the way, which of the thousands of religions is the right one?

    • @iahelcathartesaura3887
      @iahelcathartesaura3887 Před 7 měsíci

      @@warrensicherman4391 You lack both knowledge & understanding.
      (Also it's awful to post such a thing on such a video as this. So I will meet you & raise your comment.)
      And 'religion' is all but meaningless. A human construct - and often designed to trap souls.
      God speaks for Himself, in thousands of ways. Find that.
      Or better still, allow Him to 'find' you.
      (Oh and God may or may not be bearded. It's irrelevant. All you who post this are parroting your professors, coven leaders or parents etc, repeatedly, word for word.
      Go think for yourself. Have an actual experience.
      Let God find you, the real God. I dare you.)
