    Could it not have been a retrospective exhortation- perhaps she was tragically and suddenly departed - he was hurt of mind, thus the crudeness and coarseness of the first two stanzas , and the breathtaking eloquence of the last?

    Why so coy about his desire for sex? He is not after 'making out'. Is this aimed at young students? Are you trying to avoid political criticism?

    I think there's a bit of extra coyness going on here about the older meaning of the word quaint!
